A delegation of over 14 Finish investors are in Zambia exploring investment opportunities in various sectors of the economy.
In a statement unveiled to the media yesterday, Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Director Investments Matamwandi Matongo said the major sectors the investors are interested in are energy, mining, forest, service, manufacturing, construction and the financial sectors respectively.
Mr. Matongo said the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and other Government institutions and departments have been at hand to explain the numerous investment projects and opportunities available for investment to the investors at a business forum in Lusaka.
And Mr. Matongo on behalf of ZDA presented investment opportunities and projects in the manufacturing, energy, tourism, agriculture and infrastructure sectors.
Mr. Matongo listed the major opportunities for investment and partnerships across sectors.
“Opportunities in the energy sector include solar energy projects, geo-thermal plant and biofuel energy projects”
“While in the manufacturing and agro processing sectors, opportunities include processing edible oils, food mineral processing and light engineering,” he explained.
“In infrastructure sector, there are opportunities in constructing of grain storage facilities, road projects, real estate which includes offices, housing units, hotels and sports facilities. On the other hand, in the tourism sectors, vast opportunities exist in constructing hotels and conference facilities as well as lodges among others,” he noted.
Mr. Matongo further emphasized the need for partnerships between Zambians and foreign investors in investment projects for value addition and employment creation across the country.
The Director Investments in addition unveiled the various tax and non-tax incentives for investors that invest in a priority sector and are operating from either a Multi facility economic zone, an industrial park or a rural area.
Other government institutions that presented various opportunities include the Industrial Development Corporation, ministry of energy and the ministry of mines supported by various private sector players in the Zambian economy.
Today the 7th September 2017, the companies with interests in mining will engage in round table discussions with Zambian mining companies in Zambia and later meet the Minister of Mines and the Minister of Energy.

The Finish investors are keen in increasing the collaboration between Zambia and Finland.

The visit by the Finish delegation is beneficial for economic development. The list of investment opportunities also looks excellent. The continued focus of attraction of investment in the country will result in economic opportunities, including revenue, income, tax and employment.
