Copperbelt Province Minister Hon. Bowman Lusambo has charged that His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu has demonstrated all the attributes of a true democrat and listening leader.

Hon. Lusambo who is also Kabushi Member of Parliament said President Lung has demonstrated his commitment to constitutionalism, good governance and the promotion of the rule of law in Zambia.

“Under President Lungu, the Great Leader of this great nation, we have seen a reduction in Executive Powers under the amended Republican Constitution,” Hon. Lusambo said.

He added, “There are those who mistook President Lungu for a weakling because of his humble nature but those who have worked with President Lungu know for a fact that his humility is because of personal discipline.”

Hon. Lusambo said there is nothing President Lungu has done outside his powers.

He said there have been instances when people have expected him to interfere with Court processes but he has stuck to the boundaries provided for his office under the law.

Hon. Lusambo also cautioned some elements opposed to President Lungu’s administration to respect the mandate that Zambians have given him to rule the nation.

“It is folly for some disgruntled elements to keep wishing to plant seeds of dissent in the nation by failing to respect President Lungu. Such maneuvers must be condemned strongly because even in our culture, leaders are given utmost respect and that is what that President Lungu deserves because he was overwhelmingly voted for in all corners of this great nation,” Hon. Lusambo said.

“It is therefore cheap propaganda to allege that the President is a dictator. The framers of our Constitution have created a democratic Presidency considering that the scope of his executive powers have been reduced compared to his predecessors.”

“I therefore call on Zambians to reject the narrative by some people that Zambia is under a dictatorship.”

  1. Sorry Bowman we do not agree with you! Only PF Ministers and direct beneficiaries of the PF regime can say what you have said! You are in fact paid to say what you have just said. For us who are outside PF, all the characteristics of dictatorship have been exhibited and we do not like what we are seeing!

    • TRENDING NOW!

      Loading…

South Africans are calling on their government to chase away all zambians who are in that country.

Aggrieved south Africans took it to social media that if their government is going to fail to chase away Zambians, they will take action.

According to some of the comments monitored by Zambian Watch, South Africans say Zambians must go back to what they term as a banana republic.

“These thugs must be taught a lesson, who told them that South Africa is same as Zambia,to make matters worse they started making noise in our country. Can government chase away these thugs to go and make noise in their own country”

“We can take action. We have to close our businesses and stop supplying products in that poor country.”

South Africa is known for the unity…

    • The problem Satombe is you are behaving like a donkey and not using your brain. The majority of the ANC, the party in power, owe the effort of their liberation to the support they got from Zambia. Then, if you kicked out Zambians out of South Africa and we acted just like them and threw out all their investments, WHO STANDS TO LOSE MORE???

    • Add to that list of pessimists the Catholic Bishops because this is what they wrote……….Our country is now all, except in designation, a dictatorship and if it is not yet, then we are not far from it. Our political leaders in the ruling party often issue intimidating statements that frighten people and make us fear for the immediate and future.

    • LUSAMBOA CAN’T BE FAR FROM THE TRUTH. ECL IS FAR AWAY FROM BEING A DICTATOR. IN FACT ECL IS TOTALLY THE OPPOSITE. ECL IS A DEMOCRAT. HE GAVE CHANCE TO PETITIONERS. HE WAS VERY PATIENT IN DEALING WITH THE CARTEL UNDER DR GUY SCOTT WHO WANTED TO IMPOSE LATE SATA’S NEPHEW ON PEOPLE. WHOLE THE WAY HE HAS LET THE DUE PROCESS OF THE LAWS OF ZAMBIA TAKE CHARGE. LIKE MOST ZAMBIANS, ECL, IS JUST A HUMBLE AND HAPPY PERSON. BUT, IT IS UNDERSTANDABLE, AGAIN TO APPRECIATE THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE PAID TO MAKE EMPTY NOISE FROM THEIR MASTERS. THEIR PAY DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH AND DISTURBING NOISE IS MADE. UNDER SUCH DESPERATION SUCH MOUTH PIECES CAN START TO HALLUCINATE.

