Zambia Police in Eastern province have blocked National Democratic Congress(NDC) President Chishimba Kambwili from addressing a public rally in Chipata district, despite having earlier issued a permit to NDC sanctioning the rally.
The permit was issued a week ago.
The scheduled meeting was scheduled to be addressed by Mr. Kambwili and members of his central committee.
According to Mr. Kambwili, Zambia police in Eastern Province had received instructions from higher authorities to cancel the rally, adding that the rally can only take place once he left Chipata district.
According to Zambia Police in Eastern Province they decided cancel the rally on grounds that official records shows that Chishimba Kambwili is not the party leader.
The Police further encouraged the NDC to resolve its leadership wrangles so that a permit could be re-issued to the right entity
Earlier the Police had granted permission for the rally for the opposition party with a permit saying they did not know at the time of issuance that purported leader, Chishimba Kambwili would be one of the speakers.
Chipata deputy commanding officer, only identified as Chilekwa, told the NDC leadership that went to prepare Mpezeni Park that the rally had been cancelled as Kambwili is not the official leader.
The officer said the police were not informed that Kambwili would be one of the speakers at the rally when they authorised it.
The Police encouraged the NDC to sort out its national leadership before such speakers could be allowed to hold meetings.
And later, the NDC leadership led by Menyani Zulu and Lombani Musichili went to seek clarity from Eastern Province police commissioner Luckson Sakala who confirmed that the police command had cancelled the rally.
The commissioner said the rally could only go ahead if the Provincial or local leadership addressed the meeting and further if assurances were granted that Kambwili was not among speakers.
Dozens of police officers in riot gear have sealed off Mpezeni Park to ensure that the rally to secure the area.
Beware of idyots in large numbers.
This why we needed a proper national dialogue to address such issues not the recently held national disaster forum which had a misplaced priorities.
Enough with Politics lets talk more about development…..we have had enough of these useless gatherings….no rallies for PF ,NDC,UPND,MMD etc…..lets get back to work please…thank you

When a political party in power losses support its leaders usually abuse state power to suppress the opposition parties. Such a party like the way Pf is behaving even losses more supporters and remains only as a shell. Pf is no longer popular, if it was, it would use its popularity to influence public opinion not police abuse. No matter how this can be explained, the court of public opinion is of the view that Pf is frightened and therefore abusing state police.
It beats all logic how police have huge resources to harrass law abiding citizens opposed to the Pf within a second and no resources to deal with the law breaking Pf cadres who Stone council workers and storm into radio stations. Circumstantial evidence points to a police service that is being abused by those in Government, how else can this be explained?

Right now PF has created a huge negative investment atmosphere where foreign investors are threatened to pay bribes and show support for the PF or their live will be made difficult.
Investors are starting to leave Zambia because of the toxic political atmosphere created by PF.

Reconciliation is the only way to shame the devil. Stubbornness sometimes cost a dollar. This is not about police but Musenge and Kambwili.

My advice to any sensible Zambian is to try and set up an alternative base in foreign land whilst managing assets in Zambia. This is what I have done. This does not mean that I am unpatriotic. It is because I have lost confidence in the Zambian government and will only fully relocate when a competent government is in power . Until then i will continue collecting my rent money from Zambia and safely banking it in my United kingdom Barclays account and other swiss accounts. That country has gone to the rats

Kambwili has a track record of discipline and leadership. When he was the head boy and UNIP youth league chairman he commanded the youth with discipline and loyalty.
Musenge is doing this with collusion with PF and as such he will be remembered as a hired canon. People are not happy and as such PF is digging it’s own grave. As the say give a man enough rope to tie himself. Time for reckoning has come

To my knowledge CK was kicked out of Parliament coz they said he can’t be PF member of Parliament and at same time be the President of NDC. Now they saying he can’t hold rallies coz he’s not the president of NDC. Which is which?
