Nkana beat Green Eagles

Nkana edged Green Eagles 1-0 at home in Kitwe on Wednesday to keep alive their chances of finishing in the top four.

Kalampa stayed fourth on the table despite increasing their tally to 65 points from 36 matches played.

Ex-Nkana defender Warren Kunda scored an own goal after 64 minutes in this Week 36 match played at Nkana Stadium in Wusakile.

Kunda tapped in a Jacob Ngulube strike after a long pass from Dieugo Apanane to beat keeper Robert Mwanza.

A minute after, Eagles thought they had equalised but referee Evans Mulenga controversially disallowed Isaac Ngoma’s goal.

Mulenga at first allowed the goal to stand after Ngoma’s shot is believed to have crossed the goal line before being cleared by the Nkana backline.

But the referee changed his decision five minutes later after consulting his assistants for several minutes.

The referee’s questionable decision didnt do down well with the Eagles camp that protested even after the match.

Later in the 71st minute, Ronald Kampamba “Sate Sate” saw his close range header ruled out for alleged offside after a pass from Harrison Chisala.

Meanwhile, Eagles remain in 13th place with 40 points after 36 matches played.
