Minister of National Guidance and Religious Affairs Hon. Godfridah Sumaili has dismissed allegations that her Ministry has set up guidelines to prevent small churches from operating.
And Sumaili has said it was a total fabrication that her Ministry had set up guidelines demanding that Pastors should hold degrees in Theology.
She has also dismissed the claim that Churches should have a minimum number of 500 congregants failure to which they would face de-registration.
On Sunday in a live broadcast from his Pretoria Church, Controversial Malawian preacher, Sheperd Bushiri attacked Hon. Godfridah Sumaili and Copperbelt Minister, Bowman Lusambo.
He accused Ministry of National Guidance & Religious Affairs of setting rules that restricted Freedom of Worship.
Bushiri claimed that Sumaili had set up rules requiring that pastors hold a degree in theology and should have a minimum membership of 500 congregants.
He also claimed that he had evidence of wrong doing and illegalities that Sumaili had committed when she was Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission.
“There is a fake circulation, a false statement written by an unknown pastor claiming that the Ministry of National Guidance & Religious Affairs has promulgated regulations to the effect that:
1. Only Pastors with a degree holder in theology will be allowed to pastor/Shepherd a Church.
2. A church should have minimum 500 members or will be derigistered!”
“This is a total lie as the Bible in Mathew 18:20 states that: “For where two or more are gathered in my name, I am there “.

Granted that Zambians really saw the need for a Ministry of National Guidance and Religious Affairs appointing aligned Godfridah Sumaili to head it was a wrong call. Experience in Zambia has shown that heading a ministry does not call for one from among subject matter specialists even an atheist would have coordinated operations of this ministry well as s/he would not have any commitment to various religious beliefs but managerial skills!
Zambia is peaceful, more peaceful after putting HH behind bars. It would be sad to see HH walk to freedom, at least not before serving 21yrs.

Our Honorable Minister should not comment on the false prophet’s allegations. It will be a great thing not to allow such useless people to come to Zambia in the name of Christianity. Sadly, multitudes follow such ignorant prophets! Rules should be enacted against little theologies from misleading people. Zambia should recognize theological training in order to guide people in religious truth. It is important to actually set standard of education for preachers during this time of false prophecy in Zambia!

Zambia remains a fertile ground for business people, the way for them to get to the majority of people is to call themselves prophets. Biblical prophets preached repentance and not prosperity.

I agree with the minister. Having been involved in church organization for the past 29 years I have come to understand that many preachers are not called by God. They go into church ministry as a job as a source of earning a living. No brains of thinking to start up something with their own hands which God can bless. If all other options have failed religious ministry is the last option where they are assured of getting offering money from the unsuspecting spiritually starved desperate church members.
