Golf prodigy Aaron Simfukwe is banking on home-ground advantage as he seeks glory at the 2017 Zambia Open at Nkana Golf Club in Kitwe.

The Zambia Open bankrolled by Mopani and Redpath takes place from 28 May to 4 June.

Simfukwe made a cut at the same event staged at Nkana two seasons ago.

“Actually, I have got more advantage because I have been practicing on this golf course for a long time,” he said.

“I know all the corners of this golf course. I know where I made mistakes last time,” said the 2015 Mazabuka Golf Open champion.

Simfukwe is looking forward to bettering his performance at the Zambia Open.

“Last time I made a cut, hopefully this year I will play better than last time,” he said.

Simfukwe last year won the Windhoek Lager Africa Jacket title in Namibia.

Simfukwe is also backing more local golfers to excel the international championship.

“It is very possible for a Zambian to win. We only need to prepare well and practice more. We also need exposure and more support.”
