People debating the Eligibility of President Lungu are just scared to face him

Share

Minister of National Development Planning Hon Alexander Chiteme over the weekend admonished all those that want to sustain the eligibility debate to focus on real issues, as the matter had already been settled by the Constitutional court (ConCourt).

Addressing scores of Miseshi residents who gathered at Butungwa Primary school in Kitwe, the Nkana lawmaker termed all those who were engaged in the futile eligibility debate as scared individuals who were terrified to face President Edgar Chagwa Lungu head-on.

“The President has delivered, he is still delivering, and that has petrified some people, his works have immobilized them, the eligibility debate is a foregone conclusion, the highest court in the land ruled in favor of our boss. Don’t be cheated by time wasters, who wish to waste your time twice,” Hon Chiteme said.

And the Nkana Constituency Member of Parliament wondered which new arguments the naysayers would bring to the court which they didn’t during the Danny Pule case.

“One doesn’t need to be a lawyer to understand that the Pule case exonerated the President, without him uttering a single word. Efyo chaba nga Lesa ali naiwe, aba lwani nangu bengema shani, ena kuli bonse alapokolola,” Hon Chiteme stated to a cheering crowd.

Officially welcoming the over 15 branches that have been formed in Miseshi ward, Hon Chiteme urged the branches to go flat out and ensure that every person of legal age registered as a Voter. He also emphasized to the gathering that ECZ had streamlined the process, that people were now able to register from anywhere.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are in Ndola or Chipata, one can still register to vote here in Nkana, Kitwe, all one needs is to know the polling station. This is revolutionary in nature, go and spread the word far and near.

“Show us that you are dedicated branches by ensuring that everyone who is 18years and above in your localities registers to vote, it’s their right!” Chiteme challenged.

ECZ yesterday begun the voter registration process across the country. Their target this time around is to capture 9 million voters. Voters can now register from any nearest registration centre and opt to vote from a polling station of their choice.

  1. No one is scared of anyone. Right-minded people are just trying to uphold the constitution while some people from the time they came in power they have been abrogating the supreme law of the land

  2. Since when did you care about upholding the constitution when your mps ran away from debating it? Don’t take zambian for f00ls. You think with the desperation has to rule this country, he wouldn’t have let lungu stand if as you say he is useless, regardless of his eligibility? Don’t take zambian for f00ls. Come 2021 it will be landslide. Your upnd will cease to exist. Tukala twenu

  3. I do not care whether it is Lungu or a Toad who is on the ballot but it must be legal. Unfortunately, the PF keep lying to people that Lungu’s eligibility was determined by the Con court. It was not. It is for the good of the country that this issue is decided upon when the time comes. PF had better have plan B.

  4. Let others debate on your behalf than yourself debating on how beautiful you are.

It is too much PF cadres and PF leaders boasting. How do you argue yourself if you are tald by the outsiders who sees you with a scar on your forehead a big one infact then you ague by telling them that its not a scar and that is how l was created by God.

  5. Infact its people like you who are taking zambian for fool… Is he the only person to rule this country. His manded is ending next year and the wise people of will not allow that to happen at all cost.

  6. ” ….the Nkana lawmaker termed all those who were engaged in the futile eligibility debate as scared individuals who were terrified to face President Edgar Chagwa Lungu head-on…”

  7. Whether scared or not it immaterial. The fact is the Mr Lungu has already Held Office Twice. He is not Vice-President and, therefore, the question of Term of Office Rule does not affect him. But, even if the Term of Office Clause had applied to him, he still has to independently satisfy the Holding Office Twice Clause!

  8. If President Lungu is so popular, let him form his own Political Party and see if he could win the Election, that is if he were Eligible, of which in this case he is definitely Ineligible. PF should not bury their heads in the sand, else they stand to have no Presidential candidate in 2021!

  10. The constitution is very very clear….Only dull lawyers that have never won a case at the constitution court are barking. These are same lawyers Hakainde Hichilema trusted to represent him. Alas he was terribly dissapointed…..The so called lawyers failed to interpret a simple clause on 14 days.( Primary school Grade 5 Stuff). And today they want to mislead HH that his political arch rival does not qualify to enter the ring. Bo kainde I urge you to go out campaigning against Mr. Lungu We have no time to left to be misled again.. Do not listen to these constitution liars.

