Dr. Lubinda Haabazoka

Economics Association of Zambia President Dr Lubinda Haabazoka has called on those involved who were involved in the privatization of mine assets should apologize.

Dr Haabazoka observed that the privatization of Zambia’s mines was done exploitatively.

Writing on his Facebook page, Dr Haabazoka who was attempted to make a veiled attack on opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema who worked as a Consultant to the Zambia Privatization Agency said the sale of mine assets was unpatriotic.

The EAZ President claimed that those that helped sell the mines are swimming in money leaving others to solve the problems they created.

“Each and every individual regardless of the role they played in Privatization of Zambia’s mines should apologize to the nation immediately,” Dr Haabazoka said.

“Privatization of Zambia’s mines at very exploitative terms is the highest level of unpatriotism,” he charged.

“20 years after the damage, some are swimming in money when others are solving problems created!!! 21000 job looses???”

    • This is the most biased statement from the EAZ President yet. LT your grammar in paragraph 1 please read through before posting.

    • Haabazoka came back with a Russian wife after his studies there.

He has struggled to maintain her due to lecturers not being paid for months.
That has led to him trying to impress PF for a job at BOZ.

    • We will never forgive (HH) for stealing money from Copperbelt mines which he sold for a song. $26 million for a mine?
Then he pockets $7 million for himself and deposits in Panama, away from our tax system. Selfish Under 5.

    • In simpler terms he is saying all Zambians who bought council, government pool houses and mine houses during privatisation should return them to the state.

    • This cadre Haabazoka is now trying so hard to be EL’S running mate.

No single person sold the mines. IMF and World Bank planned privatization MMD implemented it. No one person was a key player in privatization of mines……

    • Government spent humongous amounts of money to send him to Russia and study, the only thing he came back with is a Caucasian wife. Amano yonse yaile mwitoloshi .

    • @Jembe (HH) Hanglo Hamerican was the key player.
He evaluated the mines as worthless assets and pocketed commission from the bidders whom he promised a cheap price. He took $7 million to a bank account in Panama.

    • Iwe economist waku Russia sit down
Lumwana, kalumbila came after privatization why did you rush looking for investors why didn’t you run them yourselves if you are truly an economist worth your salt advise govt on how to revamp zampost zafico without floating shares on the stock exchange

    • Please Lazy Lungu give this fat boy a job like dull boy Sampa did…the boy will dance and sing for PF if it means throwing professional ethics out of the window just to stop his Russian trophy wife not leave his fat a$$…this boy is only 38 yet he looks 58

    • African Gay parrot who only sees the world through UPND eyes. Has Kainde promised you a diplomatic job to represent Zambia in the UK?
You need to finish your night school you dont qualify to blog here.

    • The past is past. We need to look at the present and the future. Privatization did not just happen because it had to happen. There were conditions set by IMF but the MMD govt. should have refused to sell the mines at all cost. CODECO an equivalent of the then ZCCM is still in existence today because of the Chilean govt. refused to sell the mines.
We, unfortunately, sold the mines and now we have to live with that. The Blame and name game won’t solve our economic woes. We need to diversify from the mineral run economy to an agricultural one.

    • Bonehead – I was brought up to have integrity and live by professional ethos (something you can never understand) if you want something work hard for it. Who is Hakainde to me, what would I be doing in an Embassy? You are short sighted, silly ill mannered boy who can’t envision anything beyond a job in govt…I mean where would I start from with you; I dont qualify to blog here …really laughable …says the boy who would do anything to be recognized even hack into LT.
Like I have stated you started blogging yesterday…just go and debate with the silly boy who logs on in the afternoon and talk about your Hakiande and your UPND.

    • @Mr Kudos. So it would have been okey with you if a muzungu was engaged to valuate the mines and take the money to the US or UK?

HH offered a service to GRZ and was paid for it BY GRZ, nothing wrong with that. He didn’t pay himself. Evaluating a property is not the same as selling it, if I engaged to to valuate my house and told me what it is worthy, it is up to me to sell it or not…. MMD sold the mines at low prices and not HH. Blame the people who engaged him and paid him what he wanted.

    • That is the problem with following blindly. Most upnd cadres on this forum sees what Haabazoka is saying as not been patriotic to upnd because he’s tonda. This guy is level headed l like he’s not like that south African tonga lecturer who uses the university property to condemn pf or that Larry mwitwa whatever his name is in London. This Haabazoka is patriotic to Zambia. HH is swimming in money after selling the mines and you upnd don’t see anything wrong with it. Welcome to Zambia Haabazoka we need tongas like you who can think independently outside the box of been a Tonga. You’re welcome to join pf or upnd but don’t let tribal thinking influence you. Shame on you.

    • @1 Patala
You worship HH…..in your eyes HH is a small god…Just seeing a Tonga criticizing HH makes you feel like committing suicide….whats wrong with the man’s beard…..he is more professional than you useless keyboard warrior

    • COUNTRY MEN WHO CAN CALL A SPADE A SPADE. I AM GLAD WE HAVE OUR OWN SEEING THROUGH THE LIGHT. I CAN LUBINDA DESCRIBE LUBINDA AS A PATRIOT. FROM NOW ON CAN GOVERNMENT ENGAGE ECONOMISTS AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS IN THE NATION WHEN IMPORTANT DECISIONS – PRIVATIZATION- ARE BEING MADE ON BEHALF OF EVERY CITIZEN.
I have listened to Lubinda severally. Judging from his concerns, I can tell you that he is a true patriot.