    • Abash your laundered language. We are skeptics – that’s a little heavier than ‘pessimists’. Lungu’s dictatorship is not an allegation. It is an established fact. Calling a spade a spade is not pessimism, it is realism. It is practicality.

    • Dullness in pf is the way to go. A party who requires Lusambo to be the man to define democracy. Surely Zambia is a far gone country.

    • ECL will have a sad ending….He needs to find time to reflect, and reflect seriously and stop being blinded by scavengers around him. You cant have a guy hallucinating that some former colonialists are re-grouping up to take over Africa after 50-60 years of political independence. When is he going to recall that Africa has never really be independent in the first place…Exactly his two mentors’ line of thought, Museveni and Mugabe’s post colonial hangover…But what can we expect from a man in his late 50s who was going nowhere if it wasnt for Sata’s good will. ECL had made his family a destitude family in Chawama even when he had university degree. I greatly sympathise with PF cadres as they are just using the man for prersonal gain…extremely disheartening.

  2. SPREADING YOUR PROPAGANDA BOWMAN DOES NOT MEAN YOUR WORDS ARE TRUE. A DICTATOR USES STATE MACHINARY TO INTIMIDATE HIS PEOPLE BY OPPRESION AND TYRANNY. LUNGU IS A DICTATOR. ONLY A DICTATOR WILL SILENCE THE OPPOSITION BY LOCKING THEM UP. A FRIGHTENED PERSON EVEN FEARS HIS OWN SHADOW.

  3. Let us educate you on his dictatorial ways . 1. Where the police isn’t independent and as long as u re a law breaker but belong to them u re untouchable. 2. Only his way is right . Look at mangufuli. Someone wrote a song condemning his ways and his team wanted to stop the song from playing on radios but he said no let it play. Criticism should be there to better ourselves. 3. My fellow democratic bloggers will help me complete the list . Tiyeni nayo

  4. Definition of a Dictator “A dictatorship is a government or a social situation where one person makes all the rules and decisions without input from anyone else. Dictatorship implies absolute power — one person who takes control” The desperation of UPND to discredit the institutions of Zambia and ignore the civilised voices of the majority who voted for the current government will only plunge Zambia into unwanted civil strife. This is a perfect coctail for outside forces who have no interest in seeing Zambia prosper but smell an oportunity to loot our wealth. HH has been given ample time to present his cases through the courts and just like the elections, he chooses to waste his time in the hope that his so called friends will bail him out.

    • Futurezed, you have mixed up your facts. But we are not surprised! But please note, we are not happy with what PF is doing in our Country! Do you understand that the arrest and detention of HH is totally unnecessary? And now there are rumors that PF is scheming to poison HH. Imagine these same actions being done on Edgar, would you be happy? Please tell your PF colleagues not to set our country on fire because no one will be spared from the chaos!

  5. On the contrary by definition, the term dictatorship or absolute power fits in well with the way UPND has been managed by HH. He has done this with his business, the party he leads and naturally would extend his style to running the gorvenment. UPND should also remember that they are not the only opposition in Zambia and equally their relevance could be impacted at the next elections if they continue on this distruction path. We all love Zambia but when you start discrediting your own country without allowing due process of the law, you set the foundations of lawlessness and should be prepared to go through the same. This is one of the reasons Zambia is not where it should be in terms of development.

    • Which due process of the law are you talking about? Tell me which law was followed when the PF bandits arrested HH in a very brutal manner, urinated on his bed, defecated in house, damaged his house, stole his money and grabbed his cars?

    • @6 FutureZed

I know that your brain has the capacity for better performance. It only happens to be deluded, that’s all. Sad though that it is that way, very sad indeed.

  6. Please people don’t waste your time on this Lusambo he is too illiterate to understand the meaning of the word democracy.

  7. FutureZed which due process of the law,the judge in the last case which was dismissed said the law was not followed and the same characters are the ones in the treason trial so what is your point…investigate then arrest thats what happens in a democracy NOT the other way round.