  11. Both Edgar Chagwa Lungu and Alexander Chiteme are very weak candidates, and both are trying to force their adoptions. If the PF go to their convention to elect leaders Edgar will be bruised, I challenge him to allow the convention. The PF risk putting the country in wrong hands if they field Edgar because people will vote out of anger. Chiteme has been bruised by Binwell Chansa Mpundu. If the PF don’t adopt Binwell he’s going to whitewash Chiteme as an Independent. The same goes for Elario Musonda. So the biggest similarity between Lungu and Chiteme is that both are weak candidates and both know that they’re not wanted so I understand their frustrations. Lekeni infwa shi shike imfwa mbiye

  12. Look at all the scared tribal hyenas above. ECL is standing whether you like it or not. The constitutional court ruled on this matter and for us we follow the law. If you are not happy you can always challenge his eligibility in courts. No one is stopping you hahahaha.

  13. From the very neutral point: being scared of the president should not be given as defence by PF. No party should sponsor a non qualifying candidate becoz he or she is feared. On the other hand, it is not the responsibility of the opposition to select a candidate for the ruling party. PF has the right to sponsor any person. It’s the electoral commission that should accept or reject a candidate and finally the courts to determine if the commission errors. For now let all concentrate on what they will do for us. Eligibility cases happen a lot in football. It’s the federation that determines the fate and not supporters nor the referee.

  14. It is lungu that is scared ……

If he is not scared, why is he barring others from campains ??

Without violence and use of police , lungu can never ever win any election…

  15. Remember how close the outcome of the last presidential election was ? So maybe its Lungu scared to face the voters.

  16. Chiteme you are right. We are scared of the scorched earth policy, the disregard for the constitution and the thefts at ministry of health. Any Zambian is really scared and it is normal considering the damage done by PF thus far.

  17. I wonder why those arguing in favor of Lungu’s eligibility for the presidential election will not just admit that it is them scared of Lungu and that they care less what the Constitution says or they are ignorant of its language and provisions. Many went to school to acquire knowledge and thus sharpen intelligence but instead got preoccupied their precious time getting to understand the meaning of education..

  18. How can you fear someone who not eligible …..if these dummies respected the constitution they wouldn’t be making such utterances

  19. The fact is that he is not eligible and can’t be allowed to stand.

This is about show off whether one is scared of him or not.

The constitution is very clear and it’s not about fearing him.

    PF must go!

  20. These debates are futile. There is no substance in the debate over eligibility of President Lungu to contest 2021 elections. The Constitutional Court of this country has already decided the matter, once and for all. The court has clearly has dismissed all the claims that President Edgar Lungu can’t contest 2021 elections. All these people need to understand the legalities and constitutional provisions.

  21. Those celebrating the falsehood that President Edgar Lungu is not eligible to contest 2021 General Elections are in fool’s paradise. The selfish opposition leader is taking them for a ride. The Constitution of Zambia is the supreme and no one can surpass it. Those day dreaming need to wake up and smell the coffee. According to Article 106 (3) and (6), a presidential term of office that ran from 25 January 2015 to 13 September 2016 can’t be considered as full term, as it is less than three years. Even the constitutional court, in its judgment has said that the Presidential term of office that ran from 25th January 2015 to 13th September 2016 and straddled two constitutional regimes cannot be considered as a full term.

  22. The falsehood about Second Term of President Edgar Lungu is being spread with malicious intentions. The opposition is not only misleading the country, but also violating the Constitution. They have no faith in the Constitution of Zambia. According to Article 106 (3) and (6), a presidential term of office that ran from 25 January 2015 to 13 September 2016 can’t be considered as full term, as it is less than three years. It is high time every Zambian rose to the occasion to save our Constitution and Country from falling in the hands of foreign mafia.

  23. Zambians are known as peace loving people. We are law abiding and God fearing people. We can’t imagine, even in our wildest of dreams, to surpass or violate any law of the land. We have full respect for the judiciary. But since last few days, the opposition is attacking the judiciary of Zambia. Though the apex judiciary has cleared air on Second Term of President Edgar Lungu, The opposition is spreading false information about it and creating confusion among us. The constitutional court, in its judgment has said that the Presidential term of office that ran from 25th January 2015 to 13th September 2016 and straddled two constitutional regimes cannot be considered as a full term. What opposition is doing amounts to Contempt of Judiciary.

  24. The opposition appears to be working against national interest. One can under political rivalry among political parties. But this high handedness to even defy the judiciary is beyond apprehension. Such frantic effort to spread the fake information and build a narrative against President Lungu is something, Zambia has never seen in the past. The level of desperation among opposition tells everything. There is lot to it than what meets the eye.

  25. ECL will be on the ballot because he has been sworn in only ONCE.Tell me who swears in the President, now tell me the name or names of the Chief Justices that swore him in 2015 and 2016.