    • These PF id1ots have very small brains. How do they always forget that the founder of PF himself the late Sata was heavily involved in privatisation of the mines and that’s how he made money to start the stupid PF party.

The late Sata, the late Chilba and Chitalu were government workers who stole privatisation money.

To the contrary HH was engaged by his employer Grant Thornton to value the run down UNIP state assets but NOT the mines. If any thing it’s Grant Thornton to blame not HH.

But alas PF minions are afraid to confront Grant Thornton is it not so.

Check facts before you spew rubbish here.

PF has failed and Lungu should go end off.

    • That is true. They were duped that copper had been exhausted and instead of listening to Zambian mining engineers they chose to listen to their brainwashed selves because a person who looks different from them, whatever he says is right. That is the tragedy of UPND even today and its supporters. Let’s emulate Botswana and Nigeria on this one. You cannot give everything away and take money to PANAMA for your benefit out of national coffers.

    • The man has said the truth. All those who stole through privatization must first give back our money then apologize to us for stealing recklessly.

    • Only if this economist could learn to be honest and stop being personal. At the time government was lossing a lot of money in maintaining the unprofitable mines. What was the price of cooper the time compared to now and where was he when other were looking for solutions. He should be reminded that it’s not the mines that went cheaply, properties were also sold cheaply especially council house. If you didn’t pick a bargain then hard luck, there is always next time.

    • This fat boy has written a lot of good papers under the CBU name but disappointingly he has crossed that grey line and thrown his professionalism out of the window, CBU money was not enough so he has resorted bootlicking to get the likes of dull Lazy Lungu, Kz, Freedom Sikazwe, Sunday “wannabe Pulitzer journalist” Chanda brother to Macpherson the thief, Maggie, young boy Munir to notice him…..this is what happens when they marry their musungus they have work like slaves/zombies especially now that the Russian wife is being exposed to better looking young black men who look 38 not 60. They can even steal like Galu to maintain a fictitious Hollywood lifestyle…so their wife doesn’t say she wants to go home be what she was a “Finance” Manager in Russia…and say I was doing well.

    • BaLazo – That’s not the point – the point is that those of our own people who participated in the privatization short-changed the country and in the process the thieves rewarded them handsomely. And now they put that dishonesty behind their backs and want to parade themselves as our saviours – noooo!!!! If they were not seeking to lead us probably we were not going to talk about them much.

    • Lazy bum illiterate tribal TONGA Larry Mweetwa hooligan bully son of a tribal polygamist fatehr who never taught him toilet training pooping in diapers in public HAGAIN needing cynical tattoo-clad MUTINTA MENTAL, BoSpakata and UNDER FIVE MENTAL to change his diapers HAGAIN. He is not aware that he is UNELECTABLE because he has no clue on how to win people.

    • Refusing to apologize like kay figo.

      Ati. Apologize for what hehehehe

In the USA they dig your history from high school. did you take dope. Were you a cheat. Did you respect girls. Were you racist.

      Hehehehe am enjoying this

    • janet – The apology will not bring food on the table – and that is not the purpose. We will know them properly and decide based on their apologies whether we can entrust them with responsibility of running our country.

  1. this guy has now become a PF cadre. Such institutions should be above politics and it is sad the leader is playing partisan politics. Anti Dr but is Dr worth the mantle?? Sad. Hunger is making people slaves of political systems even with PhD.

    • He has shown caderism for a long time now. Attacking opposition politicians, with very skewed analysis against the courts of opinion. His analysis is clearly skewed even to a lay man. You must be very switched off not to discern his language

    • But democracy is about respecting other people’s views. If someone agrees with PFs view he should be respected just as someone who agrees with upnds or oppositions view, not so?? Your narrow and dogmatic view of labelling anyone who agrees with PF as a cadre and anyone who agrees with upmd as a national hero is badly flawed and dangerous as its a prelude to dictatorship.

  2. I think the bootlicking of this fellow has reached unprecedented levels. Members of this association should remove this guy

    • Doesn’t change the fact that those who were engaged in the sell of our assets and are still living should apologize. Its a fair call.

  3. Is this what they teach at postgraduate level in Russia? Edgar has already heard you please, just be a little patient about that appointment

    • Habazoka has just observed an economic point. Why are you blaming him? The man is a professional economist. Is it not true that mines were sold at very exploitative prices? Are you doubting his overt intellectual analysis? Mines were sold cheaply to disadvantage poor Zambians.

    • Dear cadre Habazoka, please advise how we come out of this economic mess. Who and how the mines were sold then has very little to help pay my school fees and feed my family.

    • Mabvuto – It will help you because you will not put your country into the same hands of people similar to the ones you are angry at on a daily basis, once you know them.

