Share

President Edgar Lungu is this morning expected in Israel for a five-day state visit at the invitation of his counterpart Reuven Rivlin.

President Lungu is travelling with five cabinet ministers and several business people.

Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba confirmed that President would meet with the Israeli President and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Mr Kalaba said the President was also expected to officiate at a business forum organised by the Israeli and Zambian chambers of Commerce and Industry which would focus on investment opportunities within the two countries.

“We are all aware that Israel is a technologically advanced market economy and is globally renowned to have made significant strides in areas such as water management. Our country therefore stands to gain a lot in terms of shared best practices with Israel across several sectors,” Mr Kalaba said.

He said the delegation to Israel would include cabinet ministers from Agriculture, Health, Commerce and Industry, Energy, Tourism and Arts among others.

Mr Kalaba said Mr Lungu would also be accompanied by a business delegation in order to accord an opportunity to the private sector representatives of both countries to interact and forge business partnerships.

He said the visit would further provide Mr Lungu and his delegation an important opportunity to market the numerous business opportunities that Zambia has to offer with the view to attract Israeli investment into Zambia.

  1. Where has this trip come from? anyway our President is hardworking he braved the “flu” he sounded to be developing at N’cwala to seek opportunities for this country 😉

  2. Just in February, he has been to luapula, northwestern, Ethiopia, Botswana, Southern province, now Israel all these he takes a maximum of 3 days, 3multiplied by six trips thats roughly 18 days as tourist, that leaves him with 12 days.

    • My, my, my Zambia that means we deduct another 3 day from 12,we remaining with 9 days, mu 9 days bamoneko abana nabafyala abana.

    • This is really too much! Does Lungu think being President is being on permanent holiday as a global tourist at poor Zambian taxpayers expense???

WHAT ARE THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE GOING TO GET OUT OF THIS???

      Nothing!

  3. There goes Lazy …this month alone the Bum has done absolutely nothing in State House …now going for a whole week. What a lazy Bum with no foreign policy …utterly lazy lazy!!

  4. Invite the Israelis to revive and remodel the development plan they had started for developing Kafue town! Records are there!

  5. Kikiki look how many of them are travelling. This rat lungu is always travelling to make up allowances he lost when he claimed to give up half his salary. The more one flies the higher risk of death by flying. Lungu please teka pwazi panshi and do some work at home. I am in UK but i pay using my own money

  6. His MMD Finance minister is running all over the place for Budget support meanwhile his boss is holidaying all the time…he has hardly spent 5 days in this month of February and its a short month…laziness of this thing Lungu. Next week he willl be in Iran and Saudi Arabia as he has no foreign policy!!

  7. he has just gone for a holiday to chew the allowance he got by travelling to nc’wala,

anyway, dats the problem when tourist’s rule a home!!!

  8. So again the Defence Chiefs and ministers will have to see him off at KKIA …why cant they just move their offices to the airport!!

    • True, In fact a number of people would gladly reside at the airport as their ‘awake’ hours literary hinge around this Departure and Reception Committee, lazying around in the lounges before jostling for positions on the tarmac. The other bunch would hop off to Tel Aviv for a similar ritual and these are not small numbers. No amount of smiling will make Mutati balance that budget whilst this free spending continues.

  9. Harry Kalaba is speedily misleading the president, too much travelling guys! The president movements spends huge sums of money for country

  10. VASCO DA GAMA will finish the entire world. He hasn’t even touched Far East Asia or South America. Next will be China, then Japan, then Brazil, Argentina. Then Australia, Fiji Islands, Hawaii, then back to West Africa.

I hear he’s getting $75,000/day in allowances each time he’s out of the country. Not even Mugabe of Museveni or even J.Zuma travel as much as abena Vasco. Yet Mutati has invited IMF becoz Govt is broke.

Kamwendo Munjila, LAZY-BUMZ LUNGU. What a use-less president the PF00Ls have!!

  11. Here we go again. Its not even shocking anymore. He has no shame to keep travelling claiming to foster investment when none ever comes to Zambia from wherever he has been.

  12. The president’s salary was reduced in order to increase allowances from such trips. Zambians were hoodwinked to believe their president reduced his salary.

    • @Donald, lets not be deceived by Lungu that he reduced his salary. His salary, the moment the budget is approved, which it was, by parliament becomes law and is also governed by emolument Acts. The Ministry of Finance is mandated to pay and cannot reduce any beneficiary’s emoluments without amending the law. This has not been done so far. In any case if you do not want what is entitled to you, when paid you can donate to the state, which Lungu is supposed to be doing since January 2017, having made that pronouncement. Has he done it, your guess is as good as mine.

This Lungu is very deceitful and most Zambians have swallowed his bait of this lie, whilst he is smiling all the way to the bank. How sad!

  13. poor Zambians can’t use our brains to develop. We must start thinking instead of depending on foreigners even simple drainage system mu foreigner ifwe kulyamofye always..Iwe mwe ki tipwa mwe.Ata bane.

  14. President Chagwa decides to take a trip to Israel accompanied by his wife. While they are there, the Chagwa unfortunately passes away while overexerting himself on Slitorious Dorahab. So Ms Lungu calls for the undertaker to get him ready for his burial back in Embassy Park. The undertaker says, “Well madam, if you decided to ship him back to Lusaka its going to cost you $5,000, but if you want we can bury him here for only $150”. So Ms Chagwa thinks about it & finally she says to the undertaker, “well, you know what, I think I’m going to have to send him back to Zambia. I’ll pay the $5,000″. The undertaker says, are you sure? That’s a lot of money to spend”. Ms Lungu goes, “Yeah I remember reading a story of some man dying here, & being buried here. three days later he rose…

  15. It would seem its a Medical Time Out! The rest is mere propaganda. The Petition should be filed with ICJ even if Lungu is on a death bed.

  16. Upnd cadres will cry until they cry no more!!!keep on working hard ECL!!by the way when is the ICC declaring HH as 2016 general elections winner?ZONDA UZALEMA-KIKIKIKIKIKIKI!!!ALL THE BEST ECL.WE ENJOYED YESTERDAY WITH U20 BOYS AT HEROES STADIUM!!!KEEP IT UP!!

  17. We as Zambians should appeal to our parliamentarians to consider curtailing these presidential trips or reducing period of these trips. whilst we are aware some are on reciprocal and invitation arrangements. We are also aware that if well managed and intellectually represented benefit our country. However, 2 to 5 days or more is a disservice to Zambia. We can debate about this appeal but president Lungu is a government employee who should be seen to serve Zambia and manage the nation beset with numerous problems. His absence for more than two days leaves the nation vulnerable to believe that the government is absent, weak and does not care about Zambia. Parliament should look into these long presidential out side visits with responsibility to our nation.

  18. UPNDonkeys are green with envy, that is our President at work. Just wait until you see the fruits of his visit then you will agree with me that others are just donkeys in hallucination.

    • This is really too much! Does Lungu think being President is being on permanent holiday as a global tourist at poor Zambian taxpayers expense???

WHAT ARE THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE GOING TO GET OUT OF THIS???

      Nothing!

  19. Do these ppl complaining, day in day out have anything to do? Whining sucks!! Let do and use our creative abilities. I think an armchair critic is the most pathetic person ever! GRZ , the ruling party and the opposition are better than cowardly bloggers.
