Zanaco down Nchanga to go second

Share

Zanaco are second on the FAZ Super Division table after a 2-0 away win over Nchanga Rangers.

The win came just three days after they landed from Egypt where they held Al Ahly to a 0-0 away draw last Saturday in their 2017 CAF Champions League Group D opener in Alexandria.

Adamson Mulao scored both goals in the second half of this Week 6 fixture played at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.

But Zanaco played the last 67 minute of the match without their coach Mumamba Numba on the bench after he was sent off in the 23rd minute.

This is after Numba protested to referee Milton Mweemba when he did not book Isaac Shamujompa for a foul on striker Kwame Attram.

Meanwhile Mulao scored in the 51st and 86th minute to hand Zanaco the 3 points.

Zanaco could have added a third goal in the 88th minute from the spot but winger Saith Sakala’s penalty was saved by Pascal Kasonde.

Zanaco move from 3rd to 2nd on 13 points, exchanging places with Zesco who have 11 points.

The defending champions are now one point behind Lumwana Radiants.

And Zanaco’s win is a big boost for them ahead of Saturday’s big home showdown against Nkana in Lusaka.