  4. Dr Chiwelewele has spoken again.
Can you also apologize to the nation for not using your hard earned education and knowledge properly. We expect a lot of positive input from you but we are not getting it at all.All you seem to be doing is make noise and irritate everyone who expects a lot from you…Please apologize to us.

  5. Mr. Haabazoka (sorry, I am uncomfortable addressing you as “Dr.” because the reasoning in most of your writings/speeches suggests that your doctorate credentials may be questionable), please advise government about the cost of borrowing (NOW) and abusing the borrowed funds, instead of focusing on privatization which happened many years ago. And while you are at it, please recognize that your cadre approach to national economic issues is what causes those of us who are “uneducated” to question the value of the education you got.

    • It an offensive tribal comment to say dull tonga

Does a tonga only become intelligent when they support the boss. Thats what we call brainwashed radicalized following

    • This fat boy has no integrity …someone who has worked firstly hard to learn the language Russian then qualified to be awarded a PHD in Economics in Russia would think twice about throwing his professionalism…he is the first one to talk ill about people in diaspora yet he has reduced himself to bootlicking just to maintain his lifestyle…this is a lecturer what is he teaching those young men and women in academia.

    • Doesn’t change the fact that those who were engaged in the sell of our assets and are still living should apologize. Its a fair call.

  6. This nincompoop seems to be lost in history. I don’t know how old he was when MMD took over the country! I guess UNIP had sent him to Russia that he didn’t know what the country and its people were going through. I thought someone with that kind of education should just not utter any rubbish but think through his thoughts. It’s a pity that education has eluded him instead of taking advantage of it. Stupid utterances that don’t merit any comment but looking at his education, one can not just let his silly comment pass by!

  7. He was setting the price and selling to himself and even gave some share from southern sun hotel to a certain chief who drives a limo why his subjects survive on mangoes

    • You ngombe. Were you aware 3 weeks ago when (HH) had a secret meeting at night with President Lungu?
So how can you rush to defend him over his role in the Privatization of mines on the Copperbelt? Does he tell you everything?
Look how the retrenched miners are suffering because of (HH)

    • Skull 5hagging !mbecile, if HH had secret meeting with ECL, it is evident that ECL had secret meeting with HH?

By the way, Sunday F*cking Chanda, do you know who is your father? Or you are still believing in many “uncles”?

    • TRUTH – This is a boy born in Massage Palour …he has no moral compass..he sees the world in Black and White, PF or UPND, Uncles or Fathers…Is he staying tonight or Is he staying for an Hour!!!

    • His actions will and SHOULD haunt him until we put him in his box. We are stalemate with the infestors at our/their mines because of him. He smiles and now wants to take us for a ride.

  8. I think on this one Habazooka is right. Why did we have to privatize the mines? Kaunda managed to run the mines with old equipment and standard 4s as personnel. But with Chiluba with a bit more advanced equipment and degree holders we failed? I don’t understand really? Okay now I understand some people were in a hurry to get rich just like some others today have enriched themselves through road constructions and toll gates

    • We had to privatize the mines then. I cant give details here for lack of space. But do some research. However, we should be more concerned with moving forward now. Taking us back does not help anyone. There is poverty in Nabwalya now, that’s what we must be striving to solve, not extracting apologies

    • 14.1@ Mailesi
We can give you the entire 900 paged book for you try and give a snippet of your explanation. I bet you on your miserable life that we needed not to sell our assets. Who does that? Selling our assets was the most dull decision for to comprehend. They did the arm twisting then which they tried on KK previously. The weaker souls curved in. If you hear EN narrate the fake pressure they were in you can laugh. The infestors had been eyeing Zambia’s mineral deposits for years before. The leverage now is on labour and lay offs.

  9. its sad that the chapter on privatization will not close just coz of the arrogance of pipo from UPND.

mistakes were made to extent that some pipo are living in riches while others futures were destroyed.

    why are pipo against apologizing?

Honestly, that’s the reason many Zambians don’t vote for UPND.

EVEN ON OBVIOUS ISSUES THEY WANT TO BE PARTISAN.
    let Habazooka speak his mind.

The fact that you expect him to be tribal makes you sick.

    • How does an apology get away the said riches. How do we solve the current economic malaise. Will this country ever move forward, people are perpetually entrenched to the past. If there is evidence of wrong doing in the past, please do the needful. Crying, wailing, lamentations, and the rest are as good as garbage now, How do we solve the issues affecting our people. We cant reverse that privatization, it is gone, FORGET, Start living in the present and solve issues

    • How old were you when privatization took place read and understand than jst wanting to sound intelligent on matters u know nothing about.

    • We can’t. Because the problem is still around and very active in our politics. Who does that?
Elements of doom. Who knows maybe he is a beneficiary of the exploitation still going on in the mines. They can’t pay their fair share of taxes. Who does that?

  10. This guy is Very ignorant. The mines were privatised by the govt bcoz they were not doing well. Point at any company run by govt that’s doing well today.none. so what’s this chap talking about.

    • The mines started performing poorly after Chiluba took over power and so did Zambia Airways! How come Kaunda was able to run all those now defunct parastatals for so many years when there were fewer degree holders and a relatively smaller population? Chiluba came with that retrogressive mentality where anything foreign was considered better than our local products! That is what killed our local companies and subsequently our economy

  11. No one has mentioned boss but see how they come out like bees. These people are a danger to national security and must not be given instruments of power

    They are radicalized.

