Chief Government Spokesperson Kampamba Mulenga has said that Government is aware of a scheme by some unscrupulous people to dent her image as Chief Government spokesperson through fabrications on social media.
In a statement released to the media yesterday Ms Mulenga said that government is currently looking at enforcing laws against cybercrime, including online falsehoods.
The Chief Government Spokesperson said that this scheme of fabricating stories and publishing them online with a seal of the Chief Government Spokesperson is meant to pit citizens against the Patriotic Front leadership so that citizens could rise against Government.
The Chief Government Spokesperson has also warned individuals who are writing falsehood stories on social media that it is just as criminal online as it is in hard copy to write and publish falsehoods purported to have been authored by another individual.
Ms Kampamba’s statement comes after a fake online article headlined; ‘Minister Supports arresting of men who dump women after a year of dating’.

Government would like to distance itself from a fabrication online headlined; ‘MINISTER SUPPORTS ARRESTING OF MEN WHO DUMP WOMEN AFTER A YEAR OF DATING’.
Government is aware of a scheme by some unscrupulous people to dent my image as Chief Government spokesperson through fabrications on social media.
This scheme of fabricating stories and publishing them online with a seal of the Chief Government Spokesperson is meant to pit citizens against the Patriotic Front leadership so that citizens could rise against Government.
Recently, there has been a flurry of falsehoods on social media where my name has been used either saying things meant to annoy citizens or having been involved in some malpractices all meant to scandalise my person as well as Government.
Government is currently looking at enforcing laws against cybercrime, including online falsehoods, and would like to warn individuals who have taken to such vices that it is just as criminal online as it is in hard copy to write and publish falsehoods purported to have been authored by another individual.
On the story in question, I would like to categorically state that I did not have any interview with Muvi TV as claimed by the author of the said fabrication. Muvi TV, themselves, can attest to the fact that no such interview took place.
Government has no intentions of coming up with the said law because Government does not introduce laws that intrude into people’s private lives neither does it craft laws aimed at targeting individuals as that is against citizen’s rights in a democracy.
Government supports citizen journalism which has come about because of technological advancements but does not support publication of falsehoods, especially meant to alarm and infuriate citizens.
Government would like to urge citizens not to believe such online publications at face value, and would also like to urge professional media not to fall prey to such criminal acts being purveyed online.
Ms Kampamba is a liar .PF govt has been proven to be signing corrupt deals and PF govt was proven by the courts to have perpetrated lies against Rupiah Banda.
