Beston Chambeshi began his tenure as Zambia Under-20 coach on a high after demolishing
Zimbabwe 5-1 on Wednesday in a 2016 Cosafa U20 Cup Group B opener in South Africa.
The result send the record 10-time champions top of Group B on three points with a match to play.
Power Dynamos striker Patson Daka put Zambia ahead in the 41st minute before Mpande Academy forward Edward Chilufya added the second in the 44th minute.
Mufulira Wanderers midfielder Crispin Salukanda, son of ex-Nkana striker Musole Sakulanda, made it 3-0 on the hour mark while Zanaco striker Fashion Sakala added the fourth in the 80th minute.
Bukhosi Sibanda scored Zimbabwe’s consolation goal in the 87th minute but Nkana defender Moses Nyondo put the result beyond doubt in stoppage time.
Zambia face Malawi in their final Group B match on December 11.
Winner from Group B will face runner-up from Group D in a playoff for a semifinal place on December 13.
Group D comprises on Mozambique, Comoros and guest side DR Congo.
South Africa is hosting this year’s tournament in the North-West Province from December 7-16.
