PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says he is ready to work with opposition leaders on matters that are of national interest to the nation and of developmental value with the opposition provided they do not dwell on non-objective political agendas.

President Lungu said his doors remain open for dialogue with people who recognise that he is President as has been declared by the Electoral Commission of Zambia and the Courts of law.

The head of state was speaking at City Airport before his departure to Mongu to attend the Kuomboka ceremony; “What is it I am going to discuss with them if they say I am not President….. I have no difficulties with the opposition but they should bring issues which are objective and national in character,” he said.

“If they are crying foul that they are robbed of the victory, it’s was not for me to decide, ECZ announced the winner and the courts of law made a ruling. I am only willing to meet anybody but there should be on a national agenda.”

He emphasised that if UPND wanted to politick they should wait till 2021 because he had not time to politick.

And on the murder of the ZAF soldier in police custody President Lungu who is the commander in chief of armed forces said investigations have been completed and a report has been handed over to him.

The ZAF Officer Mark Choongwa, 34, a flight sergeant died in police custody at Woodlands police station after he was allegedly brutally beaten by other inmates. The death of the soldier raised public outcry prompting President Lungu to order for a joint inquiry in the matter between the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs.

However, President Lungu that he had done his part to order for thorough investigations, arrests had been effected and since he was not a prosecutor, we should let the law takes its course.

    • Also time to change vice presidents…all I see are the poached elephants teeth on Madam Inonge’s wrists!

    • Also worse that poaching elephants for bangles is those prancing grown ups baring their teeth at the tarmac for Lungu. Can they all not just show up one day?

    • But Sir, why didn’t you handover power when the petition was filed? Did you abrogate the constitution and what should be the consequences of that?

    • @Ndobo, is it a lozi tradition to wear car tires? Why is Edgar’s wife in tires attire, who dresses that Ester kanshi?

    • “President Lungu ‘arrives a flower’ from Agness Nkhata on arrival in Mongu for Kuomboka ceremony”
BA LT YOUR ENGLISH IS PATHETIC. YOU CAN’T JUST COPY-AND-PASTE WITHOUT CHECKING WHAT YOU HAVE COPIED.

    • You have bena cosmo mumba, sakala, dan pule etc are they not enough? So advise coming from bena cosmo is useless.

    • This little dictator should not choose to have an opposition he wishes to have. How do his politics and brains work. This is not the school of Sata he went to. He’s a little dectator who was waiting to pounce when the oppoturnity was right. He stole from a client when the opportunity was right. You can see that he his a perpetual chancer now heading Kwabulozi to feed his habit by manipulating the Litunga using fossil inonge. This guy is bad news and before we know it he will have a grip on everything, we won’t have any freedom left.

    • The fact that Lungu rigged and store the election is an issue of democracy and it’s an issue of national charater. So what is this man yapping about? This man is a croock masquarading as a commander-in-faeses. He’s a fake and forged for all we know. Those he paid to temporarily put him their and those he serves like RB will dances to the tune very soon. These guys are a phoney. I ‘ll just igore them now.

    • @ 1.5 Seratonin,

Handover which power, in what context, for what reasons and to who?

If you enjoy the art of handing over power, go as HH to handover power to GBM.

Do you understand the constitution? Did that petition follow a rerun or it followed the first run of elections.

Have you read the constitution or you have just been told by HH who read it in one hour?

This is why HH played delay tactics against himself.

When you don’t understand things, why not ask those who know to guidance you.

Anyway, the problem comes in when you are so ignorant that you don’t even know that you don’t know.

  1. Which courts of law declared him the winner? The courts said the 14 days passed, they didn’t declare a winner.

  2. We need oppostion in Zambia. Not irritants.

When ecl say something . I will say the opposite . CMon is that opposition.

Yesterday he says sata ni chimbwi no plan.
    Today he says was good

    • The opposition are not there to work with PF. They are there to oppose so that they can chuck Lungu/PF out and take over power to implement their own agendas. #Democracy101.

    • Buck Teeth Lungu – Africa will not develop for as long as this type of thinking is shared by many in our societies – the propensity for power.

  3. In short it’s seems he is looking for UPND as an opposition to help in developing Zambia.By the way has Lungu visited the 250 people of Dundumwezi as he promised?

