Kaindu salutes Power after ending winless run against Mighty

Power Dynamos coach Kelvin Kaindu has praised his team for ending their 12-year winless drought against Mighty Mufulira Wanderers.

Mighty came into the match armed with three wins and as many draws against Power dating back to 2005.

Power beat Wanderers 5-4 on post-match penalties to collect their first competitive win over their life-long nemesis in the 2018 Barclays Cup quarterfinals played on September 30 at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.

John Goma put Mighty ahead in the 49th minute but Alex Ngonga ensured the match went to penalties with the equalizer in the 84th minute before the Power captain and striker also converted one spot kick en route to the semifinals.

“Mighty has given us problems for the past six years or so. We showed character coming from a goal down to win but a bit worried about our defending but I am happy we have broken the kick,” said Kaindu.

Power will face Nkana in the semifinals on October 20 while in the other last four match; Green Buffaloes will face Young Buffaloes.

Green Buffaloes booked their last four places following a 1-0 win over Green Eagles thanks to an 80th minute goal from Jack Chirwa.
