Minister of Finance Felix Mutati says Zambia’s Gross Domestic Product -GDP- growth projection for this year has been revised from 3.2 percent to 4 percent.

Mr. Mutati says the projection was revised by multilateral organisations.

The Minister of Finance disclosed this when he officiated at the 8th Association of Chartered Certified Accountants -ACCA- Members Reception and launch of ACCA Zambia Advocate of the Year Awards in Lusaka.

Mr. Mutati stated that government had focused on achieving growth, reducing inflation and stabilizing the exchange rate within the first five months of this year.

He said government has managed to bring down the cost of money using various tools.

Mr. Mutati has also revealed that the Zambia Revenue Authority has received over 100 applications from the private sector for the amnesty on penalties on taxes and fines owed to it.

He said the move is meant to promote private sector contribution to the economy and has since appealed to those who have not done so to take advantage of the situation before the deadline.

Mr. Mutati said government wants the engagement of accountants like ACCA members to provide professional advice and embrace dynamic thinking that will help contain the fiscal deficit.

And Head of ACCA Zambia Mukaba Mukaba expressed optimism that Zambia will not be left out as most economies rebound.

Meanwhile, ACCA Network Panel Chairperson Sean Mukelabai congratulated the new ACCA members and fellows for having gone through the demanding requirements.

He has since appealed to them to ensure they keep the reputation of the ACCA brand as ambassadors in their professional and private lives.

  1. Vayamba kuchitika. I guess we just have to continue working hard and be patient. Rome was not built in a day. Donkeys must be panicking!!!

    • ODE TO THE DICTATOR FROM CHAWAMA

      Out of smelly chaotic Chawama,
      Crawled a gangly drunken worm
With no morals, but integrity torn
With teeth as a buck, tall as a Llama

Raised on Jemason with fingers long
He staggered and stabbed his way
To a throne he stole from a Sata tray
Demented with an ego, vile and strong

In HH he found a strong opponent
A champion of hard work and thrift
Who he jailed and tortured aswift
Lungu’s ire and envy set afire, and violent

      The eternal kaponya turned dictator
Violent of character with none to tell
Stared in the abyss of his evil core
Jumped and drowned in his own hell

    • Tell that to a man on the street without a job and no food, That means nothing if its not going to give jobs to poor Zambians, What does hat 4% mean Mr Mutati, More money in EL pockets

  2. The second biggest economy on earth has already picked this good news and its hitting headlines on the media broadcasts. Let UPNDonkeys choke with envy whilst Zambia development drive gains momentum.

  3. A serious statement from an entire Minister of Finance regarding revision to GDP growth rate from 3.2% to 4.0% without disclosing which sectors of the economy will drive such growth? How? Reporter inadequacy or Minister inadequacy or both? Shocking!

  4. The earlier President Lungu fires the clueless Minister of Finance, the better. Zambeef and Zambia Sugar just reported loss during the same quarter and the cost of doing business increased due to increased power tarrifs! The Minister of Finance as chief economic adviser to the President needs to be bald and guide that the continued political tension is hurting economic progress and investment. Sweet sounding statistics wont just do it this time ba Mutati, Moodys assessment political tension impact Zambia on credit quality and will increase the cost of financing the debt as well as impact investment flows. Mutati has clearly failed to come up with a clear strategy on boosting economic growth and job creation.

    • …when Mutati endorsed hh in 2015, he was a financial genius. He saw the s.t.u.p.dity in upnd where hh is a demi god and can’t be questioned and he answered ECL’s call to drive the country forward. Today he is clueless. Whatever is disagreed with upnd is bad. What kind of leaders would these donkeys be???

  5. I have never heard a dont aguing a human being and all who call others donkeys are the animals of the first centuary. They have no reason to give but to insult others. Satan shall knock you down one day. Think reasonably and yap at last.

  6. Recently we petitioned 23 energy firms in scandanevia who we thought might invest in Zambia energy sector.

We highlighted the democratic abuses by the lungu regime where opposition are denied rights to hold rallies, their leaders are not allowed to greet supporters. Etc. Etc.

Democratic right the Scandinavians take for granted.

We have had very favourable responses from most this those companies.

  7. Unemployment at 7.4% so that means only 1.1 million pipo out of 15 million are unemployed. When and how did bureau of statistics survey and come up with this figure. Does subsistence farming count as employment