  12. These are the people who are supposed to be advising the government on policy issues and on how to engage stakeholders in the mining sector to avert job loses, alas its political hullaballoo as usual. We have said time and again that this guy was looking for job having failed to sustain himself through lecturing. He is a flippant opportunist devoid of any moral fiber to malign others. The decision to privatize was arrived at based on condition prevailing then. Instead of being diabolical and retrogressive, can you for once come up with realistic solutions to move this country instead of yapping anyhow?

    • Thank you for putting it bluntly. All these unwarranted attacks on HH can not be answered by the former late republican president FTJ Chiluba. So the call for apologies is insincere and Dr Habazooka knows it from the bottom of his heart. Let’s look to move this beloved country forward with less focus on our pockets please. This includes our current leaders as well. Our parents and siblings have had enough. Put them first now before anyone else!

  13. One of the greatest causes of failures identified in africa and other black communities is The Blame Game. I remember one time Zambia blamed its economic woes on the fact that the country helped to liberate other African countries. I see this weakness still very much entrenched in our minds as exhibited by Habaazoka. No wonder development is still eluding us despite amassing so many qualifications. Please let us focus on finding solutions. It very alarming that such statements can be coming from institutions that were meant to be highly professional.Read The Capitalist Nigger. It will help us alot.

  14. Okay, nachita apologise pela. So what? Chi Habazoka chabe. Tili mu Christian nation please. Kuyangana za kusogolo manje. Too much nkhani yamu stone age, privatization, ni lelo?

  15. Can please we focus on solutions for our ailing economy? Blaming, apologizing and finger pointing won’t solve any problems. Haabazoka get serious, you are supposed to be an academician and above all a literate. Is this what being EAZ president has made you become, every time trying to score cheap political points. The people who sold you their votes to be EAZ president are obviously unhappy. Yes, we know you paid people’s memberships in exchange to giving you a vote.
Could you also pay the hosting fees for EAZ website.

  16. DATA EVIDENCE: NOTABLE PEOPLE WHO HANDLED PRIVATIZATION,
Dear Editor. The chief executive of ZPA, Valentine Chitalu, he was also a Director of ZCCM. Mr. Willa Mung’omba, a member of the ZCCM Privatisation Negotiating Team, was also Director of ZCCM
Francis Kaunda, the chairman of the ZCCM negotiating team who was appointed over the heads of the ZPA Members, was also former chairman and chief executive of ZCCM.
Mr Abel Mukandawira was chairman ZPA.
    Mr Luke Mwanashiku
    Mr Edward Shamutete

    • Why have you left out the grandmaster who was setting the price and sold to himself southern sun. Lima bank house near golf club. Zambia airways flats

In china such people go on firing squad

They asked him a question at ndola police station

What roll did you play in privatisation

      ANSWER: NO COMMENT

Do you have shares in southern sun

      ANSWER: no comment

      Do you understand privatisation

    • I also take ZCCM-HI website narrative about its history which states that ZPA approved a privatization plan drawn by N M Rothchilds(Merchant Bank) and Clifford Chance(Legal firm) both from the UK who recommended, inter alia, unbundling of ZCCM assets and the creation of ZCCM-IH to hold Government shares.I also take then Minister of Finance Edith Nawakwi confession that the IMF and World Bank arm-twisted the Zambian Government into into privatizing at an inopportune time(LT,15 May 2015).
However,I wonder why many pundits ignore the the devastating effects of the AIDS pandemic during the period of the privatization drive. This tsunami of death wiped out a generation of our highly educated middle-class,many of whom were in leadership positions at such a critical time of the Structural…

  17. Correct, Doc. We were duped into selling our national assets and some greedy and unpatriotic characters profited from this. PF has got back Zamtel, ZR, relaunching QZ and brought better taxation for the mines better than Levy’s windfall which still had VAT refunds. Keep it up EAZ!!!

  18. Dr Lubinda Habaazako is the only known wise tonga man who does not follow a cro0k HH blindly!!!Zambia is in this mess because of the sale of ZCCM mines. These mines employed millions of Zambians.Jobs for youths were readly available at ZCCM.Copperbelt towns were very busy, football teams sponsored by ZCCM were doing very fine and CHIPOLOPOLO TEAM was strong due to strong ZCCM sponsored teams, etc. But because of FTJ Chiluba,HH and Kainde’s Western friends such as IMF,World bank,Zambia is in the mess today.Kainde made millions from the sale of ZCCM mines. If HH was patrotic,he could have advised FTJ Chiluba’s MMD Govnt not to sell Govnt assets like he advised ECL’s PF Govnt not to sell ZAFFICO,ZESCO,NRDC,etc!!!Many Zambians hate HH because of the role he played in the privatization of Govnt…

  19. ” Dr Lubinda Haabazoka has called on those involved who were involved in the privatization of mine assets should apologize.”

Lusaka Times, please improve on your writing skills. Do you even have a qualified Editor?

