Zesco United open five-point lead

Zesco United on Wednesday opened a five point with four games left to play after beating promoted Buildcon at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Zesco beat 9th placed Buildcon 1-0 thanks to a John Chingandu goal in the 22nd minute.

The five-time champions have 66 points leaving defending champions and 2nd placed Zanaco in their wake on the final stretch.

It was forgettable Wednesday for Zanaco who were beaten 1-0 at home at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka by 5th placed Lusaka Dynamos who have 59 points.

Emmanuel Habasimbi ‘s 29th minute goal hurt Zanaco’s hopes of a retaining the league title and collecting a double for that matter following their Barclays Cup victory in October.

Green Buffaloes have joined Zanaco on 61 points after salvaging a 1-1 home draw against mid-table Nkwazi at Edwin Emboela Stadium in Lusaka.

Steward Chikandiwa put Nkwazi ahead in the 46th minute but Diamond Chikwekwe levelled matters in the 52nd minute.

Meanwhile, Mufulira Wanderers enhanced their survival hopes after rising from 17th to 16th with a 1-0 away win over 3rd from last Konkola Blades in Chililabombwe through a second half Guily Manziba goal.
