THE planned opposition motion to impeach President Edgar Lungu once Parliament opens , is an exercise in futility as it will be defeated because the Patriotic Front (PF) has more Members of parliament, says special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda.

Mr Chanda said “kadancer’ political parties” will be wasting their time by taking an impeachment motion to Parliament because its failure is “as certain as the sun rising tomorrow”.

Speaking in Lusaka yesterday when he met media representatives, Mr Chanda said the futility of that motion of no confidence of impeachment was just exactly what it was because the President had a comfortable working majority in Parliament.

He said those who want to exercise their democratic right as political ‘kadancers’ are free but quite clearly the defeat of such a motion was assured.

Mr Chanda however said it was their democratic right to do so, therefore the motion can be presented to parliament for further debate.

And Mr Chanda said Government did not need an external body instructing it on what to do because President Edgar Lungu had already put in place policies to strengthen the economy and therefore Zambia will not go to the ends of the earth trying to secure an IMF deal.

Mr Chanda said the programme was ongoing and yielding results adding that there was significant control of expenditure, a strict adherence to budget credibility and principles embedded in the programme.

He said newly appointed Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe would next week be making a policy statement on the IMF position.

“Minister of Finance honorable Mwanakatwe will be making a policy statement within the course of next week to outline the control measures that government has put in place with regards to issues coming out of the Auditor General’s report, realignment and restructuring of debt with the Chinese government and contractors.

“But I know she will say the IMF negotiations with Zambia will have to be constructed on the basis of what Zambia thinks is right for the country…whatever program shall be agreed upon shall be pro poor therefore strong emphasis on social sectors, health and education, health and sanitation, investments in programs for the poor, social cash transfer.”

Meanwhile, Mr Chanda disclosed that the government was in talks with European Union to for support as well the American government.

He said the Government had advised Commonwealth envoy Professor Gambari to delay his visit to Zambia until the cholera crisis was contained.

“Yes the Commonwealth has been in touch with government and we advised Professor Ibrahim Gambari to delay his return in February because we were dealing with very crucial issues of cholera.

“But I can reveal to you that the Commonwealth has spoken to me and the position is that Prof Gambari will be returning very soon to commence the processes with a composition of what he is calling the national peace council, said Mr Chanda

    • Wait bane that’s how the revolution started in Zimbabwe and South Africa. Mugabe and Zuma thought they were untouchable where are they now? PF may have the numbers in parliament but only few are eating from ibala and the rest are back benchers. Back benchers will support the opposition in order to save PF

    • Koswe Amos Chanda will simply be astounded and shocked when edgar Koswe lungu is defeated in this motion with help from PF MPs.

    • The tiny house of cards that lungu has built around him and inhabited by vicious vermin like Amos, kaiser and other disagreeable louts will collapse with a massive fall that will simply leave them in amazed disbelief. That’s how houses built on sand fall.

    • OPPOSITION IN ZAMBIA IS A BUNCH OF BLUNKHEADS. THIS IS THE REASON THEY DON’T AND MAY NEVER WIN ELECTIONS IN YEARS TO COME. THEY SIMPLY DON’T THINK AND I WO’NT BE COMPELLED TO WRITE MORE ABOUT THESE THICKHEADDS.

    • Honestly, I have never ever heard a presidential spokesperson, who takes things personally like this guy.
Imagine, ati “… But I can reveal to you that the Commonwealth has spoken to me and the position is that Prof Gambari will be returning very soon to commence the processes….”. He is clearly telling Zambians, he is the one making those decisions and not the President. Can you see that?
Not even Trump`s Spokesperson or Theresa May can be so rude. In each statement, they always say, the president position is this and that.. They relate the President`s message. But this i.d.iot is showing how powerful he is, telling us he is the one behind those decisions. He is definitely more than Bo Inonge. I am interested in ECL decision and not his.

    • “He said those who want to exercise their democratic right as political ‘kadancers’ are free but quite clearly the defeat of such a motion was assured.”
THIS IS A SURE SIGN THAT OPPOSITION IN ZAMBIA ARE TIME WASTERS AND GOOD FOR NOTHING BUNCH OF RETARDS. I CAN’T BELIEVE OF ALL THINGS THIS IS WHAT THEY CHOSE AS IMPORTANT AND URGENT.
“…Zambia will not go to the ends of the earth trying to secure an IMF deal.”
SOMETIMES IT’S A BLESSING WHEN A SHYLOCK DENIES YOU A LOAN.

    • The sole reason which is truth according to Sunday “it will be defeated because the Patriotic Front (PF) has more Members of parliament.” Explains a lot about the kind of representatives Zambia has in parliament for they lack intelligence to see or debate in depth the merits or otherwise of such a move which is too complex to comprehend! Therefore just flock together! Zambians need a stimulant coming out of their elected representatives and its good effort to tread untrodden paths!

  1. Very bad thought Mr chanda stop taking people for granted. You’ll never know what each individual thinks. Careful with what you say. You people you causing more harm to our party than good. What ever you say is damaging my party. Whats wrong with you. Are you so much excited that you forgetting to chose words.

