NDC Consultant Chishimba Kambwili has been charged with three counts of forgery, altering false documents and giving false information, Police spokesperson has said.
President Lungu fired Hon Kambwili from Cabinet for frustrating efforts by the Anti Corruption Commision to carry out investigations on suspected corrupt acts he committed.
Addressing the media shortly after Mr Kambwili was charged, Police spokesperson Esther Katongo said the charges were not politically motivated but purely criminal matters.
“We have charged Hon. Chishimba Kambwili with three counts as follows: 1. Forgery which is contrary to section 342, 2. Uttering False documents contrary to section 352 and Giving False Information to a public officer contrary to section 125 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. He will appear in Court soon,” Said Ms Katongo
“As Police, we wish to state that the summoning of Hon. Kambwili has nothing to do with politics as he insinuated when he addressed the media yesterday but that this is purely a criminal matter.”
And Chilufya Tayali who reported the matter to the police has vowed to make Mr Kambwili pay for some of the sins he committed to Zambians whilst claiming to be as white as KK’s Handkerchief.
Kambwili yesterday told journalists that police went to search at PACRA and discovered that he had signed annual returns on behalf of his son who is the director at Mwamoneni Engineering, a company he claimed he had nothing to do with.
Meanwhile, Chilufya Tayali has said he is ready to testify in court with evidence of how Mr Kambwili opened bank accounts, signed contracts using his son’s name, collected money and never finished the projects yet no one touched him because he was a bully of a minister.
In an effort to hide his corrupt acts, Hon Kambwili upon being fired for corruption, embarked on a smear and mudslinging campaign where he has been on rumpant accusing goverment officials of corruption in every massive developmental project being undertaken.
In a similar attempt, yesterday Kambwili held a press briefing with the hope of creating a public perception that he was being tormented but it is yet to be seen how long he will keep evading the long arm of law.
