UPND Kanyama Constituency Ward 10 Councilor Brighton Bilumba has defected to the ruling PF at a public rally in Chawama Constituency.
Mr Bilumba has accused UPND of not being a party for grossroot people.
He said the UPND does not know grassroot politics and that the people should not be lied to that the UPND is the party of the people.
“I was the only UPND elected councillor in Lusaka District and from the day I was elected I have never received a call from the party leadership either the President or his vice asking how am working, but I receive calls from the vice Republican President asking me how am working,” he said.
“For this today I have decided to join the PF, use me am here to work.”
He was welcomed by PF and Republican President Edgar Lungu during a rally held in Chawama to drum up support for Miles Sampa ahead of the Lusaka Mayoral elections.

How come the UPND councillors in the other provinces aren’t resigning? Do they receive encouraging calls from their leaders? doubt it. This councillor needed support because he was all alone.
