Nkana slow have a good idea of 2018 Confederation Cup foe

Nkana may have a relatively good idea who their 2018 CAF Confederation Cup opponents will be in next month’s second round.

Nkana are the only one of Zambia’s four continental representatives who did not see any preliminary stage action that kicked off this weekend after they were handed a bye.

Their prospective opponents, Onze Createurs of Mali and Algerian club CR Belouizdad, finished 1-1 in Bamako on Friday.

The return leg decider will be played in Algeria on February 21.

Nkana will be away in the first leg next month.

In the 2018 CAF Champions League, Zanaco may be heading to Swaziland next month if all goes according to script.

Mbabane Swallows were 4-2 away winners over Bantu Rovers in Lesotho in their first leg on Sunday.

Zanaco, who beat Gambia AF 4-0 in Lusaka on Saturday, will be home in the first leg in March.

Meanwhile, in Benin today, Buffles du Borgou finished 1-1 at home with ASEC Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire in their first leg.

Winner next week will travel away in the first leg to either Zesco or JKU who also finished 1-1 in Zanzibar on Saturday.

Zambia’s other CAF Confederation Cup opponents Green Buffaloes who lost 4-0 away to El Masry must overturn that result against the Egyptians next Wednesday for a prospective second round date against Simba of Tanzania.

Simba beat Gendarmerie of Djibouti 4-0 in Dar-es-Salaam on Sunday.
