Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people in Eastern Province has castigated contractors engaged to construct roads in some parts of the Province for doing shoddy works.

The traditional leader says the poor workmanship by certain contractors has continued to tarnish the image of government in the province.

He said contractors putting up shoddy works are stealing from Government and should be punished for their actions.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni also urged President Edgar Lungu not to be distracted by people who are on a mission to criticise his developmental projects in the country.

The Traditional Leader was speaking when Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo and Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure Development Permanent Secretary Charles Mushota called on him at his Pendukeni palace today.

And Mr. Mushota has assured the Traditional leader that his Ministry will follow up all contractors who have left their sites after being paid.

He said the Government is in a hurry to develop the country and will not allow any contractors derailing projects.

Meanwhile Mr. Kasolo has charged that government will follow up any contractor who has abandoned their projects.

  1. The PF and low quality work go hand-in-hand.

The PF and overpricing dodgy contracts go hand-in-hand.

The PF and corruption go hand-in-hand.

The PF and fires on prime land go ……

  2. Say upfront Mpezeni you are a Chief, just say avic, china jinx, or china whatever, backed by pf, simple as that

    • There is no AVIC, China Jinx, or China whatever in Eastern Province. The only road contractor doing township roads in Eastern Province is this criminal called SABLE. In 2016 the mayor announced on radio that he had been funded to finish town ship road. The only thing we saw was the repairing of 4 bridges near Wise donkey. Nothing else was done. In 2017 The same mayor announced that Sable had been paid to complete township roads. Sable nicely moved on Site on Kalindawaro Road. He did not finish. In 2018 (few weeks ago) the mayor announced that Sable had been funded to do township roads. but to date (2019) sable has failed to work on the roads. How many times will this sable be paid to do township roads in Chipata? Recently the mayor announced that he was surprised that sable had not…

  3. ZIKOMO Nkhosi for adding your voice to this. You are right to condemn fake contractors who are stealing from the Zambian people.

We hope PS Kasolo and Mayor Mwale will work even harder to ensure that Sable works on the township roads particularly in Chipata. ZIKOMO NKHOSI

    • It is really sad. How and why should a stretch of less than 3 kilometres from Lutembwe school to town take over a year to be completed??
Why does govt continue releasing funds without inspecting the works and the quality??

The road from Jemita through DK stadium joining kawalala road is already damaged even before completion. Very pathetic. Sable must be punished their poor workmanship.
The PS is very vocal, but why should it take the Nkhosi to voice out when his office is just a few metres away from some of the sites??

  4. Is it just me or there is something wrong in the Zambian governance system? How on earth can you be paying the same contractor time and again when he has failed several times? How do you even engage him the second time when he has failed to deliver the first time? I can smell a rotten rat here. Someone id benefitting from this rotten system hence no hurry to fix it.

    • Mungule, the Kalindawaro road is about 4 Km and it has taken over 5 years without being completed.

To Sable, I say, every dog has its day. My God is watching and your Allah and Mohammad are also watching.
We have cried enough. Government officials are not assisting. Sable is too big even for Kasolo to control. So we hand this over to God. Thank you. AMEN!