  20. What happened to Zambia during privatisation in Economics and Finance is referred to as ‘tunneling of assets’.Tunneling is an illegal business practice in which a majority shareholder or high-level company/Government insider directs company assets or future business to themselves for personal gain.HH as a Consultant together with his former boss at ZPA,Valentine Chitalu and his crew are guilty of this.Criminally, they are lot liable becasue during the privatisation process, there was no law ( Public Finance 2004,which empowers the Secretary of the Treasury (ST) to receive information, set conditions and oversee valuation of assets, ensure efficient management, protect the interest of the government during privatization, and oversee the winding up of State Owned Enterprises/ statutory…

    • and oversee the winding up of State Owned Enterprises/ statutory corporations ) to curb the rampant tunneling which saw the same people involved in the privatistion process, sit on the boards and hold shares in the very companies they privatised on behalf of the Zambian Govt.Morally,HH must have been like Valentine Chitalu who has chosen a low profile life than insult the intelligence of the Zambians in the know, by claiming to be the Messiah. It is for this same reason the Paradise papers chose to expose him leaving out his ZPA collegues because atleast they(HH’s colleagues at ZPA) have chosen not to be hypocrites. Here Habazooka is appealing to their moral conscience.

  21. Those who were given the opportunity to give away the mines saw an opening and went through it. I remember the guys in ZPA chewed the little that some former workers for the then National drum and Can company were to get and surely they never got that money to date. This was at the time of the famous privatization of companies. The machinery for the then Furncoz also turned into air. The Lord knows who the beneficially was. Yes, those who helped to sell the assets must have had a plan as to how the Nation was gonna benefit from the sales. Just saying I had a BRILLIANT plan is not convincing enough.

  22. At the age of 31, HH had a lot of investments in south Africa and in America. The money from the sale of companies were supposed to be deposited in the privatisation revenue account (PRA) at the Bank of Zambia which is controlled by the Minister for Finance. No figures were published by the Zambia Privatisation Agency or the Ministry of Finance detailing out goings from the account or how the money generated.

These are the people we should be asking questions. Enoch Kavindele, Minister of Commerce, Daniel Munkombwe, Edith Nawakwi, Mr. Valentine Chitalu, Mr. Francis Kaunda appointed by Chiluba to lead the privatization of ZCCM. Mr Willa Mung’omba, Mr Abel Mukandawire was chairman ZPA, Mr Luke Mwanashiku, Mr Edward Shamutete, Mr Kaunda Lembalemba-minister of mines, Mr Ronald Penza –…

  23. @@@continued@#$”$—-
Kaunda Lembalemba-minister of mines, Mr Ronald Penza – Minister of Finance. Mr Lewis Preston-Former president of World Bank.

I have researched and researched and i can’t find the name HH mentioned any where for doing any wrong. The only mention you will get in those reports of any linkage to HH is the FACT that the firm of consultants he was working for was engaged to value the companies and recommend to government. Government ignored the professional advice and sold the companies for a fraction of what the valuers recommended.

    I submit!!

    Neto Halwabala

    • Neto Halwaba – Whatever twisting you will try to do the fact is HH personally benefited from the privatization process and that is why he fails to account for the trail of his riches. Also, the focus is on HH because Shamutete and others are not looking to becoming President of Zambia.

  24. Education doesnt do anything to people its only the knoledge of God that makes people understand this Habazooka guy is just fighting for identity

  25. By Dr. Albert D. Bwalya
Patriotic Front Members should know that HH was not in government when Fredrick Chiluba was selling the mines. He was neither a government agent but was rather helping the MMD regime as one of the 120 Zambian Economists called by Fredrick Chiluba to try to value the mines.
At the time of privatisation, HH was already a wealthy man with a lot of investments in South Africa and in America. He was just called by President Chiluba to be among the 120 senior government economists to try and value the mines on behalf of the government.
People who are talking about privatization are either ignorant about the whole issue or are just deliberately doing so to scandalize HH.Ask Madam Edith Nawakwi the Finance Minister at that time and she will tell you the truth that HH…

  26. What nature has not given you no university will. Such is the case with you Haabazoka. You may have a degree after your name but you are still very dull and sadly foolish to not mix politics of your stomach with professionalism. You are busy trying to make political mileage by parading yourself as a fool which is very unfortunate.

  27. (Continued ) ^^^^@#
Ask Madam Edith Nawakwi the Finance Minister at that time and she will tell you the truth that HH was never involved in any under valuing the mines. We are still blessed as a country because the one who was Finance Minister at that time is still alive and active in politics. Nawakwi would have been in forefront condemning HH if he was really guilty.

In Zambia its like every God chosen person has to undergo accusations. Look at how the Late President Sata (MHSRIP) suffered before being elected. The same people that are in PF today insulting HH (Bowman Lusambo and Dora Siliya) were the ones who were in forefront of calling our father Micheal Sata as a man who wanted to promote homosexual. Homosexual against Micheal Sata was like a national anthem for Dora Silya and…

Dora Silya and Lusambo. Today it is heartbreaking to see the same people that insulted our departed leader being given front seats in PF and Government while members that laboured for the party are still wallowing in poverty after spending all they had to make the party grow despite persecution.

