Zesco United and Nkana will warm-up for their respective 2018/2019 CAF Confederation Cup engagements when they meet at the month-end in the 2019 season-opening Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhlovu Memorial Charity Shield.

El Kopala derby is set for a venue to be advised on the Copperbelt on January 26 to kick-off the transitional 2019 league season that will run from January to June before FAZ switches to the Euro-style format it has adopted that commences in August.

Due to operational reasons, FAZ has decided skip the Charity Shield semifinals and instead adopt a super cup format for this transitional period that will see the league champions face the Barclays Cup winners.

Meanwhile, the league season will commence 24 hours later on January 27 with the two berth top flight of ten teams.

The winners of each group will meet in a league final play-off while the bottom two from each berth will be demoted.

Starting next season ,the league will revert to a more manageable 18-team structure while Division 1 will return to a one stream module following a costly two-year experiment.

Pool one will consists of Zesco, Green Buffaloes, Zanaco, Kabwe Warriors, Red Arrows, Lusaka Dynamos, Kitwe United, Nakambala Leopards, Mufulira Wanderers and Circuit City.

Nkana, Green Eagles, Power Dynamos, Buildcon, Nkwazi, Forest Rangers, Napsa Stars, Lumwana Radiants, Prison Leopards and MUZA are in Pool Two.
