Chiyangi laments Nkana’s unsuccessful continental race

Coach Aggrey Chiyangi is disappointed that Nkana have missed out on qualifying for next year’s continental championships.

Nkana finished third in the 2016 FAZ Super Division campaign with 70 points from 34 matches played.

Chiyangi regretted that Nkana dropped points in some key games especially at home.

“For me as a coach, I am disappointed because we haven’t done what we could have done,” Chiyangi said.

“We failed to win certain games. We drew at home with some teams we could have beaten. That cost us at the end of the season,” he said.

But Chiyangi also picked some positives from the ended season.

“We must also be realistic, when I came in, the team I found could not even challenge for honours. We were trying to rebuild the team and at the same time give results,” he said.

“The players worked hard to reach where we are. What we can do now is sit down, analyse and find out where we went wrong and where we think we need to strengthen the team,” Chiyangi said.

Last season, Nkana finished eighth in the league.
