Zambia is on fire-Dr M’membe

Fred M’membe

Socialist Party 2021 presidential candidate Dr Fred M’membe says Zambia is on fire and urged people to liberate themselves.

Dr M’membe said he had offered himself for the leadership of the country because of the suffering and humiliation the majority of the people were enduring.

He was speaking Saturday afternoon during a fairly attended party’s first ever public rally at Nsansa grounds in Chimwemwe, Kitwe.

“It was like jumping from a frying pan into fire. Now we need to quickly get out of the fire before we are all burnt to ashes. But not jumping into the frying pan again,” he told the cheering people.

“I am here because of your suffering. I am here because of the humiliation you have to endure everyday due to unemployment, poor housing, sanitation, water supply, failing to feed your children and pay their school fees,” he told multitudes of Kitwe residents.

“I am here because of the challenges you are facing in paying medical bills for yourselves and your families. I am here because of the difficulties you are facing to clothe yourselves and your children”.

Dr M’membe said poverty levels on the Copperbelt remained at 30.8 per cent despite it being an industrial centre of the country.

“Of course, this is not the worst. We have poverty levels of 82.2 per cent in Western Province; 81.1 per cent in Luapula Province; 79.7 per cent in Northern Province; 70 per cent in Eastern Province; 69.3 per cent in Muchinga Province; 66.4 per cent in North-Western Province; 57.6 per cent in Southern Province; 56.2 per cent in Central Province and 20.2 per cent in Lusaka Province,” he said.

He said despite the country waging a liberation struggle for independence, a better and more dignified life had not come, and things were actually getting worse.

“Today our country is the fourth hungriest country in Africa after Chad, the Central African Republic and Madagascar. We are number four in Africa kunsala. If it was soccer we would qualify straight to the semi-finals of the Africa Cup,” he said.

“We are blessed with good soils and plenty water. What do we need from God? Mana! Tayakamoneke mana. Inshiku shakwa Noah tashakabwele”! How can we be number four in Africa kunsala na fyonse ifi Lesa atupela? Tatuletekwa bwino”!

  1. Not zambia on fire but mmembe.
Economy wise we are struggling but look
    At our neighbours Zimbabwe,Malawi rec
    All the same.

  2. In addition to the problems that Zambia has is luck of credible opposition. The people are in opposition because they are either hungry, bitter or have been chased from eating from the GRZ plate. Others for had their companies liquidated for not paying taxes. How can a tax fraudster be given a chance to govern a nation. All these politicians just want a chance to come and steal.

  3. I doubt if Fredson given the chance to rule Zambia if he is going to manage its people, when he was running the defunct newspaper it was romoured that some workers were subjected to slavery wages whilst awarding himself a huge salary.

  4. Believe me Mmembe will never rule our beautiful Zambia no matter what. There are some people whom we may say in 2040 can be president not him

  5. KCI, on this one i agree with you. On the other hand, the biggest problem we have in Zambia is not really lack of quality leaders, it is our choices as Zambians. This country has credible men & women who can take the country to greatness but are we willing to support them if they stepped in the ring? won’t we call them names? I can give names here which for me would have made good presidents e.g. Brig. Gen. Miyanda, Dr. Kalombo Mwansa, Patrick Chisanga, HH, Chipimo, Hon. Silvia Chalikosa, Dr. Christine Kaseba, Edith Nawakwi et al. How many of us are able be to honest enough, be truthful and accept that some of these people we have denied chance would have made good leaders? The moment we will shelve tribalism, carder-ism, partisan and embrace meritocracy, that’s when we shall see the…

    • All names put forward by you Mwelwa
as good potential leaders are from Luapula, Northern, & Muchinga, THERE LIES THE PROBLEM!
You then have the audacity to call others “Tribalists”?
How bout Citizens like Magande, people of integrity, who have a good track record where they served in the past? Even a guy like Clive Chirwa, who was sabotaged by Greedy P.F criminals, who had Trucking businesses, & saw his Railway Vision as a threat to making their Kasaka ka Ndalama. There are many more from all tribes, I also like Chitambala Mwewa a Bemba, as this Man is full of vision, check out his Lusaka Clean campaign.
Just before the frothing @ the mouth starts, I am NOT Tonga, but Ngoni.
It’s a pity our Constitution is what it is which we have to respect, as Guy Scott would have made a…

    • cont;
as Guy Scott would have made a better President than Chagwa -(The Fallen). Scott exhibited his respect for the Country’s welfare, & sound leadership qualities, when he stopped Chagwa from misusing Government funds, & property for Chagwa’s campaigns after Satas demise. All this nonsense of buying an expensive Jet, when Civil servants go unpaid for months, & no medicines in hospitals would have NEVER happened under Scott’s watch!
This is when Chagwa the Prince of Zambian Corruption, who @ the time, only had 3 suits, & a teaspoon to his name approached the Godfather of Zambian Corruption R.B, & they formed the unholy alliance that has helped sink Zambia to what it is today, where Ministers with all sorts of Corruption tags, still fly the flag & hold on to office.
      ONLY…

  6. Zambia is on “fire” because mumembe stole from the poor by evading taxes which were meant to buy medicines, build more schools etc but Mmembe stole all that money and bought exotic cars and used some of that money to pay for his gay activities. Proof that he stole is that his The post news paper was liquidated. Now he is preaching to solve poverty problems what deranged thinking fellow

  7. Correction. Manna was Not during Noah’s time. Socialism itself is a promise of manna. Dr Mmembe message is self cannibalistic.

  8. We are on fire but where is the smoke? are you smoking it? Malabish! These chaps are competing for the biggest clown competition. Zambia will never get anywhere when you practice politics of selfishness.

  9. So when one is unhappy with government and he has a little bit of some money the only thing they think of is to become the president of Zambia instead of coming up with solutions to challenges the country is facing its a big shame even those without morals and intergrit want to rule Zambia its unbelievable
