President Edgar Lungu says his government will continue to devise necessary and conducive conditions for the private sector to flourish. President Lungu noted that supporting the private sector in the journey towards expansion, will in turn lead to the development of the entire country.

The President said that in order to attract investments in the tourism sector, his government has created an enabling environment which has seen local and foreign investors construct a series of hotels and lodges in various parts of Zambia.

He added that government is creating a conducive environment for investors, in fulfilment of the authority’s quest to diversify the economy, as one of the strategic focus in the 7th National Development Plan.

The Head of State was speaking during the official opening of Urban Bliss Hotel in Kabwe, Central Province.

Urban Bliss has now become the first ever five-star hotel in Kabwe district.

The President commended the investor, Prya Die Here (PDH) Foundation for their valuable contribution to the hospitality industry in Zambia.

He stated that Urban Bliss has contributed to the outlook of the district with its modern accessories which he observed, meets international standards.

And Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga disclosed that 16 investors are set to invest in the province arising from the investment exposition which the province held late last year.

Mr Mushanga noted that the province has potential for investments in various sectors of the economy.

The Minister has however appealed to the President to consider working on the road network, in order to make the province more accessible.

He noted that developing the road network in the region, will enhance development in the area.

Meanwhile Minister of Tourism and Arts, Charles Banda said the construction of a hotel in Kabwe is a milestone in the development of the tourism sector.

Dr. Banda said the new hotel is a catalyst to increasing tourist arrivals in Zambia.

  1. Nice. But probably micro-managing as per Kampyongo’s newly found vocabulary. Mayor and minister of arts and tourism or some such level would have been appropriate.

Hotels for abusing Mulungushi, Nkhruma, Paglory and Immaculata young females? What bliss in that location full of lead contamination. Kabwe should grow towards Kapiri where lead contamination maybe less.

Private sector is working….Viva FTJ foundations

    • OK get ready to shoot me down.

Who is responsible for grading hotels in Zambia?

I have stayed in many 5 star hotels around the globe, and the quality standards are undeniable. It’s like wow, and wow again.

I have also stayed in “5 star” hotels in Zambia. I will not comment.

    • Who wrote this article …there is no mention of the cost of construction, how many jobs it will create, who the owner is and what their background is..what makes it 5 star…what’s even shocking is a hotell like this if its 5 star is competition to the hotels that are included in that overpriced $1.2 billion Ndola Lusaka motorway. Who briefs this head of state …its like he can come to commission anything using the office!!

    • Iwe Nubian foul smell is not necessarily pollution. A skunk’s arse isn’t polluted Vos Skunks eat only natural food.

    • Clueless corrupt LAZY Lungu going to open a private hotel. This is shameful. This is what happens when someone doesn’t know what they’re doing. A hard working president wouldn’t be wasting time officiating at the opening of a private hotel. Just wasting taxpayer’s money. If it was my hotel, I would tell him to stay away. Wasted years indeed.

  2. Mulungushi Textile that can create proper skilled jobs is rotting there in Kabwe…the whole president without any once of shame has rushed to commission a hotel with unknown private owner…I mean who is Prya Die Here (PDH) Foundation who we can not even find on link? This man refused to go to a AU summit for this African speed train from Cape to Cairo that can benefit the country with skilled jobs to do and drink whiskey in a hotel.

  3. they are south Africans.
I spoke with one of the members, very friendly…
I am actually shocked that lungu made the trip. this guy isn’t serious

    • Your president has no priorities …this is a job for Charles Banda its a private hotel not a hotel build by the Pension fund.

  4. “The Minister has however appealed to the President to consider working on the road network, in order to make the province more accessible.”

He is also directly in charge of roads now, is he? Anyway, he is everywhere, even for a small occasion as this. Isn’t he supposed to be reviewiing policies, reports from ministers and assessing where the country is, with a view to making a STATE OF THE NATION speech or something of the sort? Press conference perhaps, to answer questions? Or is this wishful thinking on my part?

    • Mkango
If it is away from Lusaka,he will come, especially if it will be commissioned over the weekend lol

  5. a president that has time to commission a small private hotel but has no time to hold a press conference .Zambia is amazing the all lot of the president really the president of the republic of Zambia with all his authority went to commission a hotel so he can say his government has made it possible. Wow! we are in trouble and imagine just recently the president of Egypt turned down an official invitation from PF’s Lungu because he had domestic issues to sort out

  6. wow this president is amazing and what’s crazy he still wonders why people keep on condemning him just these past 7 months how many places has he gone to really one of Mr Sata’s campaign message against RB was that he travels to much hence he wastes tax payers money now look at what has happened now nowonder people have to work for the presidency before voting for them just like Sata , HH , just like kaunda , kaunda Jr e.t.c

  7. Me thinks ECL is personally benefiting from this… owns some shares – mark my words. An income stream. More ways of justifying his newly acquired wealth.

    • Luangwa Extension, if you are coming from South just before the railway crossing turn left. Follow the same road

  8. we as Zambian are not interested in such issues.we are very allergic to progress and we are armchaiur critics and we dont see anything positive but politics and tribal war.let foreigners invest in our country and make their money. The lord will provide for us. lungu and HH are to blame for any of our problems and poverty.

    • Oh come on southerner…why apportion some blame to HH? HH has never been president. Poverty and all..blame Lungu and his thieving ministers. Indeed how can the entire busy president find time to open a small private hotel at tax payers expense? Unless he has financial interest in the enterprise…maybe running the casino? The project commissioner has run out of projects to commission. Really what sort of president is this?

  9. Great job President Lungu! Obviously the losers, UPND and their bitter god HH aren’t happy to see such a facility in Central Province. Going by their comments am sure people are able to see that HH and UPND infact doesnt want the welfare of Zambians uplifted and yet pretending to have economic solutions in everything.
As GBM says, HH and UPND dont have an agenda for Zambia but for their businesses and tribesmen only.

    • Your logic and reasoning ability is an embarrassment to your hosts. please go back to Zambia, you will make a lot of sense!!

  10. The whole of a president spending a whole lot of tax payers money to go commission a private hotel makes me think he wants to be seen everywhere as relevant and to authenticate the insecurity his presidency is suffering in some quarters. As most indigenous Zambians have no money to spend in such hotels the president has endorsed government institutions expenditures as a go to rendezvous for their never ending conferences and meetings!

On a lighter note Prya Die Here (PDH) sounds more like “Pray You Die Here” if read really fast!

    • My husband is a disporan, & he heartly love the motherland. Yet he fail to get the on going tribal crutching among each others. I personally, i’m a motherland born & immensely proud to be one. My first names sound Mu’Tonga, yet i’m partly Mu’Tonga & again extremely proud to be partial Barotse daughter….

Are you studying enough our history/our herirage or we are simply moving with the move of many, regardless the mistakes that are so visible?

If you truly care & love your family, one must be able to mention & make suggestions, when some goes wrong. Otherwise, you would be misguiding your beloved ones, and later on the problem will remine unsolved. Hence, worsening everthing for both.

Just because one criticizes ones act(s), it does not mean “lets prounce war”…. &…

  11. Kwena, commissioning hotel, the whole entire President. That is Banda job to commission. He is the head of hospitality Industry. What a shame!
