Sven Vandenbroek has given his early impression of the local league.
The new Chipolopolo coach graced the big Kitwe derby at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe between hosts Power Dynamos and Nkana that ended 2-2. .

“I think the intensity of the games and physicality was at the high level,” Vandenbroek said.
“But technically I think they can always increase their skills but that is for something for club coaches to improve in practice sessions or in a match situation.”
Vandenbroek has been handed an open-ended contract over five 2019 AFCON Group K qualifying matches that end in March 2019.

Mr. Van der Broeck, please take my advice. You’ll only succeed if you work on the following weaknesses of the Zambian National Team:
1. Very Low Fitness levels – your predecessor Herve Renard did very well in this regard, in fact that’s the fittest team Zambia has ever had
2. Very Poor Ball Control and Terrible Passes. Poor ball control makes it easy for their opponents to easily dispossess them of the ball. They also cant keep play a proper passing game of up to 8 passes before losing the ball
3. Conceding careless free-kicks around the penalty box – lack of confidence and composure is the problem
4. Failure to Convert or Defend Corner Kicks – While they themselves cant score from Corner kicks, they also cant defend them well and easily concede goals from them.

5. VERY POOR/ LOW MENTAL STRENGTH – Our boys always concede goals either at the START OF EITHER HALF or SOON AFTER THEY THEMSELVES HAVE SCORED. This problem might need the involvement of a proper sports psychologist.
Work on the mentership , bring back all foreign players who are performing extremely well abroad and also use your experience to position players in right positions.