  8. It is a shame that one can be a thug today at some bus station then tomorrow he is appointed minister of the mineral rich province or should I say the current economic hub a the nation. What has happened to us?The president himself is of a questionable character and most ministers are illiterate. Most top government appointments are also misplaced.

  9. If you are critical of the due process on HH cases, why are you not condemning the fact that he has already been aquitted on one of the charges? This is the same person who said he will only accept the election results only if he is the victor way before casting any ballots. You can’t have it both ways. Why is it so difficult for UPND to fight their cases in court and make whatever noises you want after the verdict? Why do you have to play the victim even when you have be cautioned about your rebellious behaviour so many times? This is not just outrageous it’s insane.

    • @ Futurezed, very refreshing thoughts there. No matter how well you explain it aba abanensu will not at all get it.
There are focused cults who just believe in what their supreme leader says. Yes people like @K. Bwalya a obviously distraught about their demi god’s predicament, instead of allowing the court to do their job, they just want the matter to disappear in thin air.
Allow them to lament, their obviously at pains.
Our Presido (ECL) is a democrat!!!

    • ARE YOU FORGETTING THAT ZAMBIA IS A DEMOCRACY? HENCE THE RIGHT AS OPPOSITION TO OBJECT TO WHAT THEY FEEL IS NOT RIGHT.

    • There is your problem right there.Democracy is not about expressing what you feel but exercising freedom and equality between people or a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through elected representatives usually through rule of the majority. Democracy is also about respecting the rule of law and premitive as it sounds, yes Zambia has rules that if anyone of us break or disrespect will end up in prison. So if you are prepared to break the law then equally prepare to be arrested and prove your innocence. This applies to everyone in Zambia including the president.

  10. Dr. Lusambo, why were you in MMD, if PF is a good party? Power is getting to your head. Absolute power corrupts remember that.

  11. What rubbish! Does this man think these useless words will change what has happened?
Does he really think Zambians are dull enough to believe this trash?

Lungu and his clowns like Lusambo have shot themselves in the foot by arresting HH.

Now it is international news, and they have thrown away the chance for an IMF bailout.

    Incompetence of the highest order!

    I D I O T S !

  12. Oh no Ba lusambo!!!!!!!. We have failed to build this country with people of your caliber. Aikona Honourable man mwapusa apo pena.

  13. Lusambo is a typical bootlicker who is full of trash. Such a person a minister in Zambia is a very big mistake, cadrelism and always able to eat feaces just to serve face.

  14. Because the country has lost its values, it depends on which side you are to say whether the man is a dictator or not. No objectivity whatsoever . Country is completely finished. # Please bring back the whites to rule us. Kulibe vamene vichitika

  15. That’s great, I am one that has rejected the narrative that the president is a dictator and intend to run against him in 2021. Zambians need real positive change that will make a big difference to their lives and I believe I am the person who can.

  16. Futurezed as you say if you break the law you should be arrested. Can you please explain the absence of charges against Kaiser Zulu for his outrageous and violent behaviour in front of the international media at heroes stadium.
Your succinct response would be appreciated .
Maybe i am wrong here but i always thought your were innocent until proven guilty.
You said you get arrested and have to prove your innocence.

  17. What an upside world we live in! So now the grass is blue and the sky is green. Only in Zambia –

    Democracy is:

Never holding a party convention; and

    Dictatorship is:

Being Zambia’s only President to allow 50%+1 system that is more representative than the simple majority system.

It will take more than politics to convince the people of Zambia that THE VALLEY IS HIGHER THAN THE MOUNTAIN!

  18. @K Bwalya – You are the one spreading those scheming rumors of poisoning HH. To you what HH and his morons did in Mongu is job well done and the arrest and detention of HH is totally unnecessary. The likes of you are the ones who are misusing democracy and expression of one’s rights as you have even forgotten about the rule of law. Why should ECL let one person ruin everything our forefathers work for? HH is where he is for breaking the law. Even you too if you break the law you will find yourself there. If making HH pay for his crimes is dictatorship then let it be.
