Sven Vandenbroek will be officially unveiled as Chipolopolo coach on Monday.

This is Vandenbroek’s first head coaching job after working as ex-Cameroon coach Hugo Broos’ assistant under whom they won the 2017 AFCON title.

He also had short club stint in Tunisia as deputy coach at Club African in 2013.

“The Football Association of Zambia is pleased to announce the appointment of Sven Vandenbroek as new Coach of the Zambia National Football Team. Vandenbroek will be unveiled to the media on Tuesday 10th July 2018 after his formal presentation to the Minster of Sports on Monday,” FAZ said in a statement.

“Following his presentation to the media, Vandenbroek will immediately get down to work and meet all 20 Super Division coaches from whom he should get insight on the state of the league and commence his players’ selection.

“The whole week, he will attend training sessions of various Super Division clubs and watch league games as well as the Zambia Under-20 qualifier against Burundi (on July 14 in Lusaka).”

Vandenbroek takes over from Wedson Nyirenda who quit in May to take up the head coaching job at South African PSL side Baroka FC.

His first official fixture will be this September when Zambia visit Namibia on match -day-two of the 2019 AFCON Group Qualifiers.

Zambia and Namibia both have zero points following similar 1-0 home and away Group defeats against Mozambique and Guinea Bissau respectively in June, 2017.

  1. ” ONLY A TONGA MUST LEAD UPND” says Sejani. TONGAS are not natural footballers but cattle shepherds only.

  2. What’s this appointment got to do with HH? This obsession with HH is frightening and I am sure unhealthy. Please seek help.

  3. “UPND is for Tongas!” What that guy never knew was that you need MOST Zambians regardless of ethnicity to win the presidency! He will NEVER be president! Childish!

  4. @saimbwende..! Tongas are not only proud cattle owners but very hard working and self reliant people unlike you lazy thieves.

    • No pungwa they are not hard workers. everyone is a hard worker because they fend for themselves. but with tongas what you perceive to be hard working is not. Mungulu fye walichilamo. dressing and colour mixing awe nicokako weka- (yellow shirt, blue trouser and white shoes and pink jacket bamba ni 007), walking, eating everything is just mungulu mungulu. No wander they are being abused by their own for peanuts.

  5. This SEVEN guy is UGLY , hr is handsome. That aside i think we need to know the TARGETS FAZ has set for him, so if he fails he goes back to SWEDEN

  6. From Sven to HH, how come? Why are you making someone so popular? Is it fear of the unknown future? Waa expecting alot after analysing Sven’s small achievement. Then we comfort ourselves that, thats how it was with Rerve….and lifted Africa cup. One target I heard is qualifying to Africa cup 2019. Surely, if you see Zambia’s position with no points in 2 matches, are you just broke not pay someone beyond 2019? Definitely Zambia might not qualify. It is already messed up. The team that was constructed like UPND (Tongas only), now that time around for them it was More Easterners, led to total failure. This should be a warning to groupings for any competition, including formation of governments.. Watch and see realities come true!

  7. Can we get more information on the new coach? It seems we settled for a low cost option. If we set no objectives and targets we are going nowhere. Our next assignment is an afcon qualifier and we have this unknown coach who will be checking out 20 league coaches and an under 20 game to map our a plan for Chipolopolo? We have a solid team just need a superman coach I’m not sure about this ka dude.

  8. Let’s stick to the subject matter at hand. All people are ethnocentric. The new coach must be given a chance to prove himself. He needs everyone’s support. Raid poulsen, the Dane never , even had experience of African soccer but did fairly well.
