Ruling PF Bahati Member of Parliament Harry Kalaba has described the forth coming 2021 general elections as a game changer for the Zambian scene.

And Mr. Kalaba has disclosed that the newly formed Democratic Party (DP) has formally written to him asking if he can contest on its ticket as presidential candidate in 2021.

In an exclusive interview with Feel Free in Chipata, Mr. Kalaba has indicated that he has formally received an invitation letter from the DP, stating that he currently studying their request, saying it would an honour to serve the DP.

And Mr. Kalaba has said that he will not be distracted by people who are talking about him after resigning as minister, saying his focus is to serve the people of Bahati.

Meanwhile, Mr Kalaba held talks with Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people at his palace.

  10. I feel sad when I see people like Kalaba resign and decide to form a party on his own. Kalaba is a man of integrity and can make a good President, unfortunately, Zambian politics does not work like that. Zambian politics favours the likes of Kamwili, Michael Sata and Frederick Chiluba who understand the language of the street. It is for this same reason HH has struggled to gain national support.

  19. Why not join existing parties. Why can’t we have it like in USA or UK. If you are not PF then be UPND simple. So that if PF fails we put UPND and vise versa. If Mr Kalaba no longer agrees with PF way of doing things there’s already a party that holds his view and that’s UPND. Why not join them and strengthen opposition. You can’t agree with ECL, You don’t think HH is good enough to lead you, you don’t trust The Consultant, you don’t agree with the Socialist parties,who will you trust? All these people including the Kambwilis, Mmembes and the like should call for an opposition parties indaba and join UPND on condition that they call for a national convention to a presidential candidate for 2021.Not everyone who feels presidential forms a party.

Harry Kalaba as foreign minister did not even know how the world is controlled by Chatham House and the Council on Foreign Relations, think tanks that were established in the 1920s and formed the League of Nations and when that failed, the UN which later wrote the rules of international diplomacy and created the World Bank and the IMF and wrote their charters. They decide who heads these organs. That is how the world is controlled. The trade rules are set by the big powers and a small country has no business talking about economic diplomacy. That is being uppity.

  42. Politicians overrate themselves too much because of the likes and calibre of the current president. Every Member of Parliament hallucinates that they are famous and can simply be president. It is very strange but good for democracy. How I wish Kalaba can simply man up and resign from the parliament and recontest the seat on a different party. That way he would know where his chance of running for the presidency lay. All the best though!

    Kalaba was the consummate Senior Civil Servant, and a patient in-Party game to get to the 1st position would have taken 2 lifetimes. Unfortunately it takes a while to establish a political presence enough to win a Presidential election. Better start at the next election than!
