Copperbelt health facilities in need of advanced lifesaving tools

Health Copperbelt health facilities in need of advanced lifesaving tools

Copperbelt Provincial Health Director Robert Zulu has appealed to President Edgar Lungu to help the Province with advanced life saving implements.

Dr. Zulu made an appeal yesterday during President Lungu’s tour of Masaiti District hospital.

Dr. Zulu said the Province has been privileged with a number of ambulances but that most of the lifesaving equipment are basic which requires to be replaced with advanced apparatuses.

He said some health facilities such as Masaiti district hospital’s strategic position need advanced life saving devices fitted into ambulances to preserve lives during referrals.

“We are grateful your excellence that we are have received as a province a good number of ambulances but I wish to state that most of them have basic lifesaving ones, ” Dr. Zulu said.

Dr. Zulu further added that the hospital is need of theater equipment for it to be operational.

And President Lungu said he will engage with Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya to respond to the challenges faced.

The President also urged the local leadership not to wait for his visit for them to bring forth challenges faced by the people.

He said he does not want to see lack of medical equipment being a barrier to the attainment of universal access to health services.

President Lungu said his administration desires to end maternal, neonatal and under five deaths which can only be achieved if certain obstacles are addressed so as to arrive at the targeted goal.

  1. Weldone Dr.Zulu for telling them what they need to do! For them and their ill informed supporters, an Ambulance is just any vehicle painted the way they wish( a ribbon of Zambian flag) with word “Ambulance “.Even a hospital for them is as long as it is building.Healthy care and its quality doesn’t matter to PF,stealing, corruption is supreme, hence buying a basic vehicle at a price of a well equipped ambulance!!

  2. Masaiti District Hospital must be upgraded and a trauma management wing established because of its strategic position. MoH wasted a lot of money on empty medical hubs. What the Doctor has mentioned is what’s priority. Can you decentralize MoH because Ndeke House can’t do everything including procurement of painkillers

  4. Not everything needs to be done by the president. We suffer from dependence syndrome in this country. Surely you cannot use your own initiative to find a way to supply toilet paper? Are these trivial things which you should by pass your local authority and minister of health officials to request from the president. Grow up and stop politicising toilet matters

  5. @Kaizar Zulu. I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, it is your PF party that has promoted this mentality because all the ministers refer to President Lungu for everything. We hear, ‘President Lungu wants this, President Lungu knows about this…’ None of his servants can act without referring to him.

  6. KZ unfortunately there is no money to go round for most things that medical and health and educational institutions want .Last time President Lungu went to Mukuba secondary in Kitwe where he went to school ,he made sure that the school did have a bole hole to supply water for the institutions .He forget to check to make sure that all other schools like Ndeke ,Mindolo ,Kitwe Boys and Chamboli needed to have water from bole holes and electricity and where of the same standands as Mukuba .This is what people want of his him
