Leave us out of your failures in agriculture , Chief Mukunu tells PF

The Patriotic Front (PF) is full of cowards and should not drag Southern Province traditional leaders into its agricultural failures, says chief Mukuni.

Chief Mukuni said it was sad that PF could drag traditional leaders into its inefficiencies.

On Tuesday, PF deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya accused traditional leaders in Southern Province of tampering with food security.

He alleged that some chiefs, headmen and women in the province were telling peasant farmers not to collect farming inputs, which the government was distributing, because they were late.

“We believe that food security is national security because hunger is a receipt for instability. Hungry people can pose a danger on society. Therefore, we strongly believe that traditional leaders who are discouraging peasant farmers in Southern Province from planting on grounds that it is late are not only compromising food security but also endangering national security as well,” said Bwalya.

“We are investigating the real motive by traditional leaders who are clearly trying to create a crisis regarding food security.”

But chief Mukuni said traditional leaders took care of thousands of lives and would not want to see anyone suffer.

“Frank Bwalya is a coward. If there is any group of people that has a large number of cowards, it is the PF. Why did he not mention the chiefs or headmen and women by name instead of just leaving the country to speculate? If I have a problem with President Edgar Lungu or any political leader, I should say so by mentioning names. We are and will always encourage our subjects to aim at returning this province back to its lost glory of being the nation’s food basket, so how can we stop them from collecting farming inputs? Let him concentrate on the PF and leave us out of the PF’s agricultural failures,” chief Mukuni said.

He said he was shocked that a group of farmers was made to spend nights outside the old district commissioner’s office in Livingstone near Anglican Church from Tuesday to Thursday just to try and collect farming inputs.

“These farmers were supposed to be in their fields and yet they are made to spend nights in the cold just trying to get inputs. Can Bwalya say he will refund them for any costs they have incurred? Let him shut up if he has nothing to say,” said chief Mukuni.

  1. Chief Mukuni is one confident and arrogant (in positive sense) chief. He is never a bootlicker like some poor chiefs who tend to be used like cheap Kafue textile rags. And he’s got a bit of quid.

    • They are truly a bunch of cowards, everytime i watch deadNBC news these pf caders rush to deadNBC and accuse individuals, yet they will never mention the names of such individuals, even their president was busy that other week trying to remind Zambians that he was the only president of the country and not that leader of that of that party, why couldn’t just mention the name of leader,i wouldn’t understand, that’s real cowardice. My chief you have just hit the nail right on its ugly head.

    • And deadNBC never brings the accused to defend themselves, such an embarrassing unbalanced media organization.

    • @The Chosen One: Spot on – Chief Mukuni is not and will never be a bootlicker just like all other Chiefs in Southern Province. Even those Chiefs without quid in their pockets never worship nor bootlick anyone in Govt. Southern Province does NOT have chiefs that can be used or that can sell their souls for money like Mpezeni!!

    • Wages of having chief like Mukuni who are UPND cadres. These chiefs down south needs to see things beyond their son HH

    • Chief mukuni is defeating his own logic.

He says Frank Bwalya should have mentioned the chiefs than say some chiefs from Southern Province.

Well chief mukuni should have ended on Frank Bwalya than say PF, since he knows who made the statement. Why generalise PF? Is he then endorsing Frank Bwalya style?

He might wish to say Frank Bwalya is spokes person for PF; well being spokes person does not mean one is deprived of personal opinion.

Also chief mukuni is being over-judgemental. Frank Bwalya said there are rumours, which we are investigating. How do you mention people when you have no finished investigations?

You may say, why speak about the matter before concluding the investigations? Well if you are a leader and you hear rumours of breakout of an infectious disease in a…

    • You may say, why speak about the matter before concluding the investigations? Well if you are a leader and you hear rumours of breakout of an infectious disease in a neighbouring country, won’t you warn people you conclude investigations? Or are you will wait for investigations the warn people.