  2. Mr Chanda said “kadancer’ political parties” will be wasting their time by taking an impeachment motion to Parliament because its failure is “as certain as the sun rising tomorrow”

Seriously who pays Amos Chanda? PF or GRZ….you are a civil servant not a PF media chief…when are these fooools going to learn??

  3. The problem with PF’s many spokespersons is that they fail to draw a line between party matters and government matters and position. Mr Amos Chanda, special assistant to the president for press bla bla bla, is a civil servant who clearly doesn’t draw a line between party and its government (Pig). When you critically hear him speak, he is both PF and government spokesperson, rendering the minister of information irrelevant as chief government spokesperson, same goes for PF secretary general and indeed PF Media spindoctor Sunday Chanda.

    • I find it very difficult to know who is a government spokedperson because smose chands is all over.Mwebantu efyo cabs.CK knows what is in the constitution about being forcefully kicked out of the party. That Musukwa is happy becase his brother is now cabinet minister.

    • Don’t these boys watch White House Press Officers on CNN, do they think those Ladies and Gentlemen waste time talking about Democrats!!

  4. This cadre, is he another government spokesperson? I thought he is merely one of the PF cadres but he is talking about government policies that he does not understand. Was he acting Dora Siliya? Sondo Chanda can pontificate but no amount of cover up for your thieving conduct would change the perception. IMF cannot and will never fund PF lest you share all the money to implement Uubomba mwibala policy. IMF knows impupu ni mpupu no matter how humble someone pretends to be.

  5. I find it very difficult to know who is a government spokedperson because smose chands is all over.Mwebantu efyo cabs.CK knows what is in the constitution about being forcefully kicked out of the party. That Musukwa is happy becase his brother is now cabinet minister.

  6. In fact before that motion proposed by UPND, which of course does not mean anything, is put on the floor, the motion to limit a candidate appearing on the Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers after having lost previous elections for three or more times either on that party, or any other party registered in Zambia, will be tabled and passed first.
Thereafter we can then entertain other things. How about that ba ngombe imwe mu UPND? Hazalila Hagain winangu, watch this space.

  7. If ECL is impeached ? do we go for an election to choose a president and parliament is dissolved? just asking not sure what our new constitution says!

  8. “Kuba na mayele”- Ukwiba na mano- Steal Cleverly – was late Mobutu Seseko’s advice to his Ministers and Citizens of DR Congo.
President Chiluba, ( Ba Kiluba),who hailed from DRC, took his mentor’s advice to the letter. During Chiluba’s Kaboke Dynasty in Zambia, together with his “uncle”, now late Benjamin Ilunga Yotam Mwila, another Congolese, and other Congolese in government, who disguised as Zambians, turned Public Funds as personal money. With impunity, Chiluba and his compatriots corruptly looted Public Funds.Chiluba was even swindled of Public Funds, by a Congolese Conman, with whom he had entered into a private deal to purchase and deliver to Zambia, Military Hardware. Hitherto, the Military Hardware has not arrived in Zambia.
President Mwanawasa wanted to bring to book…

  9. Upndeez, spare us your hallucinations we have serious business to attend to. How can we replace our democratically elected President with a dictator, and on the basis of one tribe?

    • @ kubweka
Imwe ba UPND you ain’t defined by anything except your tribe. In politics copying doesn’t work and sadly that what your number 1 kachema is good at.
President Lungu’s ball hut trade mark made him known and immediately kachema copied, it was a disaster. When Obama coined the “Yes we can” kachema copied and started haluscinating that he was “Obama of Africa”, this backfired and now you want to copy Ramaphosa, just how?

  10. Since 2015 ,IMF has been throwing out PF requests for a financial bailout. What makes you thing the EU can give you any money

  11. Gugu at the rate Lungu is stealing and selling everything, we can’t wait until 2021. There will be nothing left by then and he would have stolen the seed too.

  12. Another “feel good” bootlicker detached from the feelings of the people in the country. The slide has happened and people of this country have no faith in the thieving corrupt government of Edgar Lungu. These clowns could be in for a rude awakening. Its a public secret that they are a divided house and its long before the fissures begin to show through. You will be made to eat humble pie Mr. Chanda. You represent an irresponsible “kleptomanic” regime that is lying to itself that it is still popular.

  13. Malinso, let me correct your tribal and party thinking. First of all, I am not Tonga but Swaka by tribe, secondly it does not mean that everyone that opposes your and your party s way of thinking and reckoning is UPND there are other partyies too if you are not aware and some of us are not supporting a certain party but are Zambians that do not see sense in some of your blogs. Nebo ndimwina Zambia eli chino chalo chalo chesu bonse wa umfwa.

  14. Am Just Wait 4the Positive Results. Here Where Am The Tomatoes Is Costly Bcoz Of His Failure Ruling,,,, We Still Need Our Nation 2b In Good Economy,,, Guys Lets Wake Up, Let The Fools Continue Appreciate The Bad Works!!!