The PF is now desperate as it has run out of campaign strategy hence to resort to tribalism, privatization and violence forgetting that all those are outdated political gimmicks.

  30. the structural Adjustment Program.Successive governments had to elevate inexperienced and less educated fellows that has degraded our institutional capacities to day.Our current socio-economic situation is a result of a broad spectrum of factors caused by SAP and AIDS.

  31. If people who are learned and should be both ethical and intellectual intheir analysis of such issues, it is a big problem because these are the same cadres that misinofrm those who may not even understand how the privatisation was done and worked. As much as I’m not a supporter of HH, I think he has been smeared badly on this issue of privatisation and the tag will never go away. Some sections of society may even hate him because of such pronouncements that have been made against him. This Dr should have himself checked and learn to present issue with honest.

  32. I hope Zambians have learned a lesson about corrupt regimes they bring up lies like Stand-up For Zambia with Chanda Chishimba the third like people say ngawuli kwitaba kuti walanda ifilifyonse let’s take Chishimba Kambwili for example you are a fool to trust a person who gets paid to lie to you CK’s job was to lie to us & he did his job well enough when Dora was in MMD her job was to lie to us she did that & she continues to do so

  33. I hope Zambians have learned a lesson about corrupt regimes they bring up lies like Stand-up For Zambia with Chanda Chishimba the third like people say ngawuli kwitaba kuti walanda ifilifyonse let’s take Chishimba Kambwili for example you are a f@@l to trust a person who gets paid to lie to you CK’s job was to lie to us & he did his job well enough when Dora was in MMD her job was to lie to us she did that & she continues to do so

  34. Dont waste your time. Just google hh interview sabc

He failed to answer pn QUESTION TIME how he became a multi millionaire

If you are only just google now: hh on sabc

  35. For more than 20 years every government that has come into power has failed to arrest HH over privatisation but they keep making pronouncements about how he is a criminal if you are smart you can see the truth for what it is imagine a police officer who always tells you that a your neighbour is a thief but yet the officer who you pay your hard earned cash through taxes not arresting the theif but only advises you to stop talking to your neighbour

  36. @1.12 Katana, SPOT ON, ZCCM was sold and it has been years since that happened! We have had new mines opening (Lumwana, Kanshanshi,Kalumbila etc). What WE NEED NOW IS TO PLAN THE FUTURE SO THAT WE CAN GET HOLD OF OUR NATIONAL ECONOMY. But that will be hard as indiscipline and corruption is the order of the day in our culture of running national affairs. As @1.12 katana has explained, CODECO is the the ZCCM of Chile which still runs some mines and had offered ti buy some of our mines! IF WE WERE DISCIPLINED ENOUGH I WOULD HAVE ADVOCATED NATIONALIZATION OF ANY MINE THAT WOULD RETRENCH STAFF,BUT THAT WOULD BE COURTING A DISASTER,WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR MANAGEMENT OF OUR KEY PARASTATALS,ZESCO,ZAMTEL!! HOWEVER,WE NEED A NATIONAL DISCUSSION ON THIS ISSUE!!

  37. In all honesty and fairness, apology is the most kind demand Zambians can make to the savages , hard core criminals, yes ‘un patriotic’ exploiters who where part to the sale of mines, otherwise, in relation to the damage and misery they caused , one would rightfully demand a prize on their heads. It was criminal!

  38. No one will apologise! They are ALL guilty as charged. Like ‘PERESTROIKA” in Russia under Gorbachev created billionaires like owner of Chelsea football club, also privatisation in Zambia created our own nouva rich. many lawyers and accountants made money. Most are eating quietly but some , not so. Because HH is so talked about, franky, I think the guy is not cut out to be a politician. He is too rigid – he doesn’t ” flow”. Otherwise, the way he was FORCED into his current role ( and now he is sucked into it) has created this perception. Before then, when he just financed the suave and savvy AKM, quite frankly, I admired his success. But his image now is sad because he has evolved into something quite disgusting.

    • Infact Boris Yeltsin’s privatisation and transformation of market economy and free foreign exhange rates created the current oligarchs in Russia.Vladmir Putin knew all the shenanigans that created the oligarchs and when he ascended to power,he summoned them and warned the oligarchs to stay out of politics.Mikhail Khordorsky, the richest oligarch at that time with his YUKOS empire, chose to disobey Putin and the rest is history. When Putin was crushing Khordorsky’s empire, average Russians were not sympathetic with any oligarchs because of their ill-gotten wealth under President Yeltsin. The same can be said with our ‘oligarchs’ and how they poorly handled theZambian privatisation process only to their benefit.

  39. Is this the only thing we can get from EAZ? Those of us who have been closer to him have advised him to be professional. But he won’t listen to us. He has already made up his mind and is very hopeful to become Lungu’s running mate in 2021. His other problem is that he is trying to be different from Tongas who are branded tribalist. But the route he is using to disassociate himself from that Tonga tag is a wrong one because it is bringing to question the level of his credentials. I can assure that he won’t listen to some of us who have tried to advise him to be professional. Some of his colleagues at EAZ have advised him not to issue statement as though they were coming from the association because they felt embarrassed .