Mukuni must just concentrate on his traditional role for his subjects, and those who may wish to include themselves to be his subjects. Otherwise he has a very small domain for his leadership, it is not even the whole of southern province, but a small fraction of it .

    • What can come out of the man who did pwiiiiiiiiiii pwiiiiiii diarrhea on band jumping at the falls? His brain is still in that state of the diarrhea, just find room to forgive the old man!

    • @saulosi, sando and Peace for Zambia, your arguments are without credit. You have simply shown that you are either PF cadres or purely die-hard tribalists. For you ‘Peace for Zambia’, are you listening to what your saying? You condemn Chief Mukuni without condemning Frank Bwalya for making a press statement before he finished his so-called ‘investigations’! What a shame! Be real @Peace for Zambia, Sando and Saulosi. You are not building Zambia. Instead you are planting a seed of hatred between the peoples of this Great Nation called Zambia.

    • The purpose of a political party is to promote the election of a candidate. After being elected, the party leaves governance to the elected.

If partisan stalwarts are involved in governance it means they are noticing weakness in the elected officials.

So, Bwalya is broadcasting to the world that the minister of Agriculture is weak.

    • Chief Mukuni is right to feel irritated! Why should anyone want to pick a quarrel with any chief when everyone Zambian is a subject of some chief for that matter? If anything the idiocy of politicking aimed at watering down respect for chieftaincy is what makes people big headed to just spew rubbish against the custodians of ethnic identity! PF with its Frank Bwalya and others are running government and must be accommodating to criticism much more than than those in the opposition and work hard at dispelling incompetence through positive actions than pivoting most of the time!

    • Isn’t this the self same Chief Mukuni who crapped his pants while bungie jumping? And now he has the guts to call others cowards???
      Ala nafwa ku nseko.

    • This thing so called chief Mukuni who defecates in his trousers is full of crap! The chap is self centred and buys a limousine from funds meant for his people, what a joker this chap is, a pure political prostitute. So he wants his people to starve for his own selfish reasons! This is the problems with these blood thirsty animals-selfish, bitter and pure evil!
Mukuni you are on record of wanting to sell your people’s land to Chinese! On the BBC you were filmed in China you hopless cretin today you pretend to care?? Hopeless cretin!

    • PF are failures, they are thieves with no heart for poor Zambians. whats a shame to have such silly leadership. they are fo.ols, corrupt from the State house.

  2. Truly, only an idyot will listen to a kaponya who has never planted anything in his life. Bakaponya like Flaky Bwalwa know nothing about agriculture and should just shut up. PF are a disgrace. Unfortunately these mambalas cannot rig against hunger or their own incompetence.

    • Peace for Zambia: Frank bwalya was speaking for pf. It was actually reported that “the pf have reports that some traditional leaders in Southern Province are being used one position leader to stop their subjects to collect farming inputs.” On investigations: pf cannot investigate anything, they have ever failed in that area. Chief Mukuni is all correct.

  3. Truly, Chief Mukuni is an example of the few remaining respectable traditional leaders in the country that can stand up for his people and country! Tongas have been insulted, tortured and even murdered by these thugs in the PF Government and yet out Traditional Leaders never fail us, Tomgas, they always stand up for us! We, Tongas, are and should indeed proud of our leaders who stand up for us when being attacked by the foo.lish Govt.
How can Frank Bwalya,..a known Ja.ckal, Thug, Scavenger, Id.iot dare to insult whole province every now and again?? Obviously it is because he was sent by and has the blessings of the drunkard, Edward Lungu!!
We say thank you very much to our traditional leaders, Chiefs Mukuni, Nalubamba, Chikanta, Sinazongwe, Haamusonde, Moonze, Choona, Choongo,…

    • @Chilyata, with these insults and hate, the majority Zambians cannot make a mistake to vote for one of you. Mark these words. The reason is that you are too tribal.

    • @Misozi: With or without what you call “insults or hate” monkeys like you never vote for us, Tongas, so what difference does your sh.it make?

    • He is made of steel, with a diamond heart, brain made of gold, is all bling bling,he is not coward and has called the culprit by his name and now the question is what are you made of?

