Zambia beat Guinea in 2017 U20 AFCON opener

Share

Zambia made a promising start on Sunday as 2017 U20 AFCON hosts after beating Guinea 1-0 in the tournament’s opening game at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Beston Chambeshi’s side go top of Group A on 3 points until late Sunday night before Egypt and Mali clash in the other pool match of the doubleheader at Heroes Stadium.

Guinea threatened in the early stages of the match and Naby Bangoura missed a one-on-one chance with goalkeeper Mangani Banda in the 29th minute.

Edward Chilufya then thought he had the ball in the back of the net in the 39th minute but his goal was ruled out for offside.

The winner came just after the break through striker Patson Daka of Austrian club FC Liefering in the 48th minute.

Chilufya again had the back in the back of the net in stoppage time, and again, his goal was disallowed.

Zambia now turn their attention to Mali on March 1 at the same venue seeking a win that will send them to the semifinal finals.

    • That’s being an idyot. If you never played football always is see players older than you think. Those are very one kids, I think Zambian team is youngest. In my eyes they are all 17, Mangani 18. They are like grade 11 all.
@Brown watch Egypt right now, they look like you in beads.

  1. What could be the reason for ZNBC not to show the opening ceremony? can it be that some Zambians wanted to make more? Shikashala bane. How many selfish pipo are now dead and hurried?

    • I also find it very strange. Is it really a question of money that the Congolese who are not even participating should be more privileged than the hosts? Lusaka was live throughout the DRC while coming home one is as good as ‘dead’ without dstv. Was the labelling befitting after all?

  2. no one really cares about these babies fluking it. We are more interesting in the national team itself.

    • This is the u20 team and not the national team. Am sure you have the brains to differentiate the two. No where did I say it wasn’t a team. Merely my point is that this is a small team full of kids hoping to make the national team

    • Iwe chi danderhead don’t you know that the senior national teams get most of their players from the under 20s? Maybe you need not to comment if you are clueless about a subject. Mayuka, Kola, Sunzu, Fwayo etc all played for the under 20 before going to the senior teams. If we go the West African countries like Nigeria or Ghana, Mikel Obi, Kelechi Ihianoacho, kwado asamoah Sulley Muntari all came from the junior ranks. There I just taught you something you did not know, you can now thank me and go sit on the corner as you are clueless.

    • In most posts, I was fooled to think that you were actually a smart dude, only to find out that you are dull. Please if you don’t understand the game, let those that understand it comment. What you think everyone just shows and play for the national teams? Ever head of Ronaldinho? Messi, yeah those big time players all came from unders 20s in their respective countries.

    • Njimbu you seem to be a frustrated silly pf cadre who must have failed comprehension at school. This is because it seems your simple brain cannot comprehend that no where in my comment did I allude to pf or upnd. Simply have my opinion which I still stand by about the small insignificant under 20 team. Personally I am not interested in u20. Why should we all conform to your views or way of life. Who are you ? You are simply an insignificant blogger. You are not even significant on this website because this is first time I have seen your name here. Ukose kikiki hh is giving you rats sleepless nights. Am sure when you sleep with your Mrs you see hh

    • A terrible nayimwe mukazi chenjelako. How you create fake account and then make two comments one after the other. We can see from that ugly flag of yours that you are one and same person . Get a job or life. Tawakwata girlfriend?

  4. This was the opportunity for HH to pay tribute to his President. But as usual.he misses opportunities, like when he broke the alliance with Mr Sata.

  5. CONGRATULATIONS BOYS, NOT ONLY FOR WINNING THE MATCH BUT ALSO FOR FILLING THE STADIUM TO CAPACITY. MEANING- MAKING THE COUNTRY A LOT OF MONEY. THOSE NEW STADIA ARE SUPPOSED TO BE HOLDING EVENTS ON A WEEKLY BASIS SUCH AS MUSIC CONCERTS, TRADITIONAL DANCES, OTHER SPORTING EVENTS, ETC. ONE WONDERS WHAT THE MANAGEMENTS OF THESE STADIA ARE PAID FOR IF THEY CAN’T HOLD EVENTS.

    • Wow028#3&;..I really appreciate this post. I have been looking everywhere for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing. You have made my day! Thx again! “Every time we remember to say thank you, we experience nothing less than heaven on earth.” by Sarah Ban Breat…

    • Forgive NEC as he does not seem to have a grasp of what all is involved in the game. Either that or he is high on weed, God knows whatelse.

  6. About age cheating. I thought that all the players underwent SOME TEST IN THE PRESENCE OF A CAF representative. Unless the machines used were defective.
