Teaching industry is no longer open to whoever wants to enter it

The Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ) says the Teaching industry is no longer open to whoever wants to enter it.

TCZ Assistant Director Inspection Unity Joel Kamoto says the profession will be only for candidates who are able to produce credentials that have been proven by the council.

Speaking when he recently addressed grandaunts at Mansa College of Education, Mr. Kamoto indicated those seeking employment in the education sector will now need to be correctly qualified and registered with the Teaching Council of Zambia.

“These measures are aimed at protecting innocent children and parents who often times find themselves taking their children to colleges and schools which do not meet the set standards,“ he said.

Mr. Kamoto says the council does not want any more individuals to masquerade or pose as qualified rather than those that are actually qualified and have been certified by the council.

He further says doing so is important as it will ensure that the teaching professional claims its right status through having men and women and institutions who among others things are able to uphold the core value of education.

  1. Nowonder the teaching profession has become valueless in recent years, but i don’t blame them looking at the economic of this country, people got to do what they can to survive.

  2. of course. like most public professions now, teaching is only open to PF members and their relatives and concubines. Zambia yasila. When we tell you vote UPND we are not trying to trick you into anything. we warned you. This is nw time to reflect before the elections.Ask yourself, what have you gained since PF took over?

  3. The government should also look at the influx of Indians and Chinese who come here to work instead of staying in Asia. If India can’t give its citizens jobs, why should Zambia be an open option for them allowing them to come and work here at will? Why is the Zambian government creating jobs for Indians? You see, a lot of money is going out of the country through bogus so called expatriates who come here and get paid a lot of money which then goes to mostly India. We Zambians should be vigilant and start chasing Indians out of our country. It’s wrong for them to make Zambia their next country of employment when a Zambian can’t get a job in their dirty stinking country.

  4. Education is the key to long term development in Zambia, so teachers should be respected accordingly. Tighter standards for teaching will lead to better standards of education up to a point, but we must remember that teaching is to some degree a skill some people are naturally better at than others, irrespective of their academic grades. Zambia must look after its teachers, and allow the good ones to thrive.