    • @4 Kelvin

He is made of granite and well functioning brain. Please pay him a visit in Livingstone. You will be most proud, you did.

    • Even if he was so what,is this country not a democracy. You *****s why dont you just concentrate on doing the job you imposed on yourselves, this is the cost of stealing votes settling down becomes a problem.

    • @Munene, so what if he is UPND? Isn’t Chitimukulu PF? Wasn’t Mpezeni once MMD and later PF? Shut up if you have nothing to contribute!

    • So freaking what?
Do you people even know what the word cadre means?
Look it up, you low expectation pf ignoramus!

  4. It is the poor leadership of one HH which has tarnished the good name of the people of SP! The shoes of one Mazoka are too big for him! He needs to learn to let go and allow others to try their worth. Currently there is no democracy in any of our current political groupings – both ruling and opposition! We need to see a new movement to change the status quo!

    • The Real 1mbecile must mention HH.
As to HH tarnishing “…the good name of the people of SP…”, if I was you, I would be ashamed to mention that I am Zambian. After all, each People merit the Government they have.

    • How can you “argue intelligently” with 1mbecile who does not sound like an ******** but is certified ********!!!

  5. Suddenly the province that’s the pride of Zambia in food production has become PF’s enemy. If something is not done quickly to get rid of PF Zambia will be worse than a banana republic. If you have noticed their energies are focused on hunting for and creating problems where none exists. The satanic high priest Bwalya seems cut out for this particular function. The job of governing the nation is simply beyond their depth.

    • Ba kechema are too full of themselves to understand the chief kachema (HaHa) is going nowhere politically. Check statistical data to learn which province is the food basket of Zambia

  6. Well Spoken My Chief Mukuni. Tell them basokwe Babantu bamichila batazi kulima peele buyo kubba nechinto. especially Frank Bwalya you should repent before it is too late.

  7. @Buck teeth lungu, you’re such a arrogant & bitter upnd cadre & if at all frank Bwalya is a kaponya as u referred to ,like wise u are equally a kaponya because the man is half cast Tonga.

    • Be clear about this : I am a kachema, not a kaponya. How can a bitter Tonga hater like Flaky Bwalwa be half Tonga?

  8. Pushi, You are also in need of help with your English. It is not ‘three years old son’ but ‘three-year-old son’ that’s if you have any son at all. Typical UPND mentality….

  9. Well spoken, your Royal Highness.
The sad reality is that PF deputy spokesperson Father Frank Bwalya is consistent with PF’s record of LACK OF RESPECT for our traditional rulers and norms. Case in point, the harassed ba Chitimukulu, now they are harassing ba Mukuni.

  10. Chief mukuni is defeating his own logic.

    • You may say, why speak about the matter before concluding the investigations? Well if you are a leader and you hear rumours of breakout of an infectious disease in a neighbouring country, won’t you warn people before you conclude investigations? Or are you going to waitt for investigations to finish the warn the people.

Mukuni must just concentrate on his traditional role for his subjects, and those who may wish to include themselves to be his subjects. Otherwise he has a very small domain for his leadership, it is not even the whole of southern province, but a small fraction of it .

    • It is hilarious reading comments from certified 1mbecile when commenting about “logic”. Or, is it a case of “Logical 1mbecility” at work?

  11. There is so much hate in this country. Alas even when my parents are wrong I cannot insult them. But this is the case with Zambians now. Why use such abusive language on our leaders? Why? When Preeidentd Sata (MHSRIP) seemingly won elections in 2008 and was denied chance to lead Zambia, he recollected quickly and fought another genuine battle and he won. UPND must now focus on the next elections rather than spend time insulting and disregarding the current Government. The scenario is that UPND today is exerting energies fighting the rulling party and defnately will have little or no muscle left for the next elections. This will only leave UPND become the most experienced opposition party in Zambia. Be strategic UPND. An angry man cannot win a fight. Never!!!

