Patriotic Front candidate Miles Sampa is the new Mayor of the city of Lusaka.
Mr Sampa is so far heading for a landslide victory from the official ECZ results announced.
He has polled 27, 094 from the three out of seven constituencies announced, followed by UPND’s Kangwa Chileshe who got 14, 191.
Singer Petersen Mukubesa Mundia of the People’s Alliance for Change is third while Saboi Imboela has managed 2, 926 votes across all constituencies.
The ECZ is yet to release official results for Mandevu, Kanyama, Munali and Matero constituencies.
But unofficial results still put the PF in a clear lead and a landslide pattern forming.
Voter apathy is a protest for those not interested.
Here is free advice for UPND; Change your president, pick better candidates and find a personality coach so you can click with voters!

Prior to coming into government PF used to win all urban by elections regardless of the region. This is a signal for a party which is about to form govt. The writing was on the wall from day one. Chileshe Kangwa was dead on arrival. The writing is getting clearer for HH too. Presidency in Zambia is a build up of local and parliamentary victories. Unless thiongs drastically change in UPND, there shall be no miracle in 2021.

What’s is there to celebrate about? Majority of voters stayed away as they see these by elections a waste of time. Vote rigging starts by denying the opposition the right to hold campaign rallies and meetings, denying them fair coverage by state owned media platforms and subjecting them to political violence.Kambwili was denied the right to hold a rally in Chifunabuli despite being in possession of a police permit. Such things trigger violence. I stayed away from voting yesterday just for these reasons. Let the PF continue rigging and ‘winning’.But as the Bembas say “inshiku mutanda tashichela mumo”

Zambia is slowly tilting towards one party state.Multipartism is just on paper.There are factors that are leading to this.One of the them is fragmented opposition parties that have divided their voice.They do not offer credible voice to ruling party.The other thing is voter apathy.Most voters are tired of seeing the same people on the ballot paper.As a result,they have grown weary of voting.
The most critical one is ignorance and poverty.Most voters are ignorant of importance their vote has in changing their destiny.They would rather vote for a riff-ruff than voting for people who can add value in political arena.The other thing,is selfishness of the opposition.The candidates that they propel for leadership are those who are appealing to the voters.
Dear Miles, please do not over rejoice because you have been employed now as the actual work has not started. The vote you were given is not indeed a free one but one that you must work for. Remember the promises the PF made to the electorates and please do not let them down. We expect a better council and DO NOT ALLOW LATE COMING AND SOCIALIZING WHILE AT WORK like it happens when you visit the Zambia Revenue Authority offices. There time is shared between socializing and business especially by the females. Kachaka would have sang “it is true”.

Politics as they are known in Zambia: Politics of recycling. Once a deputy minister in government, he has decided to join politics of recycling at a very early stage. He is now the new mayor for the sleeping town of Lusaka. Politics of poverty, and not of principles, have really taken root in Zambia. How the mighty have fallen and risen through sebana wikute! All is well because of constitutional rights.
There is an issue with the opposition, agreed, but this is more to do with what it says about voters. Voting into the mayor-ship an opportunistic political pendulum like Miles Sampa. Objective people will have a sense that the climate in Zambia is that of striving by any means to get into a ‘lucrative’ position and all the privileges (honest and dishonest) that it provides. As long as the type of political and governance landscape remains the same, nothing will change in Lusaka.

Guy Scott actually underestimated the greed of the Zambian politician. I would celebrate that cautiously. In effect he predicted our current dilemma. We lead in poverty, corruption and a lack of accountability. What good does it do us that you won all those political jostling and sent our nation backwards in the process?
