New Hope Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) President Dr. Nevers Sekwila Mumba yesterday gave the roadmap for the long awaited MMD Convention.
Dr. Mumba who was in the Company of Party Vice President Mr. Reuben Sambo, Party National Chairperson Winnie Zaloumis, Party National Secretary Hon. Elizabeth Chitika and other Senior MMD leaders, yesterday met hundreds of Lusaka District and Constituency MMD Officials at Matero Community Hall.
Party National Secretary Hon Elizabeth Chitika said that the MMD has hit the road running.
“We have heard some people say that the MMD is dead. Can a dead party have all these members in their structures in a single district. As the Party’s CEO, I am extremely happy that even after the three (3) years of confusion in the party, our structures are very intact. I would like to say that we the New Hope MMD have hit the road running for 2021”, Hon. Chitika said.
Whilst MMD National Chairperson Ms. Winnie Zaloumis challenged President Lungu to revoke the Nomination of Raphael Nakachinda as Member of Parliament for he was expelled from MMD.
“The MMD leadership wrangles ended on the 5th of November, 2019. The Judge among other things ruled that the 2016 MMD convention was illegal and that Mr. Felix Mutati and Raphael Nakachinda remained expelled members of the MMD. When Nakachinda was nominated to Parliament, Amos Chanda said that he was appointed to Parliament as an MMD Nominated Member of Parliament. Since Nakachinda is not an MMD, we are hereby calling upon President Lungu to revoke Nakachinda’s Nomination. As a Party, we have a number of people who more qualified than Nakachinda”, Ms. Zaloumis said.
Party Vice President Mr. Reuben Sambo said that the MMD had been used for personal gains by selfish people.
“We have realized with sadness how our party has been used for personal gains. Some people have used it to gain freedom, some to become Ministers and others to become MP’s. I would like to say that never again will selfish people hijack our party for personal gains”, Mr. Sambo said.
Party President Dr. Nevers Mumba said that he is a product of a Convention.
“I have heard one individual alleging that Nevers is afraid of the Convention. That is the biggest joke of the decade. In 2012, when I returned from Canada I found the biggest names in the MMD running for the MMD Presidency These included Hon. Kavindale, Hon. Mutati and Hon. Situmbeko Musokotwane just to mention a few. I beat them fair and square. I am a product of a Convention, how can I be scared of it”, Dr. Mumba said.
Dr. Mumba then gave a road map for the long awaited MMD Convention.
“I would like to inform you our leaders in Lusaka District that the National Secretary will soon call for Provincial Conferences in all the 10 provinces of Zambia. After that, we will then have a Policy Conference where we will rectify our party Constitution and all other policies of our party for ratification at the Convention. This will then lead to the National Convention where any member of our party can run for any office including the Office of President. We will then hire one of the big stadiums where we will launch the New Hope MMD in readiness for the 2021 elections where we will participate in all the elections from Ward, Constituency and Presidential levels”, Dr. Mumba said.
One thing I respect about the mmd is that they, unlike the upnd, respect democracy and practise it through their convention. 20 years later we are still waiting for upnds convention. Right now I am with my boys in kafue. Please say hi if you see me and support pf. Thanks. Kz

We see RB coming back and failed to hijack MMD by hook or crook. Then he sponsored Mutation for that sham 2016 convention. NEVERS is a tested all wheather leader, hence the NEW HOPE MMD. So those who want to go backwards for immoral and non-integrity leadership are wasting there time. They can join those other political parties playing politics as usual.
New Hope MMD sounds promising but what makes them new now that they failed to deliver before? It would be good for Zambia’s democracy to have at least one brand new opposition party with a brand new face/vision challenging the ruling party in the next elections. I think the people have grown tired of the same old faces and the presence of young blood would open up a opportunity for positive change in the political arena.

Nine chale, you are saying they failed to deliver? At the time they lost elections we thought they have failed but now if you compare…they were 100% better. Look at how people are suffering now. If i could, i would definetly rewind the clock to the mmd days of mwanawasa. Things were much much better and i know a lot of people will agree with me. 2011 was the biggest mistake.

Looking back, we can always conclude that some things were better in the past than today but fact is NOT everything today is worse than it was then. Maybe inflation was lower then but I recall, for instance, that our grip on the mines was not that firm under the Mwanawasa government.
As for sufferers, they will always be there, just as the Scripture says. There is no country in the world which guarantees 100% prosperity for all it’s citizens. Even here in Germany, the economic powerhouse of Europe, you will find a good number of people living under seriously hard conditions.
What’s this guy’s problem Nevers? This guy said he would go back to evangelism but he is back I mean you were convicted and found guilty of misappropriating funds, what’s your end game? As you are not nurturing young members in MMD
kz why don’t you about your party full of witches. Leave UPND alone. It is their choice to have a convention or not. Just concentrate on your “Do as I say” muti. I hope you are among the first ones to return the demonic powers to seer 1
Ba chale yes we agree with you. Even you if you spend your salary just on eating, you will enjoy a lot. The mmd spent on consumption. We never saw all these things are today. There was money to spent on trivial things that supported consumption and not infrastructure development.
Mr. Kaizer Zulu, I have come to love your objectivity and mature disposition. I see why His excellence chose you as Special Aid Political Affairs. You are a king maker. It’s in your blood. The media has portrayed you wrongly to a larger extent. Just keep your focus and integrity. We are glad that you have contributed and continue to do so to the development of our country.

Rev bwalya zikomo! I have always believed in being objective in the analysis of national issues. There is no point living in a dream and lying to oneself. The only way to win an election is accepting your shortcomings and dealing with them head on. For example I knew that me remaining in the position of advisor was attracting the wrong attention to the party so it made sense to leave the position and use my skills elsewhere in the office of the president. Result? We ended up with PF Sata, Sata as president of the country can you imagine? The result has been that Sata set the trend and now every Jim and Jack thinks that he has a vision blah blah, he can also be president blah blah.
And of all people the established standard of president is now Sata. How can a country sink so low? What did we do to deserve such punishment from God?
