Nkana kicked off the 2017 FAZ Super Division campaign with a frustrating 1-1 home draw against Nakambala Leopards on Saturday at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Striker Walter Bwalya scored a goal and missed a penalty as Nakambala came from behind to secure a vital away point from Wusakile.
Bwalya headed Nkana in front after 29 minutes from a Shadrick Musonda corner but missed a penalty in the 53 rd minute after Ronald Kampamba was fouled in the box.
Defender Lameck Banda equalised nine minutes before half time after beating keeper Kelvin Malunga with low shot.
Nakambala have keeper Reagan Lulendo to thank for preventing Nkana from scoring on several occasions.
Besides saving a penalty, Lulendo stopped Bwalya and Kampamba from scoring after making some fine saves in both halves.
This result is expected to put a smile on coach Mathews Phiri and his boys as they head to back to Mazabuka.

Nakambala leopards were a better side at the end day. I did watched the game and nkana was out played in all departments. When the penalty was wrongly given to them.
@Francis:fizungu ati “i did watched the game……”!!!!ITS “I DID WATCH THE GAME……”2017 season will be tough for all teams because Zambian football has really improved.well done Nakambala!!!
Nkana fire the coach and the executive committee only when the team will start winning. Mark my words.
Happy for Nakonde for forcing a draw against fellow debutant
