Zambia U20 coach Charles Bwale says the hosts will not underrate their Group A opponents at the 2018 COSAFA U20 Cup that will be held on the Copperbelt this December.

Kitwe and Mufulira are the host venues for the 2018 COSAFA U20 Cup that will run from December 2-14.

Zambia are in Group B together with Malawi, Mozambique and newcomers Reunion.

“I can describe it as a tricky draw looking at the composition of the group. Looking at Reunion, we have no information but looking at Malawi and Mozambique these are our perennial opponents be it at Under-17, Under-20 and senior level,” Bwale said.

Zambia will face Reunion in their opening Group A match on December 2 before playing Malawi on December 5 and Mozambique on December 8.

All three games will be played at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

The other group fixtures have seen defending champions South Africa drawn against Namibia, Mauritius and eSwatini in Group B and they will also play their matches at Nkana.

Group C is led by 2017 runners-up Lesotho, six-time champions Zimbabwe, Angola and Botswana.

Group A winner will face top finisher from Group C while winner in Group B will face the best second placed side in the semifinals on December 11 at Nkana.

The third and fourth playoff including the final will be played on December 14 at Nkana.

  1. Don’t experiment this time around and be over confident like you did last year. You brought in the under 17 side and got embarrassed. Select all the deserving players with the right ages and time to start is now. We want to see a steady build up from the under 17, under 20 then up the under 23. We want to see a situation like the team that competed at the South Korea under 20 world cup. We have seen players graduating and creating an impact even in the senior National team. The likes of Enock Mwepu, Patson Daka. Fashon Sakala. to mention just a few. Charles Bwale do the best this time around.
