The Law and Development Association (LADA)in Monze has said that the suspension of the 48 UPND by the speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Patrick Matibini last week was a bad move .

Speaking in a telephone interview yesterday, LADA executive Director Mr. Collins Mumba said that that the absence of the MPs would result in the passing of subjective policies in parliament that might be detrimental to the well- being of the people not only in the opposition political parties but even in the ruling party.

“The suspension of the 48 MPS is clearly one way of oppressing and silencing the opposition MPs and it is apparent that the speaker presumably acted that way due to pressure from somewhere.

Truthfully speaking this is how dictatorship slowly creeps in because now there would be no constructive debates on policies that would benefit the majority Zambians,” said Mr. Mumba.

Mr. Mumba further said there was need for government to allow state institution such as the judiciary, police to operate independently so as to revamp public confidence in these institutions.

And LADA says the perceived political tension in the country is due to lack of dialogue among political players to find lasting solution to the prevailing political impasse.

Mr. Collins Mumba said lack of dialogue between the ruling party and the opposition UPND was the major cause of the political tension in the country.

He said it was a pity that the two major political parties have failed to sit down and find an amicable solution to the political tension that is seriously threatening the democracy the country has enjoyed for many years now.

“As LADA we believe that dialogue is the potent way to resolve any political differences as this has been done in the past to settle political impasse,”Mr. Mumba said.

Last week Friday the three Church Mother Bodies comprising Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCC), THE Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ), Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) issued a strong worded public statement at a press conference criticizing the deteriorating human rights and political climate in the country.

  1. The speaker Patrick Matibini is a PF cadre who is very happy with the PF parliament to please visionless dictator Lungu~sha economy.

Matibini failed to assume responsibility of taking power from Lungu to pave the way for the presidential petition hearing.

Democracy is dead in Zambia, thanks to cadre Matibini.

    • LET THE SPEAKER INSTILL DISCIPLINE AS HE SEES IT FIT – HE IS THE BOSS OF THE HOUSE AND HE IS LEGALLY DOING IT
      ==================================
It remains to be seen if the the speakers punitive measures against UPND’s absentee and ruaway MPs will bear any tangible fruits. I honestly do not care how he should have administered his punishments to these irresponsible representatives of the electorates but they had to be punished anyway. How the he.ll you discipline your own kids at home is non of our business as long as you are not dehumanize them.

    • Do not blame Matibini for not taking the presidency during the petition. Lungu was supposed to hand over to him. Otherwise he would also be in courts today being persecuted. I do not like his move of suspending the UPND MPS however.

    • I believe that those MPs were supposed to attend the state of the nation address by the president to represent their electorates, instead they chose to represent the grievances of their UNDP president and boycott the address. They walked out of parliament, and the speaker just extended their wish of walking out of parliament!

  2. Truthfully speaking LADA raises some good points. What they have missed though is that the onus and responsibility lay squarely on the UPNDonkey MPs to act responsibly and avoid this situation. Ask yourselves LADA, do we really need dialogue to avoid such stupiod actions? Was it necessary? Didn’t the UPNDonkeys make it clear from the time they lost elections that they would not cooperate with their political counterparts as long as they remained the losing party? Didnt the UPNDonkeys state in no uncertain terms before the elections that they would not accept any result where they lost tge elections? Is it normal for any person to hold the nation to ransom and even set it on fire over elections that have passed and were declared free and fair by EVERYBODY else in Zambia and the world?…

    • What good governance adherence advice can come from Monze. They are always negative!Mwanawasa was bad, Chiluba was bad, RB was bad, and Sat was bad!!!

  3. What did you LADA and your so called “christian” Telesphore Mpundu do to pump wisdom into the UPNDonkeys and their U5 donkey? Do you really believe that you can convince a donkey to listen to others? The UPNDonkeys could not be treated with kid gloves when actually they broke the rules deliberately because they believed wrongly and stupiodly that they were too important to be punished? Are the UPNDonkey MPs not aware that they represent their electors and not themselves in parliament? Now they are suspended is it U5 who suffers or the constituents who wasted their votes on this bunch of self seeking brsin dead UPNDonkeys?
TO DEAL WITH A DONKEY TREAT IT LIKE A DONKEY, GIVE IT GRASS NOT BEEF.
THIS IS A GOOD LESSON. WE APPLAUD THE SPEAKER FOR SUCH COURAGE.
    Lets see what happens after…

  4. Lets see what happens after the 30 day suspension. If no change we go for by elections, costly it is but it will show how responsible UPNDonkeys are for the good of Zambia and which will indicate whether they can be a responisible government that will not waste national resources in such stupio.d manner. I hope LADA will discover a way of communicating with a Donkey, the rest of us cannot, do not know how and will not bother because we have only been taught how to deal with fellow human beings since independence. LADA is free to call on the Vets to assist or use some of Dip tanks to remove the ticks from the Donkeys, it is known to work with cattle.

