The Ministry of Works and Supply has ordered people whose vehicles have been marooned at the Government Complex to remove them in the next three days without fail.

And the Ministry has also ordered all those with no business at the Complex to stop parking at the Complex with immediate effect.

The Ministry has noted that private motor vehicles are being parked at the Government Complex unlawfully while some people have resorted to using the parking spaces at the Complex as personal slots for their vehicles as they go about conducting their personal business elsewhere.

Ministry spokesperson Ndubi Mvula says this is now causing unnecessary congestion at the premises and Government has now put in place measurers to restrict access to the Complex for the purpose of safeguarding the property and ensure a conducive business environment.

“This includes all non-runners and broken down private registered motor vehicles. Owners have been given up to Monday 7th January 2019 to comply, failure to which they risk forfeiting their vehicles.

Mr. Mvula said the Minister of Works and Supply Mutotwe Kafwaya issued the directive following the impromptu visit he made to the Complex and discovered that the premises was filled with private registered vehicles which are either broken down or non-runners.

“The Minister wants to see the surroundings cleared of all non-runner vehicles, general cleaning up of the premises as a response to keeping Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy.
Mr. KAFWAYA noted that as the Complex is a strategic property and plays host to a number of Government Ministries as well as other clients, all services should be in good working condition without fail”, He said.

Mr. Mvula said the Minister also implored upon the property managers contracted by his Ministry to make sure that they deliver the expected services to all clients at the Government Complex.

“And some officers from the Ministry have since been deployed to the Government Complex to see to it that the directives issued by Hon. KAFWAYA are adhered without fail.In addition, the Minister has directed that all parking slots be redesigned with proper signage so that all clients both Government and private park their vehicles in designated places”, He added.

Mr. Mvula said the measurers are meant to create sanity at the premises and allow the prevalence of a conducive working environment for all.

  1. People always take chances. Mister minister, your move is better late than never. Part of the security is to control people that come into Govt. premises.
