Kapumbu returns to Chipolopolo fold

Share

Zesco United defender Fackson Kapumbu has received his first call-up under new Chipolopolo coach Sven Vandenbroeck for this month’s 2019 AFCON Group K doubleheader qualifier against Guinea Bissau.

Kapumbu was snubbed for the September 8 Group K qualifier date against Namibia and September 1 1 friendly away to Gabon on the new bosses’ first assignment.

The Zesco left-back takes the place of Emmanuel Mbola of Hapoel Ra’anana in Israel who has been axed after he was earlier banished from the team camp in Johannesburg prior to the away date against Namibia.

It is Kapumbu’s first time back to the Chipolopolo fold since the 2018 CHAN tournament in Morocco.

Also dropped are SuperSport United striker Gampani Lungu, Power Dynamos goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga and Green Eagles midfielder Spencer Sautu.

Goalkeeper Charles Muntanga of Nkwazi is the second of only two faces whom Vandenbroeck has summoned.

Zambia are third in Group K on 1 point, tied with Namibia while Guinea Bissau and Mozambique have 4 points after two rounds of games played.

Chipolopolo will hosts Guinea Bissau on October 10 at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka before travelling to Bissau on October 14.

  1. Play Jackson Chirwa ku 3.
Anyway, Kapumbu is a mature player.
Zambia has been searching too long for:
    Goalkeeper
    Left back
    Central defender and a
    Mbesuma kind of striker.
    That’s 4 talents missing.

  2. The team looks solid. We can deliever. I would leave out Sunzu, Nathan and Kalaba. Put together they make silly mistakes that cost games and are not an efficient machine. We should try new players.

  3. It is Kapumbu’s first time back to the Chipolopolo fold since the 2018 CHAN tournament in Morocco.
    First time back????? Nifinshi ifyo?

  4. the team looks good…. but this time the coach should start lubambo…musonda….. fasion pa bench……… he should come on as a super sub….