    • That’s what the opposition does. You and Lungu have no idea how democracy works. Opposition does not restart in 2021. It is continuous, always there, waiting for you to step out of line so that they pounce. #LiveWithIt.

  4. ONE DOES NOT CHOOSE THEIR OPPONENTS. IT IS HOW YOU RISE TOWARDS YOUR OPPONENTS THAT DECIDES YOUR FUTURE. IN ZAMBIA WE NEED STRONG OPPOSITION RIGHT NOW LIKE THE UPND ELSE WE WILL SLIDE BACK TO A ONE PARTY STATE. THE OPPOSITION IS THERE TO COUNTER ATTACK THE RULING PARTY ON THE WRONGS NOT SUPPORT THE RULING PARTY AT A FEE.

    • What Zambia needs is REAL democracy and not just democracy by government and dictatorship by the opposition. The opposition too MUST demonstrate democracy. In 1991, KK was voted out amidst accusations of being a dictator. His replacement came in claiming to be a proponent of democracy. Yet, this same man was President/chairman general of ZCTU from the late 60s or early 70s up until he became president of Zambia! Now, that is democracy! In all those years, there was NO ONE else that could lead ZCTU? Forget the rubbish about “That’s who the people want”. We have heard that line before. Show me an opposition party or indeed any political party in Zambia that has DEMOCRATICALLY transferred power from one SET of leaders to the next, then we can talk.

  5. Lazy is only flying to Mongu and the whole cabinet has to see him off…if Lazy was truly humble he would have stopped this wastage of fuel and human resources a long time ago.

  6. @2 Lombe, the courts do not declare a winner. As you have correctly observed, the 14 days elapsed so there was nothing for the courts to do to stop other processes. In simple language that can be understood by donkeys like you, the courts cannot hear expired cases so the moment a petition expires everything reverts back to the ECZ and the Chief Justice, whose simple task is to declare and swear in the winner respectively. When your tin of corned beef expires, does your life stop until they manufacture fresh beef? No, life goes on. Again because you are a donkey, the presidential petition is deliberately set for 14 days because a nation has to.move on. In France it’s actually 7 days because they want only quick facts. Imagine France being without a President for 7 days because some…

  7. Contd…Imagine France being without a President for 7 days because some opposition leader wants his petition to go on forever , ever heard of ISIS? Same reasoning applies to Zambia we copied the concept from others mind you?

    • FRANCE WOULD NEVER ALLOW THE RAMPANT CHEATING THAT WENT ON HERE IN 2016 PERIOD. IF WE ZAMBIANS WERE MORE STEADFAST THERE WOULD HAVE IMPEACHED LUNGU BY NOW.

  8. For a lawyer talk like that it is embarrassing. If Lungu reads the Constitution he will realise that once a Presidential Petition is lodged with Concourt the ECZ declaration of the President Elect is nullified. A new declaration of the Winner is required from Concourt. Concourt did not declare Lungu Winner of the 2016 Election and was therefore not duly elected by Concourt. Concourt did not hear the Petition and therefore could not determine the the Winner of the Election. Lungu’s legal arguments are very weak that is why he is blocking the Petition Hearing. In any Court of law Lungu’s arguments are highly flawed. Definitely Lungu did not win the 2016 Elections. He stole Election Victory from HH. It is pretty obvious. If this Petition is heard at ICJ Lungu will be embarrassed and…

    • #Mwansa, you have really broken this to the simplest. Thank you. To add, when a petition is presented to the ConCourt, the nullification of the ECZ declaration is supported by the transfer of power to the Speaker of Parliament. There was no such transfer. And the ConCourt never declared a winner.