    • Doesn’t change the fact that those who were engaged in the sell of our assets and are still living should apologize. Its a fair call.

  40. Does this so called economist know that the Zambia has lost more money through theft and poor management in PF era than we (Zambians) lost through privatisation? One day this chap will be sorry for his dull statements. At least he has come out in the open and we know how to deal with him correctly.

  41. It is sad to see so many insults targeted at this or that person. People need to exercise wisdom. The individuals they are trying to defend are busy enjoying themselves and they don’t and will never reward them let alone know them. If an individual is aspiring for political office and is alleged to have stolen public wealth or involved in some scandal, the best the public should do is investigate and should the allegations turn out to be true, then just don’t vote them to those offices they are aspiring. Let’s love our beloved country above individuals.PERIOD!

  42. DON’T UNDER ESTIMATE THE POWER OF ASORRY.
It’s like someone gets to raped someone and this same perpetrator still wants to marry her or him without an apology. Who does that?

  43. DON’T UNDER ESTIMATE THE POWER OF ASORRY.
It’s like someone gets to r.a.p.e. someone and this same perpetrator still wants to marry her or him without an apology. Who does that?

  44. In due course half truth peddled by this russian economist will appear as the truth. Ignore HAABAZOKA HE is tellling lies.i was part of the zambian expert team involved in the privatization. the mines at the time was selling copper below production cost. GRZ had no money to re- capitalize. WORLD BANK DICTATED terms for a bail out.
Ask Francis KAUNDA for the truth.

no wonder in my time only people with poor grades went to Russia for studies – on the many scholarships given by Russian government to churn out garbage like HAABAZOKA.

  45. He went to Russia and brought back a wife and putting his boot – licking skills he learnt there to very good use. Just a slimy shameless cadre masquerading as an economist. A waste of fresh air.

  46. Lubinda Habaazoka IS SPOT ON!. He is right. Leave him alone. He is a Zambia that is free to voice opinion on REAL issues – TRAITORS. Those chaps must not just apologise but must be locked up and key thrown away.

  47. HH has never been President of this country please! Like now if you with your retarded brains it takes you 10 years to know AVIC is a resource drain and corrupt vehicle, are you going to for example blame whoever worked for AVIC or with them not the the decision makers today? C’m on Lubinda, we know all know life is hard but not this way to ease up!

    • And he will never.

      Google hh interview sabc

The African community now knows he just a crook who made money through privatization

He made $$$$$millions in 5years and wired it to Panama. He’s a crook

How can a hard-core thief admit

He will die with a NO

  49. Had to re-post Sharp Shooter’s great words. We cannot let thieves that created Zambia’s mess to continue thinking we are gullible. Apologize for selling the nation out.

  50. MMD GRN was the main culprit of privatisation, but yet it is in marriage with the PF enjoy intercourse. how that you stigmatise an employee of an outsource company that has never walked for government is in itself proof highly corrupted minds of PF and their cadres. The mistress of privatisation is in your bedroom having an protected sex with you, leave hh alone you corrupt PF thugs…

  51. @its polical and your fellow brain damaged PF cadres, if it is true you are really concerned about privation as you want the people to believe why then PF is in marriage with the real mistress of privation – MMD having intercourse without shame? Why do we hear you vomit the same venom on MMD as you are throwing on hh. You can only fool stupid people like you, we all know that it your hate of Tonga people that is why you are throwing all over this blog.

  52. The source of HH’s money is PRIVATIZATION!!!This is 100% true just like the source of Mr Bokani Soko’s money is the 42 FIRE ENGINES which he supplied to PF Govnt at US$1million dollars each!!!Sometimes UPND cadres should learn not to support a issue which even a mental patient from Chainama cant defend.Ever since HH joined politics in 2006,he has failed to explain the source of his money because he knows 100% that the money came From PRIVATIZATION but he simply can say it openly as he fears the Zambian voters. One can ask HH about how he became rich 1000 times, but still HH cant answer such a question!!!HH and FTJ Chiluba have killed million of Zambians who worked in the sold (privatized) ZCCM mines.Us who lived in the copperbelt know how vibrate, good, helpful ZCCM was to millions of…

  53. Habazoka was still wearing nappies when privatization was being done. Let him ask his grandfather instead of defeacating from his mouth

  54. Just answer one question ecomonist. Before privatisation, before 1991, was everyone so rich so that they wanted to keep economic genius KK and Fossil Chikwanda kwamuyaya? And when somehow 85% voted “kuyabebele” was it fake news? Was it HH? Uli uchipu bafye

  55. Why complain of someone making $7 million and loss of 21000 jobs 27 years ago, when national debt today is $13 billion and government blankly, zombified, states Batoka Gorge is going to create 2 million jobs additionally to the 500,000 jobs already created by PF this year? Stop lying and overdrinking and get some perspective if you call youself “economists” or “government”

  56. I think for once let HH set his record straight….let him distance himself from these allegations once and for all……but you know what it’s typical of Zambian leaders not to exculpate themselves from rumors pertaining to their wealth…..some recent Financial report highlighted some dealings and names were mentioned but it’s all gone quiet, where was EAZ then and yet they have cited someone from historical events to explain themselves now…..so those cited in financial reports will have to explain themselves when they go out of power, (when they become opposition)…????if anything EAZ should even be ashamed of themselves….they should publish a credible list of those who participated in privatization, they are a big association who Zambia should rely on to get authentic data of…

