Zambia Sugar Operations Manager Graham Rolfe has disclosed that his company intend to start supplying power to ZESCO using renewable energy.
Mr. Rolfe says Zambia is currently producing 40 thousand megawatts of electricity enough to power Mazabuka district and the sourounding area.
He said Zambia Sugar has the necessary netural resources to produce Biofuel but appealed to Ministry of Energy to provide an enaboling inveroment for companies willing to invest in renewable energies.
Mr. Rolfe said this when government representatives and stakeholders toured Zambia Sugar in Mazabuka district to appreciate Biofuel development.
Ministry of National Development and planning Assist Director Economic Sectors Mwila Daka says government is holding Consultative meetings with local and foregn stakeholders on how best government can revisit Biofuel to reduce on the cost of fuel In the country.
And Zambia Institute for Policy and Research Executive Director Pamela Nakamba says government has designed a clear road map to revisit renewable energy.

I remember how many years ago people called Kaunda mad for his fuel from grass project. That was biofuels except that people could not understand it and he could not explain the idea better. He should have persisted and we should have listened and been willing to learn and explore the idea more. We would have been miles ahead now.
Zambia Sugar has been trying to supply Power to ZESCO for over 10 years now.
Same with ETHANOL production at ZSC.
Come on PF and Zambia, move FORWARD.
