Kitwe Utd coach targets promotion to honour fallen fans

Kitwe United coach Ernest Koffi say the team will seek to win promotion this season in honour of three supporters who died in a road accident on Saturday.

Boniface Lungu, 26, Able Mwamba, 33, and Arthur Sakala, 45, all of Kitwe’s Kamitondo Township died on their way to Chingola for a FAZ Division 1 Zone 2 match against Chingola Police.

The trio were on Tuesday put to rest at Chingola Road Cemetery in Kitwe.

“It is our prayer that we work hard to win matches and get promoted to honour our supporters,” Koffi said after burial.

“It is very sad that we have lost people who loved the team so well,” the Ghanaian born-coach said.

Koffi added:”We pray that God will bring the families together.”

Seven other supporters are nursing injuries after the accident which occurred on Chingola Road just after Chambishi when a Noah registration number ACZ 4493 overturned due to a suspected tyre burst.