  12. PF has no single plan to revive the country’s economy! Therefore, they will try forever to accuse Tonga’s in anyway possible for anything that’s not going right in the country. These leaders just need to start working out real solutions instead of perpetually trying to find excuses. By the way, I am a PF supporter.

    • @Mj banda:
Iwe ponyoponyo Banda! Iyayi….ba Chief Mukuni ndiye anan.yenga amaye bako! Ndipo adzabany.yenga anso!

  13. Although I don’t like Frank Bwalya’s approach, Chief Mukuni should’ve responded without bitterness, if he’s the representative of the Tongas. The problem is he has a tainted image, a chief used by the MMD to handout brown envelopes and parcel out land to Chinese. Together with people like Mutati, these are rogues who’ve abused their positions, leaving their people wallowing in poverty. I’d suggest a more credible person to respond to Frank Bwalya’s accusations.

  14. What a chief kulakulafye ukwabula amano instead of giving progressive statements but chooses to be hungry hyena’s cadre

  15. Spoken like a pro, upfront and to the point. ‘Coward’ is in fact a compliment with these incompetent bunch of thieves whose preoccupation is ‘nchekeleko’.

    • The problem is that Chief Mukuni is the nchekeleko-in-chief. Let’s call a spade a spade. Our country will not go anywhere if we allow ourself to shy away from the truth. In what capacity was Chief Mukuni speaking? If he’s the Tonga representative, there is a big problem.

  16. Imwe people why even worry about these bakikala and their chief. Let them stay if they don’t want to farm nor plant and izabanyokola njala. We had a bumper harvest last year without their contribution. Remember southern had a bad rainfall pattern and crops dried up but we had from other provinces like central etc. Who cares if mukuni sheets iin his boxers to support his fellow kaponya HH.

  17. Can we all agree that in 2001 breakfast mealie meal was retailing at K35 ?

Can we all agree that now its clocking around K100.

There is no question that Southern produces the most maize compared to any other province. It is followed by Eastern and Central.

So ba Mukuni the price of your maize is correspondingly going to go up. Its currently $260 per ton compared to $140 in 2011.

Just relax and enjoy the windfall that PF will give your subjects

Any true Southerner will verify the rain in their province is the best in a decade. The ITCZ cloud is over central to southern. It has actually shifted from northern/luapula

Sit back, relax, and wait and see

  18. Wanya wanya

It was an election year and so you were told we had a bumper harvest. You fell for that ?

FRA failed to buy maize at K75 per bag. It got swept up by the private sector. Current price K130 per bag. Theres 5 months to the next harvest.

If there was a bumper harvest, why is mealie meal just rising one way ? The law of supply and demand !

Dont fall for all that bumper b.s.hit.

  19. Data please. Are inputs late or not. This time there are different varieties of seed. Early and late mature. So the question is are inputs late or not?

  20. When someone speaks the truth (whether chief or not) the guilty shudder. Isn’t it true that the government’s Agricultural policies, if any, are a shambles? And what does the so-called Father Bwalya say about perceived chiefs stopping farmers from collecting inputs? (without evidence) He says having hungry people is a threat to national security. Is that all he is concerned about – that hungry people will topple his PF? What about the simple humanity of ensuring that enough food is produced so that people maybe healthy and contribute to the nations development? Think of the human being first and what policies will ensure that they live in good health and dignity – not conspiracy theories when you fail lamentably on simple distribution of inputs.

  21. There is a proverb that says; ” A proverb about a tattered basket, makes a man in rags nervous or uneasy”. It epitomises all that is PF and its failures.

  22. Franky Bwalya can never be half Tonga. There is no person who can hate tongas because of being abandoned by one Tonga man. It’s franky’ s mother who cheated the son that the Father was Tonga. He is and will never be half Tonga.

  23. Chiefs can also be donkeys? Where are we heading to? If they cannot reason on their own can’t they take a leaf from Mwine Lubemba and the Litunga? These are shining examples of what a chief or Zambian king should be and they will offer their advice for free. As it is Mukuni has reduced himself to a donkey, doesnt sound like a chief at all.

