Citizens are Entitled to Express Public Displeasure With the President

Share

By: Anthony Bwalya – UPND Member

As part of his ongoing countrywide political campaigns, paying zero regards to public health regulations in view of COVID19, President Edgar Lungu was recently in Monze of Southern Province where he was commissioning houses for prison service officers I believe.

The people of Monze, within their constitutional rights, made it known to him that they disapprove of his leadership and that of the Patriotic Front (PF), they booed him and chanted UPND slogans. No-one stopped the President from entering Monze or Southern Province, nor did anyone interfere with his campaigns.

No crime was committed.

But the lack of both political and intellectual education, the blatant disregard for common sense, as well as a total show of constitutional and civic ignorance, has sent the PF into panic mode and scrambling for a matching response, to the extent that they are now threatening the UPND President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema with violence should he enter their perceived “strongholds.”

Notably, the Kabushi Member of Parliament and Lusaka Minister has issued a misguided threat against Mr. Hichilema and the UPND, against our mobilization efforts on the Copperbelt.

Let is be known to the PF and Mr. Lusambo, that the people of the Copperbelt do not take instructions from political parties, let alone from cadres who should be counting their lucky stars that they even enjoy the privilege to occupy positions of elected power.

The people of the Copperbelt Province are driven by common sense and are known to defy political hooliganism and thuggery at its peak. The people of the Copperbelt Province defied the vigilante of KK and UNIP, defied FTJ and his 3rd term bid, defied RB, and his big-spending MMD to which Lusambo was part and parcel.

The PF and Mr. Lusambo will be foolish to think that the people of the Copperbelt Province will forget their suffering and trade their future for a corrupt regime like the PF.

The people of Copperbelt are hurting due to government corruption which has cost them jobs, healthcare and education.

We have lost businesses and incomes due to the failure by the PF to sort out the country’s energy crisis. The PF keep giving electricity for FREE to a KCM which is now funding PF party activities through over priced supply contracts given to PF cadres while Zambians are subsidizing KCM energy consumption by up to 20%.

The people of the Copperbelt are hungry and struggling to put food on the table for their families because of the high price of Mealie meal.

Mr. Lusambo and the PF want the people of the Copperbelt to celebrate this nonsense and play to the political gallery by fighting HH and the UPND.

If Mr. Lusambo wants to pay and parade PF cadres on the streets of the Copperbelt and celebrate poverty, corruption, joblessness; he is free to do so. But he must never make the mistake of thinking that Zambians will stand and watch while political bafoonery becomes the order of the day in our country.

The collective patience of the Zambian people is at a tipping point.

Do not test us.

  1. Ngandu go to hell. There is a difference between constructive criticism and tribalism. Your party and demigod are champions of the latter. You will perish for this. People that disrespect their elders and leaders don’t receive blessings. You are cursed and I recommend you seek the lord jesus christ.

  3. Tribalism is SP stinks.
The behaviour of that basket of individuals is appalling.
Nothing will change in SP until their son enters State House.
It’s ain’t about ECL’s leadership, it is about their god in State House.
    But as for us
    It is PF 100%
    ECL 100%
    Patriots 100%
    Anti tribalism 100%
    Zambia overdrive 100%.

  4. @Anthony by saying the people of Copperbelt not take instructions from political parties and that the people of Copperbelt are driven by common sense, you are saying that the people of Southern Province are driven by what? I will quote Chief Mukuni who said “what is good for a goat is good for a dog”. What is good for UPND strongholds should be good for PF strong holds.

  5. @Kaizer Zulu, boyi just stop this. People have advice you to stop using that thing’s name, because you sound always too intelligent than actual thug who was fired from State house.

  6. So what is wrong with people expressing their dislike of a President? In demiocracy presidents are expected to have thick skins listening ears and a caring heart. If they blocked or stoned the presidential motorcade that would be an offence yes.
For God’s sake Lusambo, we are not a monkey state!

  7. Why fight with Bowman who has not been to school, you very well know that his thinking is challenged, and you have stubborn and ill mannered people like Kaizar in that party, in short there is nobody to advise the other. They don’t understand that the people of Monze did not commit any offence

  8. Thank you Anthony. PF supporters suffer from self induced amnesia. They poured a bucket-load of chibuku on Father bwalya when he was ABZ leader. They nearly rammed Rupiah’ motorcade on CB and slashed tires of Kambwili’ car at a radio station. Go to Luanshya’s former Zccm community Hall and see the mayhem they caused after losing to NDC in a by-election. PF you can’t have it your way all the time. Give us a break!

  9. Lusambo! Lusambo! I have never met a bootlicker like this man! That’s why education at the highest level should be encouraged by all! You can even his body language when he is with the president! Always trying to attract the attention of the cameraman to show that he is with bamwine! Lusambo not all days are Mondays! Don’t outshine for nothing!

  10. Who in his/her normal senses would support a thief, plunderer, tribal and corrupt leader, probably UNZA and Prof MUMBA (Vice Chancellor)

    I SUPPORT UPND and HH

  11. Absolutely no offence in Monze. Not sure what this hullaballoo on dead ZNBC news is all about. The people of Monze being in a democratic country expressed themselves very freely when President Lungu was there. They told him they don’t want him as President, how surely can that be termed as being disrespectful. They did not break any law at all. And they should do it again if they feel that way should the President visit again.

  12. More de campaigning of already unpopular Hichilema! With that stinking tribal behaviour towards Edgar Lungu, someone tell me what would happen if this minority tribe accidentally got hold of power in this country? It would be chaos and civil war! Tongas and Upnd should come to terms with reality, they are a minority grouping that cannot control the larger Northern/Eastern grouping, based on their tribal popularity in Southern province! It will never work for Mr. Hichilema!

