Share

Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo has said that it is a crime for people to be issuing alarming statements that are likely to cause anarchy.

Mr. Kampyongo said that it is unfortunate that some members of the public continue to give false alarming statements on the gassing situation in the country noting that the Zambia police is able to charge alarmists with a case depending on the gravity of response

Mr. Kampyongo was responding to a question by the Kalabo Central Member of Parliament Chinga Miyutu who wanted to know whether the Government is aware that people in rural parts of Kalabo district are spending nights outside their homes to safeguard themselves against gassing as there are no police patrols.

The Minister said his ministry has not received such a report but said police in the area received two false alarms of gassing in the area.

Mr. Kampyongo also commended the people of Kalabo Central for not taking the law into their own hands.

He, however, said the Zambia Police is currently working with the Zambia Correctional Service and other security departments to maintain peace and order in various parts of the district.

Mr. Kampyongo further said it is also the responsibility for parliamentarians, civic leaders and traditional leaders to educate their communities on the current happenings to avoid the issuing of false alarms and ensure that there is law and order is maintained.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kampyongo said that he will in the course of the week present a ministerial statement to parliament on the matter.

  1. But dont forget to bring the gassing criminals to justice. We are watching, and 2021 is just round the corner for us to show our justice too.

  2. This is exactly what I said. Thanks for echoing the same sentiments my learned friend. I keep saying let us fight for tough law on fake news especially social media. Minimum 5 years with hard labour. Look at that silly boy ZOOM. He thought we wouldn’t catch up with him. He is now in hot delele

  3. Peter Rajesh Nkhoma, let them just rot in detention, courts are where they withhold evidence and obtain acquittal from the poor magistrates. It’s a new tactic, you forget the corruption cases?

  5. Chinga Miyutu must know that even here we used to spend nights just to safe quad our properties as well as our lives so in this current situation it is very normal let them continue because we have gone through that. They should even look for more worn out tyres to burn as they enjoy cold in the night and they should not forget to buy some spirits to drink as they patrol their streets bye.

    Lastly P.F, KUYABEBELE!

  7. I used to find debates under UNIP interesting. We actually would make fun of their quoting Caps, Acts and so on and so forth. This government takes politics to another level. They insert names into judgments, go vague on what they are referring to and just waffle all over the place. That said, it is indeed an offence to alarm the public contrary to ummm – ummm – Sangwa, any advice here?

  8. Clean up your passport office please! It is alarming how your staff there are openely corrupt and think they are untouchable. Then we might begin to believe whatever you say,

  9. And is it not an offence for pf officials to issue tribal sentiments, PF thugs to beat up people at intercontinental hotel? You give a blind eye to the above but want to threaten the people of kalabo. In the history of this country, Steven Kampyongo as minister of home affairs has issued more threats to citizens than all the former ministers of home affairs in the entire history of this country. This should give you an idea of what kind of a person he is. Bloated ergo is one of them!!

  10. KZ kale ayaba – 2015 State House gunman and Special Assistant to the president for corruption Kaizer Zulu, with the full knowledge of clueless Edgar Lungu ordered the raid on the residence of the nephew to Chongwe member of Parliament Sylvia Masebo fearing that the opposition lawmaker is gaining much support in her constituency which will enable the UPND secure victory in next year’s elections.
Sources at State House said that the raid which occurred a couple of weeks ago was not even known to the state police but PF cadres in police offices and some seconded to the “fake” intelligence.

  11. KZ kale ayaba – 2016 Kaizer Zulu’s girlfriends Lulu Sonita Zulu has committed suicide after he beat her up …

  12. KZ kale ayaba – 2015 Special Assistant for Corruption at State House who is also Political Advisor to President Edgar Lungu Keizer Zulu was almost arrested in South Africa during the China Africa Summit, the other week.
Zulu who was in the presidential entourage picked a South African prostitute and decided to leave the official accommodation for the Zambian delegation and booked a presidential Suite at Radisson blue Hotel in Sandton.

  13. BA MINISTER DEFINE FOR US WHAT AN ALARMING STATEMENT IS SO THAT WE CAN IDENTIFY IT WHEN WE COME ACROSS ONE. FOR EXAMPLE, IF SOMEBODY SAYS KAMPYONGO NI CHAKOLWA, IS THAT AN ALARMING STATEMENT?
IF YOU DONT DEFINE SUCH THINGS, POLICE TAKE ADVANTAGE AND ARREST ANYONE WHO UTTERS A TRUTH ABOUT A GOVT OFFICIAL AS LONG THEY HATE THE PERSON FOR SOME REASON.

  14. Well spoken ba Kampyango, this is what you should’ve told the nation from day one of when these criminal mob injustice gangs started attacking innocent people. Whatever damage alledged “gassing” incidents have caused is nothing in comparison to the over 50 plus deaths of innocents people at the hands of ignorant, superstitious, criminal minded and dangerous people. Please round them all up and arrest them for the terrible crimes they have committed.
