Lusaka Mayor, Miles Sampa, says he is impressed with the progress made by Sinoma Cement Company of Lusaka.

The company which was launched in 2015 has since set up a cement plant and producing 60,000 x 50kg bags of cement per day.

Mr Sampa said this when he toured the cement plant in Lusaka today.

“I am really impressed with the amount of development this company has attained since its launch in 2015,” he said.

Mr. Sampa was particularly happy that he was the one assigned to officiate at the launch of the company in 2015 when he served as Commerce Deputy Minister.

He said the company is likely to create more jobs for Zambian youths when it attains full production of 75,000 x 50kg bags of cement per day by engaging them as direct employees and also indirectly as distributors of cement.

“I am here to give solidarity, encourage and remind the company to grow even bigger and employ more of our youths,” he added.

The Mayor pledged to support any efforts aimed at creating jobs for youths in the city.

And company public relations manager, Wang Weiqi expressed gratitude over the Mayor’s visit and words of encouragements.

Mr. Weiqi said his company has received a warm welcome into Zambia in general and Lusaka in particular.

He said investing in Zambia will further improve the relationship which exists between Zambia and China.

This is according to a statement issued by LCC Public Relations Manager George Sichimba.

  1. I hope we have Zambian shareholders in the company. It’s the only way we shall eventually become economically independent. ..as long as those Zambians are financially disciplined.

    • A bag is generally K63 to K65 for 32.5N and K69 to K72 for 42.5N. It’s been the same for years. What are you complaining about??

    • Before Dangote came on the scene cement had actually gone up to k102.00 per bag. At one time one cement company even threatened to close the company due to the “unfair ” competition by Dangote. Dangote offered to buy this company. They never closed and nowadays they even sell cheaper than Dangote.

    • Chinks are smart the know that the number one expensive ingredient in construction is cement after labour …so why not just set up factory in Zambia when AVIC wins a contract just sell cement to them at half price and send all the money back we Zambian fooooools will be left with overpriced KKIA projects to payback with zero left in our sectors.

    • …..Just bought Sinoma cement @ K61 this morning from a road side container on Kasama Road. Down from K63 last week from the same outlet! My builder rates the Sinoma cement higher than mphavu and dangote . . .love them or hate them , the Chines mean business

  2. Does ka Sampa offer the same solidarity to Zambian owned companies is is it only Chinese ones ? Or there are no Zambians companies ??

    • Is that all you have to say? Most major Zambian companies went under after the privatization of ZCCM and the other 200+ parastatals. The above companies used to give huge contracts to the Zambian owned companies. You kill all the flies in the world, you create an even worse ecological and environmental disaster.

    • This is all free publicity he is giving them …like he did at that supermarket and started rubbishing a competitor; am sure he is getting kickbacks for this.

  3. Sampa has no shame what is he doing touring a cement Factory, last week he was in Zanzibar admiring cameras…now he is touring Sinoma Cement Co.,Ltd. a Chink company was founded in 2003 and is based in Beijing, China. Sinoma Cement Co.,Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of China National Materials Company Limited.
These foools dont see why China have set up factory here …all those EXIM Bank overpriced contracts will be cheaper for those Chink state companies as they will buy everything from here taking more money out of the country.

  4. I buy the cement @ 58 kwacha per 50kg bag from most places along Great North road up to the 10 miles peg. Imagine without Dangote, Great wall and now Sinoma cement, That copany would have been in the hundreds by now. To crown it all the number of people in employment due to cement production is so big. When the PF said they were going to create thousands of jobs, it was like a by-the-way talk. Now that there was almost NO cholera in Lsk.please ensure the rubbish is cleared and the generators held responsible. Good luck Miles!

  5. Last time sampa visited this company he was deputy minister. This time he is mayor. Next time he will be office orderly.

  6. The fact that you are impressed by a company that employs over 200 Chinese nationals (most of them who can’t even speak English let alone any of our local languages) shows how much trouble we are in as a country.
even vital safety signage at Sinoma is written in Chinese with no English translation. In a sane place, that is cause for concern not celebration by the cities mayor!