  24. @Terrible! You are a simple cadre who has forced himself not to reason. Grow up kapuli iwee. What can a farmer achieve with inputs distributed this late! To you its all about PF!

  25. You reap what u sow, unless you come to understand how the Kingdom of God operates, you will always fighting amongst yourselves. No president, no political part, no chief will serve Zambia. Only God will, but we also know that he works through humble individuals. I don’t care how you feel about it, the truth hates, the only solution is to send prayers, prais & worship to the King of Kings not the ruling pf, waisting our time, ?

  26. Ba mudala ba Kaputo read what ba Terrible naba , Brian are saying. Here there is no name calling but go for facts and not opinions. According to the English Oxford dictionary a cadre means and I quote is ” a small group of people specially trained for a particular purpose or profession”. nomba ku Zambia ku mwesu, we are fighting palibu cadre nishi?

  27. The sooner we realise Zambia is not for ECL neither is it for HH the better. What is wrong remains as such whether done by Government or Chiefs.

I now see that what is done by opposition is taken as always right by some particular media. I will be lucky to have this opinion published.

  28. Why should GRZ even give fertiliser for free to farmers? Our Zambian farmers have been receiving these agricultural inputs since Unip era, up to now they have failed to stand on their two feet. Even if the Son of God was to come and rule Zambia nothing will happen. Look at an ordinary Zambian, all we know is nchekeleko. Until we change and believe that one can only be paid ,after they have done some work. And not the Zambia of today where people want to get paid before doing anything. Shame to my motherland.

  29. Watch this space…Lazy Lungu and tins will soon say that traditional leaders should not be too political yet they sowed these selfsame seeds; increasing their allowances during election time and those pointless invitations to State House instead of utilizing the House of Chiefs.

  30. The whole idea of FSIP is loosing it’s meaning now. This must reviewed. FSIP must not be wamuyaya. There must come a time when the economy is dictated by market forces and not artificial perceptions doctored by subsidies. We cannot continue to cheat ourselves forever. Government must change focus from FSIP to such as improved Africuture Extension Services.

I witnessed some strange reality on my way to Chama district. At a point were the road to Chama divides Zambia and Malawi, it was amazing to see that crop on the Zambian side was yellowish and wilting while across the road in Malawi it was the opposite. This told the whole story. Malawi is investing more in education and skills as opposed to Zambia. Our priorities are defnately not right. We must stop politics of the belly and…

  31. @39 Kaputo Davies, just blog under your chuundu name, what is wrong with you? Everyone knows that a Kaputo cannot write rubbish like that.
I will tell you something about farming which the chuundu chiefs are missing. Ideally the inputs should have been received in October but that does not necessarily means the fertilizer would have been applied in October, no, the farmers would keep it and apply it at an appropriate time. Maize can still be planted in early parts of January 2017 and it has at least three months to grow and mature. Fertiliser will still be useful. Even if it was planted in December or late November 2016 the maize crop can still pick up tremendously with a some fertiliser.
The culprit chiefs are damaging the livelihood of their subjects in blindly following that…

  32. Contd…
The culprit chiefs (many are respectable tonga chiefs) are damaging the livelihood of their subjects in blindly following that directive to boycott state functions, to their silly minds that is their contribution to the chuundu directive…..silly really,….. donkey group thinking is the term, yes!

There are three things here with the culprit chiefs, all applicable:
    1. Donkey group think
    2. Following directives blindly as long ss they are issued by a fellow chuundu, you can rest assured that if GBM issued the directive no one would follow it.
    3. The culprit chuundu chiefs are now used to a dry rain starved region. This year the rain for southern province is much much better, but the culprit chuundu chiefs will deliberately or ignorantly not see this blessing from God…

  33. Contd…
    3. The culprit chuundu chiefs are now used to a dry rain starved region. This year the rain for southern province is much much better, but the culprit chuundu chiefs will deliberately or ignorantly not see this blessing from God until a fellow chuundu tells them so. In fact they probably do not want this rain because it was prayed for by Lungu and fellow christians.
That is chuundu group thinking for you… tragedy really for this once prosperous farming community.