    • Exactly the same way UNIP used to say they will be civil war when MMD takes over which was not true, exactly the same point above . I am PF and will remain so, to be objective and say we have lamentably failed is an understatement. Lets give chance to our colleagues, being in power must not be life and death. And please don’t demonise the people of Monze for openly expressing themselves that they don’t want this President. And by the way, there is nothing like tribalism, if you prefer your own kith, you are within your rights, we must start demystifying this campaign. If I am Luvale and I want a Luvale President whether he is competent or not, that is very much within law

  13. In this part of the world where people do not know what democracy entails, they wrongly think there is something that went wrong in Monze just by virture of Monze people openly telling the President that they don’t want him. Who would surely want such a President with all economic stats showing stagnation ever since he assumed office. There was absolutely no offence in Monze, the only offence was removing opposition material

  14. Whether the people of Monze dont want Edgar Lungu as their president, the fact is that Edgar is president of the whole of Zambia of which Monze is part of! I dont understand thinking of people of Southern province, they can only recognize a fellow Tonga, when Nkandu tells Bembas to only recognize their own she is branded a tribalist! Not only tribalism was exhibited in Monze against Edgar Lungu, but a sense of hatred as well! Hichilema should not cry foul once the same is done to him in PF strong holds!

  15. Absolutely no offence in Monze. People of Monze please continue expressing your views, nobody should be surpressing your views. HH had to escape through the roof top of a radio station in Ndola escaping violent PF caders sent by their leaders, there was no this outcry. But just for the people of Monze to shout at Edgar Lungu to say please we don’t want you should be a problem, no way please

  16. Let them express their democratic right .He hasn’t done much for southern Province and now that its election time he goes there to mock them with his silly hand gestures .People of Southern Province do the honourable thing ,get the houses and vote him out too .

  17. Freedom of expression and speech are part of democracy and the way PF cadres and their useless ministers think Edgar Lungu is free from criticism.

Learn to be tolerant and live with people who insult you.

    PF must go!

    • Of course PF is going. That is what the people of Monze were saying which the PF don’t want to hear, but ulendo uliko for sure

  18. And ba Bowman, totally clueless says we will avenge. Avenge what? Is there no orientation in this party for these chaps to learn. That is why you hear somebody saying Dubai is like Zambia. No school, no exposure, no understanding of what democracy is, democracy entails respecting the views of the others no matter how much you don’t like them, in this case the views of the people of Monze openly shouting at Edgar Lungu that they don’t want him as President and this should never ever be termed tribalism, and by the way democracy allows you to choose a leader of your own tribe as your preference, lets demystify this thing of tribalism please, lets remove this ignorance

  19. kAINZI MUST KNOW THAT A PERSON CAN BE ADDRESSED AS “HONORABLE” BECAUSE THE LAW FORCES CITIZENS TO DO SO EVEN IF THERE IS NOTHING HONORABLE ABOUT THE PERSON. THIS IS CASE WITH kAINZI’S BOSS: AN OFFICE CANNOT BE RESPECTED AS A DISTINCT AND SEPARATE THING FROM THE OFFICE HOLDER. IF THE OFFICE HOLDER FAILS, EVEN THE OFFICE WILL NOT BE RESPECTED. WHATEVER HAPPENED IN MONZE COUPLED WITH THE PF’S RESULTANT MORONIC RUMPUS IS A SURE SIGN THAT CERTAIN OFFICE HOLDER’S DAYS HAVE RUN OUT.

  20. I am born and bred in Chiengi, the people of Monze are speaking for us all. That’s just a rehearsal for 2021

  22. I’m increasingly beginning to suspect that the highest educated person in PF may be a Grade 12. Most likely thugs like Lusambo have no college education whatsoever. Even Lungu failed as a lawyer. Because if these people were educated, they would know that a president, in a democratic State, is a public servant and not a king. Zambia is a democracy and not a monarch. Democratic countries have what’s called Freedom of speech. Booing a public official is part of protected speech. Only kings demand that you can’t boo them. Even ministers are “servants,” of the people. The term “minister’ itself comes from the French and Latin words that mean “servant,” or “attendant.” Thus the minister’s job is to serve the people, and not themselves as the case is in Zambia. People put…

  23. … a president in office as a public servant. It thus follows that people have a right to express their disapproval if their employee (president) is not doing a good job. And sometimes they express that disapproval by booing, and can even fire him at the polls, as it will happen next year to ineffective Lungu. Western presidents get booed all the time and they know it’s part of the job. Only in Africa do political parties in office DEMAND that their president be respected no matter how corrupt or ineffective he is. Just see here, Lusambo, Lungu’s enforcer and attack dog, calling for revenge, like a gang member warning a rival gang to “stay away from our turf. Don’t ever come to our neighborhood. If you do, we’ll deal with you. You insulted our boss.” That’s thuggish behavior,…

  25. ZNBC tv was unable to show the displeasure that some Monze residents expressed towards Edgar Lungu but only the condemnation of that displeasure. Is this the way to report news? If u can’t show the displeasure, wht right do u hv to report the condemnation of it?

  26. TO KZ AND LUNGU , INCLUDING ALL PF THE MESSAGE IS LOUD AND CLEAR , I HAVE ALWAYS VOTED FOR PF AND MOBILIZE ALL THAT I CNA INFLUENCY ABOUT 5% OF ZAMBIA TO VOTE PF AND LUNGU ,BUT NO MORE . NOTE THAT LUNGU ONLY WON BY 1.5% LESS MY 5% , IT IS A LOSS , BYE BYE , UNLESS IF TODAY YOU FIRED KZ, AND ALL YOUR CORRUPT MINISTERS WE MAY RECONSIDER ISSUES .
