President Edgar Lungu says he is clean and ready to testify over his role in the privatization of Zambia Cold storage.
The President whose spokesperson admitted early this week that he was a negotiating Chairman in the privatization of Keembe storage said he has not yet made a decision on whether to set up a Public and Judge led Inquiry into the privatization of companies.
He said he has taken note of the calls being made by various stakeholders for him to set up the inquiry but that he will only do so if he is convinced that there is need to.
President Lungu said there is no position yet on the matter but some people in government feel that there is need to set up the inquiry because he has been implicated in the matter.
“I’ve also been implicated that I sold the Cold Storage Board and that I pocketed the money but am clean and am ready to testify”, President Lungu said at City Airport shortly before departure for the Copperbelt where he is scheduled to open the PF conference tomorrow.
President Lungu said Cabinet will be presented with the matter and will decide on the way forward because he cannot make the decision alone.
State House spokesperson Amos Chanda recently called for a public and judge-led inquiry into the privatization of companies where an opposition politician has been named.
Mr. Chanda said President Lungu did not sale the Keembe storage to himself, or relatives and friends.
And commenting on the dialogue, President Lungu said he is ready to participate in the process once the three Church Mother Bodies and the Zambia Center for Interparty Dialogue put their house in order.
He said the two parties currently don’t seem to have their house in order.
And who is dirty?
With Lungu’s history, you cant trust that he is clean. Anyways, he is the president and nothing can happen to him even if we find out that he pocketed some money. WASTE OF TIME INQUIRY>>

Before any one declares how clean they are, let the prospective Commission of Inquiry take its course. It will be an exercise in futility if all people who participated in privatization process start declaring their cleanliness before the commission is constituted. It is not about how clean or dirty someone is. It is about how the process went. Who benefited dubiously from the process? Who took undue advantage of the process owing to naivety and porous the process was? Innocence should be declared after the commission of inquiry has exonerated every one who took part in the process. It is frivolous, at law, to declare oneself clean before the due process commences. Everyone who participated in the privatization process will start claiming innocence. It will render the whole process null…
If an “ordinary citizen” who was not even in government, not even as a District Administrator, can be blamed for privatizing national assets then that individual must be great…. So I would rather have that individual for president.

At least ECL has broken his silence and he is ready to testify over the role he played in the privatization of cold storage unlike HH who is still mute over this issue, they say the guilty ones are always afraid, he is afraid to speak out about his role in the privitisation of ZCCM assets, lima bank, mus-o-tunya hotel, luanshya mine etc. We Zambians want to know what transpired during the sale of state owned enterprises which resulted in some culprits becoming billionaires overnight and victims mostly miners were sent to their early graves. I sincerely hope this entire exercise is not targetted at HH or meant to disadvantage him at the 2021 elections.
