    • Nice name: Godbless. Get well boy.
I don’t mind about such ministers, what was he doing in weekend with government vehicle?

    • What do you expect from someone who was just appointed, have you ever seen or heard in electoral functional societies like USA, a senator, governor of a state or province been appointed? Not even a single person voted for him, but asked to run the affairs of people who did not vote for him, the only thing on his mind is eat and drink, he is not accountantable to anybody. How do push for a vote of no confidence, when you didn’t vote for him, such is life in electoral dysfunctional societies.

    • But Secretaries equivalent to our ministers are not elected but appointed. Looking at the situation, there was no alternative but to appoint a minister who as you said was not elected. How was it going to look if an elected MP from outside the Southern Province was put as Minister in charge of that province. In any case the accident has nothing to do with being appointed or elected.

    • That’s why am proposing that provincial ministerial positions should be elective positions. If we managed to change with mayors, why not provincial ministers, are they not equivalent to state governors in the USA? Take note bro, am only talking about provincial ministers and not appointees for ministries like kalakacha.

    • That’s a constitution matter. In fact it was proposed that minister’s appointment should be outside parliament but somehow the proposal didn’t go through.

  1. Sad incident but thank God no one died. So are we going to say the driver doesn’t have a license? That the vehicle was not road worthy?
Facts are this and Ratsa should be releasing statistics – most accidents involve drivers who have valid driving licenses and their vehicles have passed fitness tests!

The problem with Zambian drivers is OVERSPEEDING! And not observing simple rules such as pulling back to allow overtake, parking behind the yellow line, changing to low beam from high beam at night etc etc- these things drivers already know but they need to be constantly reminded and this is what Ratsa is supposed to do by way of public information campaigns. Road accidents are a pandemic and information is key to addressing this new terrible killer!

  2. I can’t believe those protected inside the metal cage are the ones rushed to to better hospital while a young one with a cracked head was left in Kalomo hospital.

  3. IN BOTSWANA MPs AND MINISTERS GO TO WORK WITH THEIR PERSONAL VEHICLES AND WHILE EXECUTING OFFICIAL DUTIES DURING THEIR WORKING HOURS THEY USE OFFICIAL VEHICLES AND WHEN THEY FINISH WITH THEIR OFFICIAL DUTIES THEY LIVE OFFICIAL/GOVERNMENT VEHICLES AND JUMP INTO THEIR PERSONAL VEHICLES TO GO HOME. WHY DON’T WE LEARN GOOD ECONOMIC HABBITS FROM OUR NEAREST NEIGHBOURS. IT IS NOT LIKE I AM TALKING ABOUT EUROPE WERE SOME PRESIDENTS/PMs GO TO WORK ON BICYCLES AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT. I AM MAKING REFERENCE TO OUR NEIGHBOUR, BOTSWANA.

    • BUT PARDON ME IF THIS VEHICLE IS HIS OWN AND NOT A PUBLIC PROPERTY. WITH HIS/HER PERSONAL VEHICLE HE/SHE CAN DO ANYTHING WITH IT- BASH IT MILLION TIMES WITHIN A MINUTE. WHO CARES?

  4. Get well soon my dear Godbless. The minister was a passenger so he escapes careless driving charge. But driver must be charged for careless driving, if I had my way even attempted killing of an innocent little soul. All children are innocent so you evil drivers must respect their right of way at all times.