  5. Dialogue is a two way process. It is necessary for the Ruling PF Party to take a lead in that Dialogue. Lungu and PF have spurned Dialogue since the August 2016 Disputed and Petitioned Election. Lungu has blocked the Hearing of the Petition and has resorted to killing the Petition by incarcerating the Petitioner. Lungu is using State Institutions to persecute and jail HH on Trumped Up Charges. He is using Treason and the Jail as weapons to force HH to abandon the Petition and recognize Lungu as President. HH and UPND insist that Lungu can only be recognized after their Petition is heard and Lungu is declared the Winner and duly elected President. HH and UPND will not recognize illegality. Its a Stalemate. SADC and AU need to mediate the Dispute in the same way Ecowas and AU did in Gambia…

    • How many times has PF taken the initiative to call dialogue and how many time have these donkeys refused to dialogue. At one point, all opposition parties met, except the donkeys who refused. How special are they? What illeglity are they talking about.Elections are decided by the votrs, not courts.Surely, have we forgotten the jubilation there was when the petition failed due to dullness of upandown? There were celebrations in the streets, and compounds. Was that not affirmation of the results by the people?CCome on people, especially you hate critics, grow up!!

  6. @ mwansa. what does one do when the i.di.ots you wish to dialogue with do not recognize you. In what capacity are you going to dialogue. So this nonsense of dialogue is neither here nor there. Up and Dopwn party just needs to reconcile with their winding brains and come to reality.

    • The problem with PF including their cadres like Mweepo think that they are above the law and all other political parties must dance to their tune (they are the ones to call the shots). These guys should know that its about setting a precedence in this country and NOT about PF. PF won’t be in power for life that is what they should realize. One day they will be in opposition and they will need good laws. Citizens learn from this! Don’t elect illiterates and criminals to be your leaders, this is the result- lawlessness.

  7. Terrible. In your head you are calling people that God created as Donkeys??? And you expect God to bless you and yours. As a person who was created in God’s image I refuse to be called a Donkey but decree with my mouth that every evil that you desire for UPND Members shall before you in Jesus name. May you reap the hate every evil word that you have spoken to people that have done nothing wrong to you in Jesus name. May your reaping be Terrible as per to your name. May God himself fight you for calling him a liar in the sense that you are called what he called people as donkeys implying that he lied by calling UPND members as human beings

  8. @Mwansa.Yr analysis is spot on but SADC is a Toothless Bulldog full of Dictators like Mugabe who support fellow Dictators like Lungu. In fact PF is a creation of Mugabe and Lungu is mentored by Dictator Mugabe. So don’t expect anything good from docile SADC. When 2 elephants fight the grass suffers. The biggest casualty from this Election Dispute is the Economy and the people. Without IMF Loan, Donor Aid and Western Investors the Zambian Economy will collapse. Zambia will default on its external Debt and the Zambian Economy will implode further.

  9. Ba Kachema, Tongas are second class citizens who cannot take care of people but cattle. Only Easterners and Northerners have been anointed to run the affairs of this country otherwise we could have a disaster if we allow these ba Kachema to govern. Actually they should thank us for taking care of them.

  10. LADA executive Director Mr. Collins Mumba is a good student of geography. He is smart as he was in Southern region where he conveniently aired his biased views under fear of reprisals in the UPND stronghold. Would Collins Mumba recite the same UPND nonsense in Chipata, Isoka, Mansa, Mbala or Ndola? From which University’s School of Law did this Director of The Law and Development Association obtain his Law degree? Is it possible that Ba Collins Mumba was unaware of the behavior of UPND MPs in Parliament last year and this year when the Republican President addressed Parliament. I have traveled extensively in several parts of Southern Province. I usually sail through that region by merely shutting up my political views as I conduct my research. Take my advice Ba Mumba.

  11. I wonder if there will be any development in their constituencies if they can this busy nagging about the past election. No wonder their people are the only ones complaining about the poor state of their areas, and at the end of it all they start crying Boma Boma…I hope this time they know whom to blame. DULL…

  12. I wonder a wise and learnt Dr. Matibini can’t be rated as Party Cadre amidst the skewed reaction.

Does he see this or extetnal pressure blindness?!!!

  13. Please no matter how offended u are be calm,yo response to some who makes a mistake can also be a mistake.you need to forgive because u also need to be forgiven.math6:15.God bless zambia.