  57. ….what transpired during privatization…..they should not speculate…..they should have the correct information and statistics of what really transpired……it’s a shame for this country, the learned have been reduced to professional cadres….cadreism has become a part of qualification for one to make it even in the corporate world….shame, shame shame….my heart bleeds for mother Zambia…..we are really f**ked up as a people of this great nation….EAZ, Mr. Habazoka sir,…don’t be an ordinary blogger, differentiate yourself by not wasting time debating nonsensical matters which won’t add any value to the economic situation Zambia is in…….please offer economic solutions to this our people…..its even more surprising, coz sir, you were busy supporting the Zaffico issue…

  58. ….meanwhile you know that’s yet another privatization disguised as”floating company on Stock Exchange” …meanwhile deep down within you, you know not so many Zambians are abreast with the operation of Stock Exchange….and just which ordinary Zambian can buy shares when majority are wallowing in abject poverty of the mind and soul???10_15years people will be questioning who approved listing of state companies on the stock exchange….we indeed dimwits, we never learn…..you want to be given the same question as one in an example…..even when you given the same question as an example, you still fail….that’s how bad it is….

  59. HH was an employee of a private audit firm that was contracted to work out the modalities AFTER government had already decided to sell the mines. These incessant ‘below the belt’ attacks on him are based on political prostitution and ignorance. Further, those who have followed this man’s views (Haabazoka) will note that on previous occasions he made objective professional observations about the state of the economy. But he has since metamorphosed into a parasite seeking favours from the ruling party – something has triggered it and revealed his inherent lack of principles. In fact, we have less and less men and women in Zambia in positions of responsibility who can still hold their heads high on principle and hold a genuine resolve to work towards emancipating the down trodden in…

  60. @ Njimbu … again writing from a premise of political as#licking. Do some research and get your facts right. I am not a member of the UPND, but these incessant selfish based attacks are one of the reasons Zambia continuously moves backwards. HH was already slowly buying cattle and small plots from his first job when he graduated. Coming from a cattle rearing heritage, having studied economics and later an MBA, he used these to enhance his already business minded attribute. His being hired by the international audit firms was based on the recognition of his qualifications and more on his business acumen at an early stage.
It is disheartening that because of selfish political endeavors, a convenient ‘blind eye’ is turned towards HH’s actual business achievements.

  61. Every Zambian knows that I have no qualms criticising Trib.al Hacks, he is the embodiment of failed leadership because of trib.al.
But this Habazooka thing really pisses me off…is there no other way for him to beg for a job than leaking the backsides of politicians? Is he an economist did you say? Is he the president of the Economics Association of Zambia? And Zambian economists elected him or what? I used to criticise Linda Kasonde but I see that the lawyers neatly sorted out that beautiful misleader of LAZ. But I must say that Linda while misrepresenting LAZ and misleading trib.als (she was not even looking for a job it seems), her low integrity now appears a thousand times better than this thing Habazooka…..which literally means “of the snake”…..which then means even PF must…

  62. ….which then means even PF must watch the grass!!!!

Ati wants job at BoZ? Fuseke…we have our capable Dr Denny Kalyalya, no vacancy there.

  63. I really don’t understand the reasoning of UPND blind followers. Haabazoka said that ‘ALL THOSE WHO WERE INVOLVED’ in the privatisation of must apologise. You maintain that HH was not involved at any stage but you’re the first to defend his role in privatisation whenever comments are made. Dr Haabazoka did not even hint on his involvement but there you’re castigating for things he’s not said. This clearly tells us there is something he did that you don’t want Zambians to Know. Consultancy fee of $7m for a project only worth $25m. An individual got more than 25% of the total cost of ZCCM out of more than 10 million Zambians?

  64. Some comments are just useless. A consultant does not make a decision for any company or the government. It was up to the professionals in government and ZCCM to have made a wise decision. Where was the Minister of finance and her professionals? And where was the Minister of the Mines and his professionals. And the government had access to University of Zambia professionals and Zambia Chamber of Commerce. Selling of a giant ZCCM could not have been done by one consulting company. Am surprised, even the people who have gone to school are cheated by cadres that HH store the money because he is in opposition. Why would any reasonable government depend only on HH who doesn’t understand all dynamics of the mines. Mr. Francis Kaunda. former executive of ZCCM was jailed regarding sell of the…

  65. Ba Sharon and the other minions, mwabepa. A renowned mineral economist, Dr. Matthias Mphande, who is a qualified mining engineer debated in Parliament and advised the government to break up ZCCM and sell of the mines in units and not as a whole ‘sick industry’…..well before Grant Thornton was contracted to evaluate the industry. At the time, there was no way out other than to privatise…Period!

  66. New information has emaerged as it turns out our dear humble president was also part of the privitasition team in fact he was the negotiating chairman for the sale of Zambia Cold Storage during privatisation so tell us is Mr Lungu a thief also
