Government says the Leather and Textile industries have high growth potential that can significantly contribute to the growth and wealth creation of the country.

Minister of Commerce Trade and Industry Margaret Mwanakatwe however says more needs to be done to contribute to the growth of the Leather and Textile manufacturing base.

Mrs Mwanakatwe was speaking in Lusaka over the weekend at Dinner Gala to mark the end of the 5 days of the 2016 Leather and Textile Expo.

The 2016 Leather and Textile Expo was held under the theme:“Enhancing Competiveness of Leather and Textile sectors through value addition”.

Mrs Mwanakatwe expressed hope that the 2016 Leather and Textile Expo will go a long way in enhancing the progression of the two sectors in the country.

She also said the Expo has been a platform for the leather and textile sectors to create synergies, collaboration, and networks that will see the two sectors become the market leaders at Regional and International levels.

Mrs. Mwanaktwe noted that the overwhelming support that the Expo received is a true reflection of how much Government and other Cooperating partners values the leather and textile industry.

  1. Was “The Stay” granted? If not, then Margaret is illegally in the office. Others will scream that she appealed. Yes, she might have appealed but if the stay was not granted, then she ceases to be an MP.

  4. Well, there is a dual legal system in Zambia for sure. The PF have their own and the rest follow the Zambian constitution. She is still acting as Minister in total disregard of the High Court Ruling. Why should any Zambian respect the rule of law or the Zambian courts?. Its just an academic exercise.Anyway the Bilateral partners are watching closely….

    • This woman is desperate for a political job,an upright person who is a true professional can not act in a position when your status is being questioned.