    • 101
      (4) A person may within seven days of the declaration made
under clause (2), petition the Constitutional Court to nullify the
election of a presidential candidate who took part in the initial ballot
      on the ground that—
      (a) the person was not validly elected; or
      (b) a provision of this Constitution or other law relating to
presidential elections was not complied with.
      (5) The Constitutional Court shall hear an election petition filed
in accordance with clause (4) within fourteen days of the filing of
      the petition.
      (6) The Constitutional Court may, after hearing an election
      petition—
      (a) declare the election of the presidential candidate valid;
      (b) nullify the election of the presidential candidate; or
      (c) disqualify the presidential candidate from being a candidate
      in…

    • …the second ballot.
      (7) A decision of the Constitutional Court made in accordance
      with clause (6) is final.
Pay particular attention to part 4 which vividly states a person may petition to nullify…
The ConCourt will only nullify after satisfactory evidence presented by the petitioner convinces the Judges on the ground that a person was not validly elected or the law or the constitution was not complied with 4 (a) and (b).
hh and gbm, the petitioners and their lawyers FAILED SPECTACULARLY to provide the evidenvce for part 4 (a) and (b)!!

  9. Mr President don’t be cheated that the inmates murdered the ZAF officer..it was the same cops..yabaa ba ZAF are you going to keep quiet just like that sure after cops murdered your officer..nalamimwenamo better start sorting out these cops, if it was the army officer who was murdered it wouldn’t have been things..

  10. He is useless. Lusaka time are useless too for blocking me. Typical of a dictactor controlled drive by media.

  11. @ Terrible for the last time listen.Once a Presidential Petition is lodged with Concourt it must be heard and determined. Hearing the Petition means the Petitioners and the Respondents giving evidence to the Court and after weighing the evidence Concourt was supposed to either Nullify the Election or declare one of the Candidates Winner and duly elected President. Concourt did not do this and therefore Zambia has No Legitimate President at present. Illegitimate Lungu is in State House illegally. The so called “dismissal” of the Petition by Concourt on account of 14 days is irrelevant and a Nullity. # Let the Court hear the Petition urgently.

    • Yes the petition was lodged now tell us, what evidence was produced by the petitioners which proved that the elections were not free and fair during that 14days time frame? If you can tell us even half of the evidence which your hyena presented to support his petition I will understand you.

    • A more powerful question is why the Kangaroo Court judges failed to manage the court proceedings such that a decision could be made in 14 days. Are judges mere spectators in that court to sit and marvel at the lawyers until time is up? In football, a referee would red card a time wasting player. The responsibility is not to lapse the 14 days but to reach a verdict. These Kangaroo Court judges are the dumbest judges in the world.

  13. ECL and PF should ignore irritants in upnd!!!HH is a bad loser.i keep on reminding these bitter bantustans in upnd that late Michael Sata always moved on whenever he lost elections and came out too strong in next elections.HH does exactly the opposite.HH declared himself as 2016 elections winner even before we voted!!who does that?those few politicians who joined upnd and some few big rallies in Lsk and CB before 11/08/2016 made him think that he had already won.after the harsh reality catched up with him after 11/08/2016 HH became mad and gone on rampage lying that PF rigged 2016 elections when in fact not!!!SO ECL IS VERY RIGHT TO REJECT DIALOGUE WITH BITTER POLITICIANS SUCH AS HH WHO BELIEVE IN MYTH THAT IF NOT ME(HH) IN STATE HOUSE,THEN ZAMBIA IS IN WRONG HANDS-AMAZING!!!!HH HAS NO…

  14. The so called opposition parties that are supporting th ruling part are jst wings of the ruling party.I hv never cn thief supporting police officer unless some how somewhere thy meet.

  15. Lungu has finally capitulated that he did not win the elections. This goes in the history of Zambia that he is an illegitimate president of Zambia.
Posterity has it that Edigar Chagwa Lungu stole the elections results of 2016.

  16. Lungu is a disgraced Lawyer. He doesn’t know that once the Petition is filed with Concourt 3 things should have happened.1.The Petition nullified ECZ’s declaration of the President Elect. 2. The incumbent President Lungu was supposed to resign and handover power to the Speaker of Parliament to Act as President and allow the Petition Hearing to proceed without interference. Lungu abrogated the Constitution and refused to handover power to the Speaker. 3.Concourt should have held a Petition Trial but did not do so and as result Concourt failed to either Nullify the Election or declare one of the 2 candidates as Winner and duly elected. Concourt failed to either of the 2 things. Therefore Zambia has no legitimate President and Lungu was not declared by Concourt Winner and duly elected. The…

    • Doesn’t the constitution say something about the CONCOURT nullifying the result AFTER it has heard the case and determination is made that certain criteria for nullification has been met? If that be the case, then you are wrong in suggesting that the FILING of a complaint nullifies the result.