  34. I do agree with chief mukuni, but him should also be told that he is using his subjects with mupotola siloko for personal gain ,his is deceiving tourist in the name of his subjects who lives in total poverty ,by the way his chiefdom is not an agricultural areas they don’t do farming they are good in bargaining from innocent tourists.

  35. Who cares whether breakfast was at k1 or K100. What is important is people are not starving. How was I earning in 2001, it was K480 and K25,000. and so why should breakfast price be static. Bafik… life and living in always in constant change.

  36. My goodness the chief…who did pupu when he was doing baj jumping, just join politics…If you continue speaking ill of the government i will take you for baj jumping so that you can do pupu.

  37. If it was another chief, I would be worried, not this compromised chief Mukuni. Also Frank Bwalya should just keep quiet instead of stirring trouble. These guys don’t want PFs ” inputs so leave them alone.

  38. @mana yes he can’t be because you’re so tribalitic that you deny your own children. My late sister ‘s two children have not been accepted in Namwala on account that we’re Bemba. Their father who lived in Ndola died in 1998 and since then these children have been kept by my mother.

  39. Ndanje Khakis I hear you loud and clear. I see the gimic in that perspective in a way!! Hhhhhh!! I hope it is not.

  40. Bwalya ala talalala- I take great exception when a chief starts attacking political leaders publicly.
    ============
Bamfumu aba bashupa. If things don’t go well in SP the same chief will as usual go in public and issue statements like above.
Let’s be clear here, SP fertilizer supply chain could be full of bitter pills or some disgruntled elements could be suppressing the FISP effort in SP to gain cheap political gains.
I have great respect for traditional leaders and believe me, I want to respect this particular chief.

  41. The chief is partisan donkey who left the palace for more than a year, so that he could campaign for for his subject, the Satanist.
After the loss of elections by his subject, he has become bitter and behaves like a wounded buffalo.
Forgive him and forget about his stupidity

  42. Those are not the words of a chief ;chiefs don’t speak like that I would question if he has joined politics so people can treat him like other politician.
I for one if I were a chief I would speak neutral words , the words he has said are partisan .
Since they are partisan what will he say to his subjects who are not in his party?
What will happen if his party doesn’t rule this country!
Politics must be left to politicians who are polluted with insults .

  43. When Chitimukulu was commenting on this and that subject, leading to the elections last year, the same bloggers insulting Chief Mukuni did not do the same to him. Mukuni is speaking on behalf of his subjects – standing up for them against divisive elements like Bwalya who wants to play the people against the chiefs in Southern province. It is amazing how some people in Zambia pretend they don’t know the truth. Burying their heads in the sand is the order of the day – especially for the selfish who either feel issues do not affect them or because they are busy feeding on what falls off Lungu’s banqueting table.

  44. In January last year Chitimukulu commented on the FISP. He talked about governments inertia in the distribution of inputs – right before the vice-President. Hardly any blogger condemned him. It doesn’t matter that Mukuni has used stronger language in reaction to Bwalya – they were both concerned about the effect on productivity and the farmers.

  45. it was kambwili,Davies chama,Mumbi Phiri & jean kapata who divided this nation because of how they spoke in the positions they held before the last election now this back sliden priest ,please dont divide zambia

  46. it was kambwili,Davies chama,Mumbi Phiri & jean kapata who divided this nation because of how they spoke in the positions they held before the last election now this back sliden priest ,please dont divide zambia,,,,

  47. A bad Carpenter will always blame his tools. Plundering Phantoms that are said to haunt the nation’s cemeteries as those that fought for the liberation of this nation from foreign plunderers are now turning in their graves.
    What has befallen Zambians?
Is this Kaunda’s or Chiluba’s Legacy?
    Is it Mwanawasa’s, RB’s or Sata’s Legacy?
Which one is it all you that claim to be leaders of this Great Nation?
