Zambia await Group B winners in 2019 COSAFA Cup quarterfinals

Zambia have a rough idea who their 2019 COSAFA Cup quarterfinal opponents will be following draws made on Thursday evening in Johannesburg.

South Africa will host this year’s tournament from May 25 to June 8 in Durban.

Zambia enjoy a preliminary group stage bye as one of the six highest ranked teams based on their FIFA rankings and have gone straight into the quarterfinals.

But Zambia will only know their opponents after Group B games are concluded in early June.

Malawi, Namibia, Seychelles and Mozambique are the Group B teams vying for a quarterfinal spot.

Four-time winners Zambia have not won the COSAFA Cup since lifting the trophy as hosts in 2013.

Zambia have finished runners up in successive tournaments after losing to record six-time champions Zimbabwe in the 2017 and 2018 finals.