  17. The concourt waited patiently to hear what HH and his donkeys had brought as facts before the judges, instead, they started playing delaying tactics. eg (“We want to see the president elect)

    • Where were the judges when the lawyers were playing in the Kangaroo Court? Are judges mere spectators in that court? Aren’t they supposed to manage the court process so that a verdict can be reached within the set time limits?

    • Instead of treating the matter with the selangor it deserved, the ConCourt sessions were starting at 11:00 and closing at 15:00 after a 2 hour lunch break. And no work was done over weekends and then the same judges had the guts to declare that the time had lapsed! What dumbos!

  18. Looking for YESMEN, & WOMEN, WHO WILL TELL YOU YOUR CORRUPTION, INEFFECTIVE GOVERNANCE, & HOLDING ON TO KAIZER IS GREAT!??
    Dream on Drunkard!

  19. @7 kubweka, strong opposition like UPND? Come on, you out of your mind? You a donkey or arse, sorry I mean ass?

    • If UPND is not strong opposition, how come PF are so obsessed with them? PF never bothers about Saviour Chishimba, Green Chanda, Nawakwi or Winter Kabimba. That should tell you who scares them.

  20. Awe twanaka. It seems these UPNDonkeys can only listen to their fellow donkey hh. If the fellow donkey changed his mind today and said he was wrong all along, then these Cadre donkeys would sing in chorus ” we were wrong! We were wrong!”

  21. @Terrible, the courts do say who wins or loses after a case is heard then they judge.
Lungu must have been drunk again saying the judges said he won.
    NO JUDGMENT WAS MADE.

  22. As opposition it would only be right to help if Lungu has vision ,the passion and a roadmap to development but he a none of the above.Lungu is not Lee Kuan Yew.
Its better not to help, than to help a clueless, visionless and ill equiped “captain” steer the ship into mediocrity as his failures also become your failures.

  23. Notice is hereby given that Namwala and its subsidiaries must register all inhabitants in kraals to boost numbers of registered voters! All Under Fives must also be registered! This will make Namwala and its subsidiaries have a register that is blotted to beat even Copperbelt Province and match it with Lusaka during the “official count” of results. Every Under 5 child going to Under Five Clinic or who lives in all huts must also be registered to vote! When they tarry official figures on the register with the Electoral Commission and ours and they tell us ours looks “Under 5” we will cry like babies saying “Rigging! Rigging! Rigging!”

    • Your bitterness will destroy you! How can you be so bitter if you won? These are the dangers of a stolen victory. A Pyrrhic victory is not worth it. You will spend 5 years justifying your illegality and spewing hatred on innocent people.

  24. Me thinks this man is not sure whether he won the election. He continues going on and on about this issue and wait a minute, who gives him the authority to talk about a case that is before the court? Isn’t that contempt of court? PF please ask why your presidential candidate is always talking about not being recognized by the UPND whenever he is at the airport or some market? To me it seems like he knows something we may not know. You know n life, if you have done something wrong you just can’t enjoy life. Peace never dwells in you and you keep bubbling expecting someone to blurt out the truth for you.

    • Those are the dangers of a stolen victory. A guilty mind never sleeps soundly. Lungu’s Pyrrhic victory haunts him.

  25. In an Independent Court Lungu’s arguments are terriblely flawed and don’t make sense. In a Presidential Petition once filed with Concourt the ECZ Declaration falls way. Concourt after hearing the Petition and determining it, can declare a Winner duly elected. Lungu needs to produce a Concourt Judgment declaring him as the Winner of the 2016 Election and Duly elected. Concourt has No such Declaration becoz it did not hear and disposed off the Petition. Without a Concourt Declaration Lungu was illegally inaugurated. Lungu is an illegitimate President and Zambia has no Legitimate President. # The Petition must be heard in Court without fail. ECZ,Concourt, PF,UPND etc must have their Day in Court soon.

    • Because the CONCOURT did not hear the case as you state, am afraid, Lungu is the president. The court CAN nullify an election result AFTER it hears the case and determines that criteria for nullification has been met.

