Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya has said that she is disappointed with the services of Atlas Mara Bank and UBA Bank in the implementation of the e-voucher during this farming season.

Ms Siliya said that the of the eight banks engaged by government, the two banks have been disappointing, adding that even Barclays Bank which was engaged late has done well in terms of activating the cards.

Ms Siliya stated that despite government releasing the money, the two banks have been taking too much time to load the money onto the cards.

The Agriculture Minister said this when she checked on some agro dealers in Chongwe after some farmers could not access the inputs despite their cards showing they had money in them, owing to the failure by some banks to load the money onto the cards.

Ms Siliya later visited Atlas Mara Chongwe branch to find out why the bank was not activating the cards despite the government releasing the money.

And Atlas Mara Bank Chongwe Branch Manager Judith Nalumino said the activation of the e-voucher cards is done at the Head office in Lusaka after the District Agricultural Coordinator has submitted the list of the cards to be activated.

  1. Thanks my man, everything new has some babysteps and teething to go through first before perfection.
Think about the first time you had a Nutt, you probably just parked it and expected results…

  2. It’s abundantly clear that since Lungu’s ascension to power, democracy in Zambia has steady fast been dying in the darkness, and there is no single element of doubt in my mind that Dora Siliya, Mumbi Phiri and Lungu himself are the “the darkness.”

  3. The bidding process of the E-Voucher system was marred with corruption. How did banks without branches in certain districts win the tender? UBA has no branch in Zimba district – they won the tender for that district. Atlas Mara has no branch in Mungwi district – yet they won the tender for that district.
KUDOS to Indo-Zambia, ZANACO, Stanbic for they lead the pack.
The E-Voucher is here to stay.

  4. How do you win a tender for some district when your bank doesn’t even have a branch there? Hmmm, Muli masobela mu Zambia I tell you.

  5. Yet you have a President talking ignorantly about creating an enabling environment for local firms…how did a bank created less than 5 years ago Atlas Mara Bank with not clear footprint in the country win such contracts …How can you then sit there and say you are disappointed? We are disappointed with you for giving them the contract…its February and you are still talking about e-voucher.
Go to Zimbabwe and see how Eco-cash system is working there…Go Kenya and see but we know you are too corrupt and want to cut corners in everything. You are not fit for that office and are as incompetent as the one who appointed you Lazy Edgar Lungu.

Hon Dora Siliya, please leave the banks alone, just ensure that all the upndeez District and Provincial Agricultural Coordinators (DACO and PACO) are weeded out. And they are easy to identify, wherever e-voucher has not worked its them as culprits. Why do you think it has worked everywhere except those few? Upndeez agenda to frustrate you of course.

  7. WHAT IS E-VOUCHER,,Is it something for ONLY poor BLACK AFRICANS because i have never heard such word or service in Japan where Iam enjoying myself , no cholera, no malaria, no chibuku, no tujilijili, no grass thatched houses, newspapers are full of economic news and technology, not zambian papers i can even predict tomorrows headlines such as…LUNGU FIRES WARNING SHOTS AT E-VOUCHERS DETRATORS, ZAMBIA ELIMINATED BY FANCY SWAZI AT CHAN 2018, ZAMBIA PLEADS FOR AID TO ERADICATE CHOLERA …papers are full of talks to injure others , uchende, ukabwalala, diseases, cholera eish not inspiring

  8. You do not need to have a branch to use a Card on a POS machine. Which bank has a branch in pick & pay or Choppies? How then is it that your account gets debited anyway? Don’t comment on this you do not know….

    • As much the cards are Visa based, for one to have the card activated one needs to deposit money in the account. How do you deposit if there’s no branch available? You probably don’t know how the E-Voucher system works.
