Today’s Message: Increase Your Capacity to Receive

Share

Today’s Scripture

“Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back…”
(Isaiah 54:2, NIV)

Increase Your Capacity to Receive

God has many blessings in store for you! He has favor in your future like you’ve never imagined. He wants to take you places that you’ve never even dreamed. But in order for us to partake of all these blessings, we have to increase our capacity to receive.

Think about this: if you have a one-gallon bucket and someone has fifty gallons to give you, the problem is not with the supply. The problem is that you don’t have the capacity to receive the fifty gallons. But if you get rid of that small container and get something larger, then you will be able to receive more. It’s the same way with God. If we think we’ve reached our limits, the problem isn’t that God doesn’t have the resources or the ability. The problem is that our container is too small. We have to enlarge our vision and make room for the new things God has for us. Our attitude should be, “Yes, the economy is down, but I know God is still on the throne. I know wherever I go His goodness and mercy follow me.” When you have that kind of attitude, you’re increasing your capacity to receive so that you can live the abundant life He has in store for you.

A Prayer for Today

“Father, today I choose to believe and increase my capacity to receive from You. I release limited thinking and old mindsets and choose to meditate on Your word. I open myself to everything You have in store for me in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

    • The longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize…something is F–KED UP. Something is WRONG here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is NOT good work. If this is the best god can do, I am NOT impressed. Results like these do not belong on the resume of a supreme being. This is the kind of shiiit you ‘d expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently run universe, this guy would have been out on his all-powerful-a s s a long time ago. [George Carlin, from “You Are All Diseased”.]

    • @Joy, a lot of anger can be detected in your post. Let people express their opinions. If you have advice for them, then let it sound like advice. the Anger shows that you have some deep-seated issues. May the Lord deliver you

  1. for those of you that look to the Bible for it’s literary qualities and moral lessons; I got a couple other stories I might like to recommend for you. You might enjoy The Three Little Pigs. That’s a good one. It has a nice happy ending. Then there’s Little Red Riding Hood. Although it does have that one x-rated part where the Big-Bad-Wolf actually eats the grandmother.

  2. “Religion has actually convinced people that there’s an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever ’til the end of time!

But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He’s all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can’t handle money!”

  3. The reason most of us remain poverty striven is the belief that God will help us ,how being humble meanwhile busy plundering the resourses ati humble ,woke up open your eyes developed countries did not sit back ati prayer but they worked hard hence they are developed ,poverty high levels of ilitrate society are taken advantage of by those in authority .praying coupled with hard work .we will remain poor to the core .poverty is a curse .

  4. Christianity is part of the Middle Eastern trinity: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. These three emerged from the same social environment and have a lot in common because of that. The first two share the same holy book the Bible, albeit only the Old Testament. Islam has its own, the Koran. The commonalities include stoning adulterers to death (remember the story of Jesus telling those who were trying to stone a prostitute and what he did to stop them), abstaining from eating pork (at least in the OT), names such as Joseph or Yusuf, Fatima and you can go on and on. The Koran recognises Jesus and his mother Mary because Islam is younger than Christianity. But all three religions are products of a backward, superstitious society.

    • @Chanchima, this is a very good theory. Please take it to one of these universities that are mushrooming in Cairo road in Lusaka and they will either give you PhD or Professorship. so the next time we communicate, I will be addressing you are Dr Chanchima or Prof. Chanchima

  5. Joy: Is God a man or male? If God is a man, doesn’t that suppose a female God somewhere to contrast God’s gender with? Look here, it doesn’t make sense to talk about males if their opposites do not exist. There would just be some being such as the moon, the sun, etc that exist as the only ones of their kind. I am a student of religion though I have no religion.