  26. No amount of insults and name calling will change the fact that LUNGU is president; no matter the opposition will rant and mumble or even complain it will not help them coz they were given 14 days to prove that they won but their lawyers failed to bring in evidence instead they ditched the case knowing it was waste of time. So I really pity the GBM and HH alliance because their misplaced petition will never work – USA has even increased budgetary allocation for Health by K20 million dollars which is was not going to be possible if they’d an issue with the electoral process. Hard luck UPND…see you in 2021!

  27. This leader is a joke, the electoral commission and courts of law decided, really? The issue was not exhausted, until the petition is head and disposed off fully, the issue of stolen elections will hang over your head. The rule of law should not only be respected but should be seen to be respected. We had a true lawyer in Levy for a leader and not this charade and masquerader of leadership. If truly Lungu means well, why not allow the petition to go ahead and let the dogs lye. I will meet the opposition if only they accept that am president, what a JOKE. Leadership is recognized and forced on people.

  28. @patriotic citizen.
USA increased donations to help the poor in Zed. If USA didn’t then Zed would really suffer more because lungu is increasing price daily.
Nothing to do with elections been fair.

  29. The Petitioners have accused Lungu of stealing their Election Victory so there is no question of Petitioners recognizing Lungu, as a suspected Election Thief ,as a Legitimate President. Lungu can forget this. Lungu is now blaming ECZ and Concourt for the Petition Handling mess. Well let ECZ and Concourt have their Day in Court. In an Independent and Competent Court Lungu will lose this case big time and could be jailed for committing Treason.#Let the Petition be heard in Court then the PF Bloggers will be embarrassed.

    • You made accusations and when given the platform to present evidence, what did you do? You thought the Constitution was going to be twisted to suit your wishes?

    • The only independent and competent court that can handle this issue in Zambia is The Constitutional Court created under the amended constitution your party was pushing hard for. The petitioners accused Lungu of stealing their victory but your petitioners were duly accorded the platform to PROVE their accusations by this court. But as history will tell us, your petitioners FAILED SPECTACULARLY to prove their accusations hence the ECZ declaration remaining INTACT!!

  30. When a head of state is not sure about himself, there is no settling down. We can’t concentrate on anything. The economy is in free fall but we are busy arguing about irrelevant issues of ICC. At this rate, there are hard times ahead and the debt crisis looks more certain as the first Euro bondage comes due in 5 years, 2022!

  31. A NEW “WOMEN ONLY” PARTY IS TO BE LAUNCHED SOON, AND WILL PROVIDE CHECKS AND BALANCES AS WELL AS PROGRSSIVE OPPOSITION TO ECL, NOT BITTERNESS. WOMEN WANT TO PROGRESS AND TAKE OVER AFTER ECLS’ TERM IN 2026, SO HERE WE COME. ALL INCLUSIVE, NO TRIBE, QUALIFICATION IS JUST TO BE A WOMAN..

  32. The status quo will continue until 2021 – hard luck Uncultured Political Nonentities and Dunderheads. The petition will never take off that’s for sure!

  33. Sometimes I wonder what caliber our discussants are. Some discussants digress so far from the main Topic such that it is hard to believe such people respond in their sober state. Even if you took one or two I don’t think you can forget to remember that this a fora where we need to educate each other and help the leadership to see what is right and what is wrong with some decisions they make, Why as Zambians we feel aggrieved by certain actions some government wings carry out and so on and so forth. Having dissenting views does not necessary have to place you into Opposition category but all that I see is people trying to blame each other for having different views from them.
Coming to the main topic, all that the President needs to do is to cage all those cadres that seem to agitate…

    • violence and let Ministers like Kampyongo understand that they are Serving Zambians first and foremost(PF,UPND,UPP,FDD etc) and that means that they have to handle issues pertaining to violence with great Caution. Threats don’t build but rather destroy the platform for healthy discussions and building a safe atmosphere for the opposition is just one of the preliminary requirements for successful inter-party dialogue. The Truth is their are Rogues amongst those masquerading as PF Die-hards and these are the ones that spoil the froth(taste of civilized politics.
It has been pronounced well, though with preconditions with tones of compelling whoever has to ‘wine and dine with us must meet this or that condition, but we are yet to see the commitment to implementation.
